Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

We hired the development of a farmer App to collect data on cost of production and actual income directly from coffee farmers, eliminating the intermediary while collecting data. Farmers will be able to better undertand their coffee production costs and see if the income they receive is enough to cover these costs. It will allow traders to understand the reality of the farmers they supply from and if their price is good enough to ensure farmer livelihoods. The deliverable was 1. supporting us to better design the app flow according to content and 2. to develop and ensure the overall functionality of the actual app 3. provide us with a data management platform where we can oversee the use of the app as well as download the data for analysis.

We hired Brainstack Technologies to build a web-based decision support system. Our goal was to solve a few critical problems in the Indian agriculture sector using the wide data sets existing silo. The challenge was to build a system that could collect huge amounts of data, clean it, process it, and further help in detailed data analytics.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We got their reference from another client. After that, we interviewed their technical team to understand their perspective on our problem statement. They impressed us with their understanding of software architectures and proposed a design that seemed pretty impressive and scalable

The SOW included building a web-based decision support system that’s highly scalable and robust at the same time. When we shortlisted their proposal during the initial phases, they gave us a detailed development plan that included all the milestones and deliverables. They proposed using the latest web development tech stacks and helped us host the solution on our preferred cloud provider- AWS. They engaged expert team members to help at different stages of software development.

There was a mix of team members, including the architects, UI/UX designers, front end and back-end developers. The architect was involved full-time initially and on a need basis later on, while other members worked full-time on the project.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The final solution delivered was of excellent quality and very user-friendly. The system helped us make important decisions using critical insights. The performance is perfect; it’s a very intuitive and easy-to-use system.

They followed the the Agile methodology to develop the system. The project coordinator kept us informed at all stages. We appreciated that they showed us a demo of the working functionality every two weeks, which helped us track the development very closely

What we liked most about them is, being an agile team, they still followed multiple processes at all times and never tried cutting corners. The pricing has been quite competitive, and the quality has been excellent so we got maximum value for money. In our experience with other vendors, we encountered spillage in the project logistics, which surprisingly didn’t happen with them. They charged what they committed in the beginning, and more importantly, it was done on a milestone basis which ensured us that we were paying for the actual deliverables

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They have done a tremendous job, and I recommend them to companies looking for software outsourcing and staff augmentation services. You can trust their expertise and skills.
