I hired anomaly to make my new artist persona a branding video to explain who I am and what I am about. Recently went through an entire re-branding campaign and with a new brand comes new brand awareness so anomaly was hired to make a video to show and create more of a brand image around my new music.

What were your goals for this project?

My goals for this project are still in the works but ultimately it would be to bring awareness to my brand and music, while accurately representing my authentic self through what anomaly captures and makes into the final video.

How did you select Anomaly Films?

I selected anomaly for many reasons, we’ve worked together previously and every time they blow away my expectations. They’ve also won bucks happening best media production company, and countless other awards. And mostly they’re way of working with you feels comfortable and relaxed which makes it much easier to express your authentic self in the project.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

Once I decided on doing a video I reached out to jack at anomaly and told him what I was looking for and things I needed help with that I thought a video of his could provide me. We then started brainstorming concepts and sending reference videos for a style we were going for. Then we chose some locations to shoot at and a rough guide to what i could discuss to show off my brand.

On the days of shooting jack and sometimes his assistant would come, set up the lighting and scene and cameras (very quickly) and chat about what we’re about to shoot. It’s always great when jack gives his input because he always knows what to say or how the shot should look in his head and is exceptional at bringing that to life on camera.

After each session he always provides some screen grabs or short clips after ward to assure me that they came out good and keep me engaged in the project through the process! We’re still currently filming for this project but I have no doubt once the editing phase starts the video will be delivered well before the due date.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Some of this was provided within the last answer but it was usually either just jack or jack and an assistant. They always brought tons of lighting options and multiple cameras for the shoot. They had great feedback on how I should be placed, what to do with my hands, how I could rephrase my wording to more accurately convey my brand and much more. They provided and posted behind the scenes content to promote me, and gave me several photos and clips from the shoots each time. They always worked extremely efficient and time savvy, they seem to never be doubtful or unsure of what to shoot!

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project is still in the works but just from the previews I’ve seen I already know this project will perfectly describe my brand and my music. Everything from the scenes to the color grading they chose fits perfectly with what i was going for in my head.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was amazing! Every time I had an idea they always knew what I was trying to say or aim for and made it far better than I could’ve imagined. Every single time. They were always on time or early, and efficient with changing scenes and switching out gear. Any little detail I noticed or nitpicked at they always corrected it for me and with always with a smile. All around great vibes and energy and working with them has always left me feeling accomplished and successful after every shoot.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

What is most impressive is the extensive knowledge about all of the areas video can touch on. It’s not just that they know their camera gear but they know people and the world and can easily manipulate their knowledge of video to fit any type of mold a client would have in mind. For example, I know my own brand very well but sometimes wording it is hard and I could say a sentence in a take, cut and ask how I could make that more concise for my brand and they always knew how to make it fit or really make what I was trying to say stand out.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I think the only area for improvement would for them to eventually expand their team so they could tackle even more projects than they are physically capable of at the moment. The more people anomaly hets to work with the more people’s businesses and brands will be better off!

I'm the owner of CrossFit MFP, a gym business.

What challenge were you trying to address with Anomaly Films?

I wanted to do video marketing to highlight what my gym provides and what we do. We wanted to use that for our social media and website, and bring about new clients and leads for our business. Additionally, I envisioned that more people would spread the word about what my business can do.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I create the general ideas of what I want them to develop. For example, when we developed our “meet our members” videos which were 2–4 minutes long, there were interviews showing people working out and featured people in the gym.

We also did videos where he made a collage of people working at the gym, doing interviews with me, and explaining what we do at the gym as well as interviewing other members. Basically, all of the ideas would come from me, and then he would create the content. 

We would also have back and forth feedback discussing what we thought worked well—it's a collaboration. 

What is the team composition?

I only work with Jack (Owner).

How did you come to work with Anomaly Films?

He worked on some projects for people that I knew and I was really intrigued by his work. Since we had mutual connections, I asked them to do one project. After that, I immediately saw how good his work was and how unique it was. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve probably invested almost $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started our first project in October 2019, and we collaborate on a project by project basis. We recently completed a video that ran from July–September 2020. I'm still going to do projects with Anomaly Films.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Everything has been amazing. He does a really good job of being mindful; when he comes in and sets up the stuff, he quietly moves around, does his work, and he doesn't make us feel uncomfortable. He also gets really good shots that I completely think are unreal.  

He’s very skilled and smart in the way he creates productions—it's absolutely worth it. He makes you excited for him to bring out the content. His camera and content are all unique and of high quality—it's probably by far some of the best video production tools  I've ever seen or have the opportunity to work with.

How did Anomaly Films perform from a project management standpoint?

They have a perfect project management process. We communicate through email and they have been receptive to feedback. Whenever I give Jack feedback and if I want something changed, he does it right away. Above all, he's open-minded, flexible, and gives suggestions. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have definitely helped my business and market it in such a way that a lot of other businesses have not been able to do. They have taken my business to another level and they've helped us show people what I can provide rather than just making a small post on social media. Their work is definitely a game-changer. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Perhaps they could get the content out quicker, but then that's not a good thing. It's fine that they take their time, so there's really nothing negative that I've experienced.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a game plan of what you want. Give them a clear outline and be patient because things take time. Take the leap to work with them—it’s worth the investment.
