BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the digital marketing manager of a digital marketing agency. We do different types of work, such as SEO, Wikipedia reputation, PPC, and specifically link building. We have various clients that we work with depending on what service they’re looking for.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with BASE Search Marketing?

We hired BASE to build out links for some of these clients that are looking to create a number of backlinks.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

BASE has created an Excel spreadsheet that contains all our orders. We have our own specific order ID number and label. The spreadsheet has the dates when we order something, the keywords, and links that the clients are looking for.  

I’m the one who manages the orders, so I let BASE know what the client wants to have an exact match. Clients typically want a specific keyword and the price varies from 25–40 based on the average domain authority. BASE generates the price for me with the expected due date. I confirm with the client the services they’ve ordered, and we can go back and look for 24 hours if the order status is confirmed. Once it’s ready, BASE has another section called live link, which we can click on, and it’s what they fill out.

What is the team composition?

I’ve been working with Zach (Managing Director) as our main point of contact. He’s our fulfillment manager and the person who we usually go to if there’s an issue with the spreadsheet or a bad link.

How did you come to work with BASE Search Marketing?

I don’t know because I came later on board and my company had already started the project with BASE.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I believe the partnership began in January 2019. We’re still working with them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We use different services, but only fill out links for clients, so the impact depends on them and how often they’re getting written about. Clients compare the results to what they saw from organic efforts before.

I don’t think we have a good measurement of that. It’s a continual push to make sure certain things are getting bills out each month and that always depends on the clients’ budget. If it’s big, we use BASE because they’re more expensive than other link-building services, but they have better quality links.

How did BASE Search Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

All communication is through Excel documents, and, if an issue comes up, we communicate via email. BASE is very easy to work with. They’re really quick to respond, which I appreciate. If an issue pops up, such as a dead link or spreadsheet, they’re always giving updates, rebuilding the link, or fixing them for us right away. There have been a few problems that are overdue, but BASE usually meets the deadline. 

Once a month, we have people on our team that go through a few links to evaluate each building service. It has happened that we want to use a specific BASE’s service because we’ve noticed the quality of the page and content compared to other services. The quality is good along with matching up with the same domain authority that we’ve requested.

What did you find most impressive about them?

BASE’s quality of content is the most impressive aspect, especially other services we’ve worked with. They understand what they’re writing and who the client is. That’s very helpful because we’ve had that problem with other providers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There have been glitches with the spreadsheet, but that’s a technology issue, and it always gets back. It doesn’t have to do with BASE, and it also doesn’t slow us down.

Any advice for potential customers?

Be willing to spend more money than you consider and get a better quality link compared to other services.
