I’m the founder of a company that’s building an AI product to help improve group-working effectiveness in the workplace. The goal of our product is to replace coaches and therapists with a robot that can provide evidence-based personal coaching.

They assisted in the creative design of our website and designed the user interface for our application.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Their primary focus was the frontend work. For the website, we first outlined the sitemap to determine what pages and sections to add. After brainstorming alternative approaches to site structure, the team delivered storyboard mockups to communicate different layout options. That led to a final design, and its implementation followed a disciplined cycling process.

For the application, they underwent a similar process, where we specified different designs on the mock-up tool, Balsamiq. We provided them with the requirements for the page schematics, and they came up with a design that was consistent with our desired look and feel of the overall application.

While my primary point of contact was Harsh (Co-Founder, Brucira Online Solutions Private Limited), I worked with 2–3 people.

How did you come to work with Brucira Online Solutions Private Limited?

We’re also collaborating with a third-party technology consulting firm in our app development. That company had an ongoing partnership with Brucira, so they recommended that we also partner with them for the more creative side of our work. I decided to go with them because while I had proposals from a couple of other vendors, I found Brucira’s web and app designs to be top-notch.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve probably spent around $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in September 2018, and the partnership is still ongoing. They’re still doing creative work for our site and app designs.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

While we’ve yet to commercially release our products, we’ve done preliminary group feedback sessions—with both users and distribution partnerships—which have gone very well. Brucira has delivered fresh and modern designs that really appeal to our audiences.  

How did Brucira Online Solutions Private Limited perform from a project management standpoint?

They were excellent. While our third-party partner coordinated project timelines, Harsh and his team met all the forecasted and required deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re up-to-date and in touch with progressive designs. When you’re working with an off-shore vendor, the designs can often be culturally specific or somewhat dated. Instead, Brucira has a feel of the aesthetics that are favored by North American companies.

Harsh has demonstrated great creative instincts, and his designs are crisp and modern. They truly deliver first-class design work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Like most companies of that scale, they’re juggling a lot of projects. While they’ve had enough capacity to meet our demands and schedule, I suspect that they may struggle as they gain more traction.  

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Understand that Harsh and his team don’t hesitate to give you their design advice. They’re not afraid to give you some pushback on your ideas, which means that you’re in a real partnership with a creative—and not someone who just executes whatever you had in mind. It’s best to make sure that you’ve seen and appreciated their designs beforehand.

Having said that, even though they assertively provide their input, they never make the process difficult. They’re a great creative resource that takes pride in the work they do.

BlueSapling Technologies is an IT service and product provider based in Bangalore, India.

We’ve been delivering services and custom software for almost four years, and our team is 17–18 people in both part-time and full-time positions. I’m the founder and CEO of the company.

We’ve worked with them on a variety of projects related to website and application design.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve worked with them on multiple projects, including designing my company’s website and mobile app. We’ve also used their services on a client project.

For one of our projects, we give them rough wireframes of what kind of website and mobile apps we want, and they produce a complete UI/UX design. They give us multiple design pages and instruct us on what kinds of color palettes we should use, and handle all the graphic design. They also produce a framework for the apps’ dashboards.

Our most recent work was on a loyalty gamification platform meant for shopping malls and retailers. Brucira Online Solutions Private Limited designed mobile applications and the website for that and made illustrations as well. The loyalty platform project is wrapping up now and we’re working with them on another one.

What is the team composition?

There were three people from their team working with us, and I was mainly in touch with Harsh (Co-Founder, Brucira Online Solutions Private Limited) and Siddhita (Co-Founder, Brucira Online Solutions Private Limited). My team was in touch with the rest of their members for day-to-day affairs.

We’ve spent $20,000–$30,000 with them so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Brucira Online Solutions Private Limited in either November or December 2017, so we have an almost two-year working relationship with them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Everyone who’s seen our website has liked and appreciated it. This is all thanks to the design work done by Brucira Online Solutions Private Limited. They’ve given us pleasing and impactful designs on our other projects as well. I don’t have any metrics to share, but given that it’s design work, it’s not particularly hard to assess the direct impact. They’ve helped us a lot with all of the projects we used them for.

The client projects we’ve worked with spend a lot of money with us and express nothing but satisfaction about their portion of the work. Their designs have contributed to more user engagement, and they look really cool and professional. The work has definitely improved users’ perception of our company.

How did Brucira Online Solutions Private Limitedperform from a project management standpoint?

Unless the scope is increased from our side, they’re almost always on time and within budget. Harsh is a great designer himself, and he’s gotten involved and resolved any issues we had. We haven’t faced any significant roadblocks. There are inevitably difficulties with any project, but they take feedback very well and they work on it. They’re good at both English and Hindi, and we haven’t had problems communication-wise.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They really get UI design, and they’re probably the best in the country at it. Their illustration work is really upbeat and follows all the latest trends in the market.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m not sure what improvements they could make. They’re really good, and I don’t have any complaints. Adding more services would be good, but they’ve probably added some that I’m not aware of.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

If the client has a good product idea in mind and wants to make it look really professional design-wise, they can do it. There’s still the matter of implementation, but they are definitely the go-to team for mobile or web design.
