App requirements: 1) Monthly, weekly or daily, at either a random time or at a time of the user’s choosing, the user will receive a randomly chosen message on the app and optionally by email. • The list of messages from which the app will draw has to be manageable by an admin. 

• The app will need to keep track of which messages and on which day the user received them A major function of the app will be the ability of the user to see and search for past messages 
• A user of the app should never get a message a second time unless they have already received every available message. 

1. Make the display customizable by allowing the user to choose from a wide variety of colors and fonts.
2.  All the user to share messages easily via text or email. Include links to get the app itself. 
3. Send messages to the user for the first 30 days for free after which they will be able to continue to receive them by choosing from a variety of subscription plans.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The app, Daily Lightamins, has been available in the Google Play Store since January. It has a well-designed app icon that stands out on one's phone. The app is easy to use, looks great and meets the original requirements. I receive app messages daily as well as warnings when my subscription is about to expire. With one tap I can bring up a screen that allows me to easily share a message I received with others. The admin section is easy to use and was an expected surprise to the work they were doing.

There were delays although some of them may have been caused by me having to acquire the wide variety of items necessary for the app. When it came to requirements changes and bug fixes, Apptunix was easy to work with and usually responded in a very timely manner. We communicated mostly through Slack and Google Meet.

The friendliness of the management. My manager has been easy to work with, patient and responsive.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Apptunix could have done differently?

Yes, I wish we had communicated more frequently using Google Meet as opposed to Slack because then you can have genuine discussions instead of messaging sentences back and forth. I would have liked to meet weekly with the team to facilitate better communication as I feel like it would have helped to minimize design and bug issues.

We needed someone to help us develop a mobile app that we can launch in the marketplace.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Apptunix is helping us design and develop an Android and iOS app that our customers can use to peruse our services and manage their appointments. They also integrated an admin panel for back-office management.

At the beginning of the project, they provided a prototype that represents the journey of the app. We then reviewed their prototype to ensure that they implemented our requirements and after giving them our feedback and final approval, they proceeded to the development of the app.

The main tools they utilized are Native and AngularJS, but we’re looking to increase the scope of features once the business is operational. We’re currently beta testing the app as we look to launch it soon.

We have an overall good experience working with Apptunix as they’re able to deliver all our requirements to make a successful app. The project has progressed greatly since the initial phase, and they’ve been very proactive and responsive in offering and receiving feedback.

How did Apptunix perform from a project management standpoint?

The team is highly communicative and receptive when it comes to being timely with their deliveries and resolving issues. Moreover, they’ve provided me with suggestions we can incorporate to expand the app and bring it to a broader level.

Furthermore, they’re very genuine when it comes to defining and justifying the cost of features we need to implement in the app.

We mainly interact through Skype and Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with the quality of features they’ve developed into the app. They all seem to be functioning smoothly so customers can easily navigate through the platform.

I’m the co-founder of an e-commerce startup.

What challenge were you trying to address with Apptunix?

I hired them to build two applications for me.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Through a series of meetings over Zoom, we gave them exactly what we wanted to do. One of the applications was just a plain, Vanilla JS-based e-commerce mobile application. We just had to give them the idea of what we wanted to do and what we wanted to use it for, so they could customize it to our needs. Also, the application was built for iOS and Android.

What is the team composition?

This part was a bit challenging because of the pandemic, especially in India they were affected very badly. There was a little bit of shuffling of members, and we didn’t have one consistent team to work with. However, as soon as things went back to normal, we had one team to work with and everything went smoothly. Overall, I probably worked with up to 10 people.

How did you come to work with Apptunix?

I found them online. I currently reside in Dubai, and I wanted a company that was based in the UAE, making it easy to settle accounts and reach anyone in case we need support.

Also, Apptunix was actually one of three companies that we were considering. I was contacted by their sales representative in 2020 — he was a very nice guy and was personable and became the main reason why we went with them.

We’ve probably spent close to $30,000 USD.

We started working with them in June 2020, and our engagement is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The key metric would basically be the fact that our app is now available on both the Play and App Store. I had a few demos with them, which looked fantastic, but it wasn’t until I actually saw the final app that I knew that this was all worth it. I can finally tell customers that they can download our app.

How did Apptunix perform from a project management standpoint?

The latest team has been performing really well. We communicate via Slack mostly, but we also used WhatsApp. Also, they’re always available when we need them to give us support or assurance.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What distinguishes them from other providers is their hands-on approach. For instance, when their owner found out about our frustrations in communication and the pacing of some tasks, he immediately got involved and moved things along — I really appreciated that, and it has made me want to continue doing business with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I understand that small businesses go through a lot of tough times, but they should never stop improving. In this project, they need to do a better job of making sure that the client never feels like they’re lost or left out and knows who the project manager is.

Furthermore, they should make sure that whoever they assign as the project manager is empowered to make decisions and can execute, preventing any unnecessary back and forth. 

Lastly, they need to be extremely detailed with their deliverables and have payments attached to clear and specific milestones. For some projects, we had already paid 70–80% but only got around 30% of what was expected. These little things make a huge difference because the last thing a client wants to feel is that the goal post has been moved.

We started receiving builds as per milestones, our feedback was quickly incorporated and after completion of milestones as per target dates, we finally went live. An iOS app, an android app, a landing page and an admin panel were the key deliverables and were completed on time with utmost quality.
