A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the principal and founder of a financial services company.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?
We’ve just started the firm, so we hired Big Red Jelly to build our logo and brand style guide.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Big Red Jelly helped design our logo and put together a thematic marketing message. They also came up with our brand’s color palettes to maintain its consistency.
At present, they’re working on building our website.
What is the team composition?
For the brand design, we’ve worked with Lyndsie (Web & Brand Designer).
How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?
I was working on a Wix website and looking for ideas when I came across Big Red Jelly. Moreover, they were located in Utah while I was in Colorado, so their geographic location was also a good fit. On top of that, they had good reviews. As a result, I hired them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent around $3,800.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started the engagement in August 2021, and it’s ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We have no quantitative metrics at this point, but the initial response for the logo and designs are good. I’ve shown the logo, design, and brand messaging to some of my close friends and colleagues, and they’re impressed with Big Red Jelly’s work.
Specifically, Lyndsie has provided guidance in terms of colors, pulling me out of my comfort zone with bright colors, so to speak. Overall, the feedback we’ve received has been positive, and I’m hoping it carries through to when we launch the firm.
How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?
During the branding design project, Big Red Jelly’s project management has been highly organized. We’ve had a two-way communication, and it’s been fluid. Meanwhile, we’ve been less interactive or communicative in terms of the website development project.
To communicate, we have weekly Zoom calls and progress reports. We also use emails and periodic phone calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Big Red Jelly has done a good job of simplifying their processes. The team focuses on the things that they do well.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They can try to slow the process down slightly so that it wouldn’t feel rushed in some instances.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Have a good and clear outline of your objectives. Since I’m at the point of launching the firm, everything is new and changing. Implementing new things and changes can be a bit challenging. As a result, it’s crucial to have a clear plan of what you want to do.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of a pet consulting business called Patty Pet Psychic. I do consultations for pet owners that have problems with their pets.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?
I wanted to give a new look to my website; the old one didn’t represent the image that I wanted.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Big Red Jelly did a refresh to our website; I already had my texts, photos, and color schemes picked out, but they operated them in a way that improved the look of the site on different platforms. The page was set up on Wix to update it and add a blog and other features. I provided them with all the material from my other site, including the book’s colors that I published for my business.
They also interviewed me to understand my vision and help me pick out fonts and overall style assets.
What is the team composition?
I worked with 5–6 people from their team, including someone from their financial department, a senior analyst who helped define the project, a designer, and a creative director who did the branding.
How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?
They were referred to me by someone who knew about their work. We chose them because I liked their diversity, and they were friendly and approachable — they lived up to my expectations.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about $700 with them.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from August–September 2021.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their team got the work on time, and the partnership with them was nice — we had horrifying experiences with previous web designers, but Big Red Jelly did exactly what they said they’d do. This was the first time that I wasn’t angry with a vendor!
How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?
It improved throughout the engagement. Communication was good, and they were always on time for meetings and deadlines. They also showed me everything before we talked on the phone, so they also used time efficiently. In terms of tools, we used Zoom and Google Docs.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They understood my vision for my website, listened to what I wanted, and provided good ideas — it was a very collaborative process.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could implement a more friendly approach to do surveys instead of spamming us with requests.
Any advice for potential customers?
Be prepared with your written text and images; that’ll help make the process quicker and smoother.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I own a company called Dr. Shahana, and I give mental health presentations to larger private companies. I’m a family doctor working primarily in mental health.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?
We needed help with website development and branding excellence.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Big Red Jelly first analyzed my website and brand. They showed me any gaps I had and how they would solve them. Additionally, they conducted surveys with me regarding color schemes and design. The team then created branding rules based on that. Once we reached a consensus, they started working on the new website. The team completely rebuilt my website from the ground up. My previous one wasn’t very functional, so they made sure the new one was both functional and designed according to the branding guidelines we came up with.
What is the team composition?
I worked with two people on branding, one of whom is a brand manager. I also worked with a web developer and designer.
How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?
