I'm a former IT specialist and project manager at Sitowise Oy, a design, consulting, and technology company. Sitowise works to ensure a more sustainable environment and smarter urban development, as well as smooth transportation. Sitowise offer services related to real estate and buildings, infrastructure, planning services, service design and digital solutions in Finland and Sweden.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Blare Technologies Sp. z o.o.?
We needed expertise and talent with good value related to software development for smart city solutions, digital twins, virtual simulations, GIS work, and XR software solutions. Expertise in gamification in service design and use of game engines was also a leverage that we had interest in as a consulting house, which we were keen to increase in our services through a partnership with Blare Technologies Sp. z o.o.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Blare Technologies Sp. z o.o. took care of all aspects of the project, from software design to data processing and production of the software project. The project was managed by Sitowise, but Blare Technologies produced the execution of the design and software development for the most part.
They produced a digital twin that could simulate a real-world location with its physical assets and infrastructure, including buildings, sensors, smart city devices with connectivity, and reflecting the conditions that existed in the real-world location. Connectivity to dynamic data was a part of the body of work, as well as processing real-world aerial imaging and drone-captured 2D/3D GIS data.

How did you come to work with Blare Technologies Sp. z o.o.?
Blare Technologies (then known as SitoPoland) was working for us as a technology partner/provider, offering good value for cost in demanding software development projects related to smart cities, digital twins, virtual simulations, GIS work, and XR software solutions.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from November 2018 to November 2021.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We measured the project's success through milestones and weekly sprints. Blare Technologies finished project modules based on customer requirements. The final result was a modular digital twin solution deliverable that could be installed and operated on the customer's premises.
The customer was looking for a way to use a digital twin to help plan their projects in a modular way and test a project outcome before any physical infrastructure was in place. The same digital twin could also serve the purpose of communicating project deliverables to customers and help in sales and communication.
To my knowledge, the project deliverable helped in the planning process and sales communication/customer engagement. The customer indicated that they were impressed with the deliverable solution and adopted it into their body of work.
How did Blare Technologies Sp. z o.o. perform from a project management standpoint?
Blare Technologies always worked hard to deliver on time and went above and beyond to offer us the best service. Communication and planning always looked ahead and notified us well in advance if unforeseen issues came up. They offered multiple solutions to manage them. We communicated via both virtual and live meetings.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their expertise, commitment to great customer experience, real passion for complicated software projects, and open-minded attitude to work and collaborate in any way we asked were impressive.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I couldn't find any fault in them. Even if initial project resources were later found less than sufficient, Blare Technologies Sp. z o.o. remedied these by providing resources to ensure enough experts were available to finish on time and meet the specifications required for the deliverables.
