We hired Bonanza to help boost our in house design capacities to cover both product design and marketing design needs. Currently we are depending on them entirely for both tasks so they are delivering on kinds of tasks such as: mobile UX/UI design, web UX/UI design, Webflow implementation, graphic design for marketing campaigns, video production, illustrations, and much more.

Every week they delivered the planned work on time and with good quality, and if not on time then it was due to changing requirements/further feedback, and it was easy to coordinate with them and readjust the timelines.

Most of the time. As mentioned with design tasks it's tricky as sometimes extra feedback is provided and extra iterations are needed, so hard to plan when a design task should be done. But for the most part communication and project management was generally good and most tasks were delivered on time. They were also very accommodating and flexible when changes needed to be made, or their capacity was impacted and tradeoffs/prioritisation needs to be made.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Bonanza Studios had a broad range of skills, delivered on their promises, and maintained a great attitude. They were also pro-active/self-sufficient in project managing the list of tasks. Communication with them was also always easy with quick responses and pro-active updates. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something Bonanza Studios could have done differently?

Bonanza are doing really well as an agency so I think this is perhaps a general problem being an external agency with lots of tasks from your client, but it would be great to suggest pro-active improvements that could be done to our designs given context of what we're trying to achieve, just like an in-house designer. E.g. push to do usability testing, or suggest improvements to the design system, or question whether certain designs should be combined with other designs.

Behrad, Jarek and Lorant from Bonanza Berlin did a world-class job shaping our idea. Epapa uses a new learning approach to target in particular students who are completely lost in math and physics. Bonanza gave us a completely new and boosting direction. 

Before our UX/UI design was going nowhere. Now we can implement the design in 4 weeks and launch the Epapa app. Our users are waiting. So are we! As the French say: Très Bien Bonanza. You are the best. We strongly recommend reaching out to them to lift your project to the next level.

We were trying to do some market research, design new functionalities for our current platform, and create a new design for the system.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bonanza Design handled our UX/UI design and did user interviews with our current client base. They looked into our competition and designed a few new features for our platform. They also developed a huge design system.

The team used Figma and conducted user tests via Zoom.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our platform is still under development, so the new features haven’t been released to our clients. We showed the designs to internal and external stakeholders, and it was compelling. Everyone was thrilled with the new designs; they looked fantastic. In general, we received very positive feedback.

How did Bonanza Design perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was excellent. They were reliable and on time. Bonanza Design presented a good roadmap for the upcoming steps; we were always prepared.

Communication was good. We had two weekly calls via Zoom and were integrated through a Slack channel.

We've started MERSOR as gifting marketplace for individuals and recognized a huge potential in the corporate gifting market. However, as our marketplace was optimized for private customer, we've decided to launch a new website for our corporate services.

Therefore, we were looking for a new branding and website structure that's aligned with the existing branding, but optimized for corporate clients.

The branding and execution is very important for us. Therefore, we put a lot of effort into finding the right provider. We've searched online and asked our extended network. Relevant decision criteria were:

The team firstly started to get a deep understanding of the product, the market and our expectations. They created a selection of branding examples to converge our sense of design. In several rounds they provided different CI proposals until we were fully convinced. Afterwards they started to draft the website pages.

I was honestly impressed by the speed and liability. They proved their deep understanding of the product by writing excellent product texts and providing a consistent site structure. They also presented several versions and options to choose from. After the structure was set they worked on the page details and mobile version.

My main contacts were Behrad (Founder) and Cristina (Design Expert). Cristina was mainly responsible for the elaboration while Behrad was always in the loop and supported with his feedback and profound experiences.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The final implementation will be finalized in the next months. However, the first feedback from investors, team members and agencies was highly positive. We can't wait to go live!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was just great! The communication is very clear, reliable and cooperative. They were open for any feedback during the entire process and always took the time to discuss any ideas and thoughts.

Beside our weekly check-in meeting, we had a shared slack channel to be constantly updated. Also, we had all-time access to the figma files so that we could see the progress and leave comments/feedback anytime.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their level of professionalism combined with their strong deliverables and easy communication was definitely outstanding. They have profound experiences and you can feel their passion for design and UX.

We engaged Bonanza Design for a redesign project.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had an existing tool that wasn’t designed very well, so we tasked Bonanza with assessing the tool and sharing their ideas for the redesign. After conducting design research and reviewing similar tools, the team shared suggestions to improve our product’s UI/UX. Then, they combined their findings with our initial user research to create the final design proposal. After that, they entirely redesigned the product using Figma.

What is the team composition?

We primarily worked with the CEO and one designer, but when they went on vacation, we worked with someone else. 

How did you come to work with Bonanza Design? 

We found Bonanza through a referral from our CTO, who used to work with the CEO of Bonanza.

We invested €14,000 (approximately $15,000 USD) per month and €84,000 (approximately $89,000 USD) in total.

We worked with Bonanza from May–October 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We haven’t implemented the product yet, so we don’t have any tangible outcomes. However, Bonanza has delivered great design outputs. We’ve received great feedback from our internal team, who has commented on how amazing the product looks and how they can’t wait to start using it. Overall, I think their work will have a significant impact on our business and our future. 

During our engagement, we were working with two other design agencies for different projects. Our head of design compared them and found that Bonanza was the best, so we switched all of our contracts to them.

How did Bonanza Design perform from a project management standpoint?

They were excellent project managers. They were very organized and took full ownership of the redesign work. We had some internal challenges that made it difficult for us to articulate a clear project plan, but they supported us quite a lot. I got the feeling that they weren’t just interested in collecting a paycheck. Instead, they pushed us towards a clearer vision and genuinely cared about delivering high-quality work. 