A vendor that I was working with recommended Big Red Jelly to me. After our initial meeting, I decided to work with them because they provided a logical framework for the project.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $1,500.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from April–June 2021.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We haven’t launched the site yet, but my strategists looked at the site and agreed that it was highly functional. The lead magnets, forms, and target audience were all very clear. Overall, I’m delighted with their work. They really showed me the gaps of my previous website and fixed it without charging an arm and a leg for it.
How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?
Big Red Jelly did such a great job on project management. They stood out from other vendors because of how responsive they were. Furthermore, the Big Red Jelly team was clear about what I needed, how much it would cost, and the benefits of an improved site. They never made me feel ignorant, which I was grateful for.
In terms of communication, we had weekly meetings, which kept everybody accountable. The team never missed a deadline. The value they provided was so high that I now go to them for referrals for other trustworthy vendors I could work with.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their services were very comprehensive. The team was patient and compassionate — they engaged with me and were passionate about my work. They really met me halfway.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything they could improve.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Just be transparent with the team. Admit when you’re unsure of something so they can fill in those gaps.

A photography studio company hired Big Red Jelly to create a website. The goal is to create a booking system for users and the internal team.
Thanks to Big Red Jelly's engagement, the end client praised the website for being friendly-user and functional. They have provided regular updates about the project and are quick to respond to concerns. The team is adaptable, responsive, and creative.
The client submitted this review online.
BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
I'm the owner of a photography studio. We offer a space for people to rent on an hourly basis for photoshoots. We also offer a consulting type service to help people find the best vendors in the area or to help plan their photo shoot for them.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire Big Red Jelly, and what were your goals?
We are a brand new company and needed a professional website for all of our bookings and payments. Our initial goal was to create an automated booking website that was easy for us and the customers to use.
SOLUTION
How did you select Big Red Jelly and what were the deciding factors?
We were recommended this vendor by a friend who said the company makes websites for small to medium sized businesses. We researched their previous work and found that the style matched our vision for our website. It was clean and professional looking, was fast to use, and looked trustworthy.
We researched common price ranges for building a new website. We set our expectation based on averages of several articles we read. After seeing their pricing options on their website and after a short consultation call, we saw that they could work with our budget and could deliver a product we could be proud of.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Our agreement was for 3 branding draft meetings and 3 web development draft meeting. We filled out questionnaires before the branding and web development portions, detailing preferences we had. Each meeting was a week apart. Our first meeting was essentially looking over some various styles for logos and colors and describing what we liked and didn't like about them.
The second meeting was confirming our colors and choosing our favorite logo from a variety that they made. The last meeting was getting the branding style guide and the variations of the final logo approved. For the web development, the first meeting was looking at the general layout of the site on WordPress and giving our feedback on the structure, colors, and plugins we wanted. The second meeting was looking at site with the media content we provided on it. We sent them emails periodically throughout the week and they quickly implemented the adjustments.
The last week we finalized our site, got them the information to have it go live, and it went live within a day. They gave instructions on taking over the website for ourselves and how to make changes. Technologies used throughout the process and on our site include WordPress, Acuity Scheduling (plug in on site), Zoom (meetings), Google Drive (provide content), email (communications), Typeform (pre meeting questionnaire), Big Red Jelly Hosting (pricing to host our site).
How many people from the Big Red Jelly team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We met with a business development specialist to get the cost and scope of the project. We met with a brand and creative director to do our branding and web development.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We have no metrics since our business just opened, but feedback from customers who have used the website has been extremely positive. We have had no complaints and have had several bookings before our grand opening.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We met weekly for each draft we had. It took about 2 months from starting the process to having a live finished product. Weekly meetings were done over Zoom. Communications outside of that were by email.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The employees were easy to work with and felt investing into making our site look good and function well. They were prompt to keep us updated and make changes we requested. We didn't feel pressured to upgrade or spend money before we were ready.
