The scope of work with Bighorn Web Solutions LLC focused on developing a custom Shopify theme specifically tailored for conversion rate optimization and seamless integration with our existing ERP system. Key deliverables included designing a conversion-focused, fully responsive Shopify theme with features like optimized product pages, enhanced navigation, and strategic call-to-action placements aimed at driving more sales. 

They also integrated our ERP system to ensure real-time inventory updates, automated order processing, and streamlined customer data management. In addition to theme development, they provided ongoing support to refine the user experience and continuously improve conversion rates through data-driven enhancements.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

After implementing the custom Shopify theme and ERP integration, we saw a significant increase in conversion rates and a jump up in average order value (AOV) within the first three months. Our optimized user experience also led to a significant reduction in cart abandonment rates. Additionally, the ERP integration improved operational efficiency by automating inventory management and order fulfillment, reducing manual errors and processing time by over 30%. 

These results clearly demonstrated the success and impact of the project on both our sales performance and backend operations.

One area for improvement with Bighorn Web Solutions LLC could be better handling of third-party dependencies. While they were proactive and communicative, there were a few instances where progress was slowed due to delays from external integrations. Improving contingency planning for such scenarios or setting clearer expectations upfront could help keep timelines more consistent. 

That said, they were always quick to find solutions and did a great job minimizing the impact of these blockers on the overall project.

This is our second project working with Big Horn on designing and developing a 3D product configurator. My company works to build the 3D assets and configurability/code associated with the 3D assets and Big Horn designs the configurator front end and integrates it into our client (and theirs) e-commerce website. In this case they integrated our product into the client's new Shopify site.

The Big Horn team provided us with a test site link to monitor progress as well as to monitor and inspect any existing bugs delivered to them through our code for us to troubleshoot together.

Bighorn Web Solutions LLC has delivered our clients exceptionally high-quality experiences. They have the highest level of professionalism, have taken on very complex project requirements, and helped us stay on time, and on budget with our client and their deliverables. We have regular check ins as needed to continue to make progress through virtual meetings or email troubleshooting/bug resolution. We never wait more than 24 hours for a response.

Big Horn is a small team with product expertise that spans many different areas of e-commerce so we were able to work quickly and efficiently on delivering alongside each other. We needed to optimize our ecommerce presence and focus on the best user experioence possible to maximize our revenue potential. Ultimately we did a complete redesign and went with a custom headless theme implementation using Shopify's Hydrogyn and Oxygen setup. We also had the  Sanity.io CMS integrated to allow for an enhanced CMS and content management capabilities. Bighorn was an absolute dream to work with. They expertly and professionally delivered the following:

High quality work. Very few bugs or issues that got proactively caught and resolved quickly. The team goes above and beyond to ensure quality and does not nickel-and-dime us for every little thing we ask for. They "get it". Highly recommend.

Not necessarily. We threw a lot at them but they still handled everything like true professionals. You can tell they are veterans and know what they are doing.

I'm the e-commerce director of Donovan Marine, Inc., a wholesale distributor specializing in marine supplies, serving customers from its base in New Orleans, Louisiana.

What challenge were you trying to address with Bighorn Web Solutions LLC?

We hired Bighorn Web Solutions LLC to complete our multiyear e-commerce website project, completely replacing the existing legacy platform that accounted for a significant portion of the sales volume we handled. After years of struggling to have the project completed by DCKAP, we hired Bighorn Web Solutions LLC to get us over the finish line.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Bighorn Web Solutions LLC has helped us take the initial work done by DCKAP, which had stalled, to bring the website into a functional state while also implementing many customizations and upgrades required for various business functions. They've assisted with transitioning much of the website's functionality from the existing DCKAP integrator app to direct communication between the website and our ERP, P21.

On top of this, Bighorn Web Solutions LLC has also helped build and develop a PIM application leveraging the open-source Pimcore. Due to DCKAP suddenly ending support for the PIM program they were offering, we needed to develop a solution on a short timeline, and Bighorn Web Solutions LLC has helped us achieve this under difficult circumstances.

A former employee found and hired Bighorn Web Solutions LLC through a referral after working with DCKAP on the project previously.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Bighorn Web Solutions LLC in August 2024, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The main outcome we're looking for is to transition away from our legacy website, hopefully leading to an increase in business done through our e-commerce platform. We're not currently at a stage where we can measure the success on that front, but we currently have over 2,000 customers fully transitioned and ordering through the new website, which is great and will continue to grow by the week.

We hope to fully migrate early next year, with the 2026 season being our real first opportunity to measure the success of the new platform. The number one metric we'll use to measure the success of the website will be the percentage of business e-commerce accounts for. This has been steadily increasing even on the legacy platform, and the hope is that with the upgraded website, we'll see even more growth here.

We're also hoping to increase business from customers who currently do a lot of business with our competitors due to their e-commerce platforms. Obviously, customer feedback and satisfaction with the new platform will also play a major role in measuring success.

How did Bighorn Web Solutions LLC perform from a project management standpoint?

Meeting deadlines with deliverables on time has fluctuated throughout the project due to various circumstances. This has been a very complex project that has involved a lot of priority changes and complications throughout the project, many of which haven't been caused by Bighorn Web Solutions LLC. Some different projects throughout the year have ended up taking longer than the initial proposed timeline, namely the Pimcore solution scope, which has greatly exceeded the initial plan.

Our primary form of communication with Bighorn Web Solutions LLC is Slack and weekly meetings over Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Bighorn Web Solutions LLC's ability to find solutions to our complicated business requirements and their flexibility to adapt to the changing requirements necessary has been incredibly impressive. The team has been able to take our requests and quickly pivot to find solutions seamlessly.

Throughout the project, there have been many instances where we've essentially completely overhauled key functionality of the website, and this has required the patience and adaptability the Bighorn Web Solutions LLC team has displayed to accomplish this.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There have been times during the Pimcore development when we've had little to no communication with the lead developer on this portion of the project. That has made things a bit challenging and, in my opinion, has probably resulted in some delays that could have been avoided during that specific period.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Throughout the project, we've dealt with a lot of internal employee turnover that has required Bighorn Web Solutions LLC to adapt to our changing priorities and plans. Through all of this, they've been consistently reliable and helpful, ensuring the project hasn't encountered any large setbacks.

The project has also undergone a lot of scaling up and shifting priorities as the site has begun to take shape and we've received more internal feedback. Bighorn Web Solutions LLC has been very adaptable to these shifting goals, and the communication throughout has helped us work through these obstacles.