We communicated via Slack, and we met twice weekly. The designed created agendas for each meeting and shared them in the Slack channel, which was helpful.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was most impressed by Bonanza’s ability to quickly understand our product and our needs. Our product has a lot of technical insurance terminology, making it complicated and challenging to understand. I tried my best to explain the terminology to the designer, who captured it immediately without needing any hand-holding. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We faced a challenging transition when our primary designer went on vacation because our new point of contact didn’t quite understand our project. Otherwise, we had no issues working together.

For what projects/services did your company hire Bonanza Design?

We plan a complete relaunch of our companies website this year. We had to refresh the colours of the CI and restructure the page from the scratch because we will launch new products. At all we needed design of 15 different page for desktop and responsive for mobile that should be done with Figma.

How did you select this vendor?

I searched on sortlist platform for Design agencies. We delivered all specs about the project and asked for quotations.

For the reason that we delivered already info about our target group and personas and our market there was no additional research required. The Bonanza team designed some mood boards as starting point for the design. The whole design was presented in Figma, which was an excellent solution to collaborate, comment and share.

Twice a week we had meetings with the team to discuss the results and view the work that was done. We iterated with them the illustrations needed for the website. They came up with great ideas, which they put into action. Step by step one page after the other got finished. In the middle of the process, the CMS development partner jumped in to give their input in order to have a smooth transition from design to web development. The web site will be programmed with NUXT.js and storyblok, a headless CMS.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are very happy with the work that Bonanza has done. The handover to the development team worked smoothly but the implementation is not yet finished. As a next step our inhouse-devs will take over to implement dynamic data connection for specific pages and the user administration that will be done in a separate back-end app.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow with Bonanza was very efficient. Their way to use Figma as the central resource platform for meetings and presentations and as playground for iterations is fantastic.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Behrad the CEO and project manager of Bonanza is very engaged into the project and kept his promises to never be tired to go one step more until the best solution is found. He also keeps pushing his team to deliver their best work and inspirations.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bonanza Design guided us through a dummy lean innovation sprint for a new product about cybersecurity for families and children. We had workshops, did design thinking, and created some landing pages with various value propositions. We also tested the landing pages and compared their different value propositions. The team helped us create a manual, which would be used to teach the process across the company, too.

The project was quickly and competently finished with Bonanza Design’s assistance. They brought market-oriented practices to the table, and they offered a good cost-to-quality ratio. We were satisfied with the results of the engagement and would most likely work with them again.

They coped well with our custom requirements and mostly stuck to the scheduled timeline. We used MURAL for digital workshops and communicated via Teams.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They helped clients make decisions by sharing all the pros and cons to ensure they'd have an informed decision. They were also excellent at doing lean innovation sprints, and they were also fast at implementing testing strategies.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Administration processes take time, and they could be more understanding on that part.

We first had a workshop for the two companies to begin to create a bit of a synergy around what we were looking to achieve. We started off with a 4 hour workshop to understand the needs and expectations that we were really looking for by the end of the process.

Following the workshop bonanza did a competitor analysis and begun giving us examples of the design layouts and once that was finalized we moved on to bringing the design to life with colors and graphics. Overall this was all done within a week. The bonanza team works extremely fast, but with a high quality of deliverables.

We worked directly with Behrad the project manager and lead designer as well and Anda the lead graphic designer for our project. She did a fantastic job creating an entirely new layout and flow for us to show case to our customers.

The project is currently still under construction from the web developers, but the internal feedback from our company is that things are now really at a next level for the brand and companies image.

We were looking for input from a consulting team.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bonanza Design did a workshop for our whole company to gather innovative ideas that could help drive the company forward and make the company an exciting place to work. The idea was that it’d be a bottom-up workshop that would tie in the company vision and strategy.

The team worked a lot on the team vision, and they knew about the company vision. The idea was for them to feed into what was important to us to make our company an exciting company to work for. They come up with ideas, sharing their understanding of our mission and how they could contribute. Each team was going to pick top ideas, and we’d filter from those ideas.

What they did was a culture workshop on how we could design the future. We figured out trends from that. Coaches ran the whole workshop, developed an agenda, did icebreakers for team bonding, and got the team to think about the company vision.

It was a motivational and creative workshop where we gathered ideas on how to become a more innovative and exciting workplace. They gathered information from the team. They weren’t consulting us, but they managed the workshop, filtered the information, and did the analysis afterward.

The analysis was of all the input that the team delivered. They presented the main themes, trends, and what people are looking for in us.

We worked together from June–July 2021. The engagement was three weeks, including the prep, workshop, and then presenting the analysis of the results after the workshop.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their team helped us get a better understanding. We can’t tie it back to revenue yet, and it’s still early to say. They gathered insights and summarized those. They provided learning for our company as to where we want to go. They were also very helpful on the day of the workshop.

Their team generated a lot of excitement in the team. They did icebreakers with the team, and they did some brainstorming. During the day, it was a really good exercise to get the team together that hasn’t been together for over a year because of COVID-19.

The whole project was done very professionally. They sent us an agenda for the day. They assessed with different teams what they’d also need in terms of materials on the day.

They managed the workshop very independently. The feedback from the team was that it was very insightful, good, and enjoyable. We’re happy with the analysis that was presented to us.

How did Bonanza Design perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management style was very good. We used emails and video calls. We also had the in-person workshop.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The whole project was managed very well. Their creative team was very adaptive to changes that had to be made. They were a very good partner to work with. The communication flow was also excellent.

I can’t think of anything that I’d have them improve. Expectations were met.