They have been flexible in working with different technologies than the ones they suggested.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
In the statement of work the project was said the be completed by April 30, 2021. We had no hitches and went through the process smoothly but didn't finish until May 13, 2021, two weeks late. We didn't bring it up with them since we weren't on a timeline. We feel like if it needed to have been done by the date given, it would have been possible for them.
The person working with us had problems getting the photo gallery to be in a masonry style. I have experience in programming and when I got access to the backend, was able to find a solution to put the gallery in masonry style within a few hours.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
VictoryPower is a solar sales company. I am the executive administrator.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire Big Red Jelly, and what were your goals?
We are in the process of rebranding and needed a fresh, improved website. Our goals were to create an esthetically pleasing site that was clean, neat, and easy to navigate.
SOLUTION
How did you select Big Red Jelly and what were the deciding factors?
We selected Big Red Jelly from a referral and chose them because of the examples of their previous work.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
We had an initial meeting with Joshua to discuss our wants and goals for the new site. One week later he was able to deliver our first site draft and we were already impressed. We gave feedback during the meeting that was change almost instantly for us and then continued to provide feedback throughout the week for our 2nd follow up meeting. If we had been able to get our material to them sooner, we could have easily had a live site 2 weeks earlier than their estimated time. Big Red Jelly was very meticulous and thorough in their corrections and details of the site.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We mostly worked with one employee for the site, Joshua. There we minor managerial emails from a few other employees for payments and administrative needs, but the creation and follow through was done by Joshua.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Our site just barely went live but we've already received great feedback from our employees themselves that the improvement is exponential compared to our previous site.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Communication was done through email and zoom meetings. We had a shared google drive that we added feedback and material too as needed. Zoom meetings were weekly for a visual review and interactive feedback. We were also able to contact Joshua as needed and he and his team we're very responsive and efficient.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The efficiency, talent, and attention to detail. Big Red Jelly has paid attention to everything we asked for. Any adjustments (which we had very few suggestions) were immediately addressed and taken care of. They have a great timeline so you know exactly where you're at in each step of the process and they don't let anything fall through the cracks.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
No, overall we were very impressed with the team at Big Red Jelly. Joshua was professional, personable, and great to work with.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president’s distinguished professor at the Washington State University. I’m also the director of sp³nw.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?
I was looking for an organization to help us with website construction and digital presence for new startup companies in the area of Spokane, Washington.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Big Red Jelly helps us with logo design, digital marketing, and social media presence. They created our main website and have been creating sites for all the other companies on our company member’s portfolio page. They build all the sites on WordPress to be easily edited by the users, and they provide a training video at the end of the development, which takes 4–5 weeks.
Big Red Jelly also helps us with e-commerce infrastructure when needed, and they work with the founders to increase our social media presence.
We have created the websites from scratch for almost all of the companies, except sp³nw northwest. For that company, we already had the logo made by a team in the university, which included all the color and font pallets that we would use. Usually, we let Big Red Jelly create the whole design, but this was an exception because we had to get the chancellor’s approval first.
For every project, I get quotes from them that cover the whole scope including logo design, digital marketing, and social media management services. They put together the entire wireframe and populate it with the content provided by our founders. We get both an à la carte quote and a package price. We’ve implemented the package price for more than 12 companies now, including Clear Solutions Biomedical, my personal website.
What is the team composition?
We work with a billing person, Sierra (Brand Director) for designs, and a few other people. We’ve seen a variety of team members, and we’re providing enough business to hire more people.
How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?
Big Red Jelly was a reference from a colleague of mine. He connected me with Josh (Co-Owner). I reached out to Josh, got a quote, and we started working together.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent close to $15,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together around September 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Big Red Jelly’s work has been transformational for all the companies involved. They now can write grant proposals and include a website in there. The people that review the proposals know that these are real companies that are incorporated.
For my company site, it has given us great credibility, and now we’re on a mission to get incorporated as a 501(c)(3), which requires university approvals. We can now point them to our website, which has made administrative bureaucracy much easier.
Clear Solutions Biomedical is a platform that I use to recruit attorneys who want to hire me for expert witness work. Big Red Jelly’s efforts are working well because I'm getting additional jobs that I wasn't getting before.
We get what we pay for. They put together a reasonable package for a very reasonable product. I know that, if I had a bigger budget, I could get a much zippier and inspiring website up and running. However, most of the companies we’re working with don’t need that — they need a credible, reasonable presence, and a website that is easy to edit. The quality of their product is really high — they do a very professional job.
How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?
Big Red Jelly uses Calendly to schedule meetings. They get us all invited from different parts of the country and at different times of the day. We have briskly run 30-minute meetings once a week for each company, so it usually takes 4–5 meetings to get it all done.
Big Red Jelly operates very efficiently. Big red jellyfish fishers are the most efficient fishers in the Japanese sea, so I think the logo and name for this company reflect exactly that efficiency.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Big Red Jelly is very personable. They're very accommodating and willing to fail and try harder the next time. They work well with faculty members who don’t have a clue of what they want until it's been suggested to them. They work well with people who are more business-oriented like me. They can work with experienced people, as well as with neophytes.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Sometimes Big Red Jelly’s designs are a little bit simplistic, and the communication we've had with a couple of people from their team could be more effective.
One web developer wasn’t working well for us. I told Josh about it, and he shipped this to somebody else. If I have a complaint, I’m always very straightforward with Josh, and he addresses it right away.
Their billing people have also caused some problems. I ask Josh to get them under control every time because they keep sending billing notices every week, even when we're still in the first week of a project. The invoice shouldn't be sent until after the fifth week when the job is done.
Any advice for potential customers?
I would recommend Big Red Jelly to people and companies with lower budgets and still want a good product for a reasonable price.
They’re a very young shop, but they’re good. If you want experienced industry veterans who overthink things, this is not your team. These are young people who are trying very hard. They’re learning a lot of it themselves, and we still are benefiting from that.
Write Josh an email, get a quote, and get started right away.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm a partner for our organization called Advise Marketing, and we’re a full-service digital advertising and marketing agency.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?
My partner and I wanted to bring our very sophisticated marketing experiences to Main Street businesses. We are both highly experienced marketing professionals who primarily worked with large-type companies like Madison Avenue for a number of years.
Our slogan is “Madison Avenue meets Main Street”, so we brought the strategy, the content, and all of our know-how to our new venture, but we didn’t have the infrastructure in place to execute the digital side. We were then introduced to Big Red Jelly to provide us with the digital platform to able to execute our services for our clients.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
The starting point for any digital strategy is the website, and one of the key pieces of expertise that Big Red Jelly brings to the table is their skill in digital branding. They’re very capable of creating a website that not only gets the brand out there, but also converts leads in a funnel.
From there, they provide SEO optimization and we would branch out depending on the needs of our clients. This includes social media posting, pay-per-click advertising, Google My Business optimization in conjunction with the website, and a full range of other digital tools that would help small clients drive leads to their site.
What is the team composition?
We work with around 5–6 people, and our main point of contact is the account manager.
How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?
My partner had worked with a number of other digital agencies, which he didn’t have any success with. They talked big, made big promises, but they never delivered. He had used Big Red Jelly for a smaller project in the past, and when we put our agency together, he told me they had what it takes to deliver and we should give them a shot. That's how I was introduced to them, and we just kept adding clients to what they’ve been doing for us and so far, it's been working really well.
How much have you invested with them?
Our investment with them depends on what level of service each client is signing up for. Between fees and media, we probably spend around $3,000 a month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We first started working together in August 2019, and it’s still ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Within one year of working with Big Red Jelly, we were able to increase the website traffic and phone calls of one of our clients by 124%. This client had been in business for over 15 years — they were doing fine, but they weren’t really growing as much as they’d like to.
Big Red Jelly's web development process is also really high-quality. They first get a strategic overview of what the client is trying to accomplish — they spend the extra time to do that, and they don’t just jump in and whip out a quick website. From there, they have some really talented designers to help the client with the branding such as logo development.
Moreover, they use the latest tools, add-ons, and plugins for WordPress sites. Their style is creative, engaging, but also very much attuned to the best practices for conversion and driving leads to the site. There were times in the past when other agencies would charge us for more money after taking the extra time to accomplish a task. Big Red Jelly would just go to the wall for us, and they wouldn’t stop until the task is done right and working the way we all expect it to.
How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?
We had weekly update meetings in the early going with our clients, then we moved it to only twice a month. We utilize a project management tool internally, and Big Red Jelly has been accommodating to work with us on that. They have their own internal system, but they’re willing to use ours so that we didn’t have to reinvent the wheel. In addition, they also built a dashboard for each client which we use to track all of their digital channels.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It’s a combination of really good strategic thinking and branding, with very strong expertise in using digital tools. They’re just very committed to going beyond 100% for a client, and doing whatever it takes for that client to be successful.
Moreover, what I also appreciate about Big Red Jelly is that if we have any kind of issue, we could go to our account manager, but we could also get to the person that’s actually doing the hands-on work. I am able to often call Josh (Co-Owner) if we have a website problem and he would provide us with immediate action.
If I have direct mail or email issues, I can talk directly to our expert and get that resolved. They’re very open, transparent, and responsive to our needs.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Recently, they’ve been really focused on what they’re the best at, which is good. However, one of the few challenges we had with them, as with any company dealing with turnovers, was transitioning when a key person on the team moves on.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Work with them to be really clear on your objectives and strategies. Let them know exactly what you’re trying to accomplish. Additionally, give them the leeway to use their creative and technical expertise to deliver — don’t try to micromanage them. They’re really creative and innovative.

Big Read Jelly developed a Wordpress website for a real estate company from the design to the content. They also used the realtor’s logo to match the website's color scheme.
The feedback from people has been positive, with most remarking on the design and high-quality work from Big Red Jelly. Although there aren’t any metrics to measure yet, the team understood the project and helped the realtor to improve their knowledge about websites.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a realtor and a separate agent. I also have brokers I work for.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Big Red Jelly?
I wanted to have my own website because it’s really important to have one nowadays.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Big Red Jelly built a WordPress website for me from the design to the content writing. I gave them some input like my logo, and they made sure the colors on the website matched and flowed well together.
What is the team composition?
I worked with two people, Ben (Director of Growth) and Sara (Digital Marketing). Ben started the company and he was on my first calls to get to know the scope of the project. Then, he turned me over to Sara, and we detailed more of the work.
How did you come to work with Big Red Jelly?
A person of a title company I met with has worked personally and professionally with Big Red Jelly. I regretted not having a website yet and she recommended I look over their work and their website. I met them and I felt really comfortable talking to them and going on from there.
How much have you invested with them?
I did get a couple of discounts because I was referred and I’m a local. For the website, it was $500–$550. I also purchased three domains and I did my hosting through them. The total was around $700, minus the hosting which was recurring.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in November 2020 and the website went live in February 2021. It probably could have been done more quickly, but I was trying to get some content written, and it took me a little bit longer than I anticipated with Christmas and closings that I had.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I haven’t had metrics as far as rankings or SEO because they will come with time. I did get feedback from my friends and my husband. Everyone had great things to say about the design and the quality of work.
How did Big Red Jelly perform from a project management standpoint?
Big Red Jelly was great. For any meetings that we had, I got an invitation on my calendar and they were always on time. Anytime I needed to change, if I had an appointment coming up, they flexible. I have no complaints at all in that regard.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They met me at my level by explaining how things worked and what needed to be done because I knew very basic things about website design. Sara made a great video for me so that I could change things on my own down the road. They made sure that I understood everything and they were always there for me to ask questions.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Honestly, I can’t think of anything they could improve on right now.
Any advice for potential customers?
Essentially, make sure you do your part so that they can do their part.

They believed that results and creativity aren’t mutually exclusive, so Big Red Jelly was built on the foundation of three pillars: applied creativity, efficiency, and real results.
