Overall, the amplitude demonstrated commendable project management skills throughout our engagement. Their sessions were consistently conducted with professionalism and accuracy, and they were flexible in accommodating our schedule adjustments, responding promptly to any changes. However, a minor area for improvement lies in providing presentations with more notice, allowing us adequate time for review and feedback before sessions.

What impressed me most was the team's remarkable ability to deliver commendable work despite their smaller size. The trainer's adaptability and professionalism were truly noteworthy, as they effortlessly tailored their approach to suit our group's dynamics. Despite facing a few challenges, their exceptional willingness to collaborate and find solutions demonstrated a forward-thinking mindset that greatly contributed to our success.

Are there any areas for improvement or something amplitude inc. could have done differently?

It's worth noting that while the team's performance was impressive overall, there's room for improvement in terms of project management. Specifically, providing additional buffer time between meetings and to review presentations could enhance the overall efficiency of our collaboration.

I am the COO. I oversee the transformation from a traditional print publisher to a multi-platform digital and social publisher. We are a five brand media publisher in the professional beauty vertical with a social footprint of over 3 million followers

For what projects/services did your company hire Amplitude, and what were your goals?

Creative Age Publications needed website Search Engine Optimization and SEO Training for our editorial department. Articles were not posted correctly in the CMS, and the editorial staff was merely cutting-and-pasting content from print to digital without SEO best practices. Our in-house engineer was not well versed in certain technical website SEO best practices. Multiple issues were identified that were problematic in how our site was developed. Our goal was to clean up all the errors and eliminate impediments to proper SEO.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We received proposals from about 3-4 companies, and then followed up with in-person interviews. Amplitude came in with a team and made a compelling case as the preferred vendor to hire. They understood our business so there was no learning curve to slow down the process.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and campaigns.

Creative Age Publications contracted with Amplitude to assist in growing organic SEO traffic to two of their websites, {BeautyLaunchpad.com and Nailpro.com}. We started with initial audits/strategic plans and then executed tactics in the areas of technical, on-page and off-page optimization.

There was group and one-on-one training with our editorial staff on how to best adapt writing for SEO. The initial audit report was eye opening and provided mounds of data and insightful information that allowed us to learn more about the direction we needed to move. A statement of work, top priorities, timeline, in-person meetings, training sessions, status reports were all part of the engagement of services

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

I believe there were three key stakeholders that participated with our internal team. There was an overall account executive for day-to-day communication. There was an engineer that worked with our web developer on technical issues. There was an SEO specialist that completed analysis and training with staff.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

In six months, we successfully grew traffic by 54.3% for {Beauty Launchpad} and 50.7% for {Nailpro}. They found a technical error in the website development that prevented most of our archival content from being indexed by search engines. That fix was significant.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

They were always available from in-person regular meetings to phone and email communication. Because we were budget challenged, we had no room for project creep and had to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The patience with our non-technical editorial team and additional one-one-one training was most valuable to teach the proper SEO skills and best practices in posting content in our CMS. They had a very human touch and diffused the technical challenges we had on our end. Each member of the Amplitude team had strong specialization in the breadth and scope of what they were bringing to the table as part of the spectrum of services delivered.

We are a growing business evolving from small to medium in scale. We engaged Amplitude as a strategic partner to perform HR Generalist functions, capability development for our young management team and strategic coaching for our managing partners.

We have a goal to be a great place to work. We wanted to bring in a partner that had the mindset and expertise to help us navigate a very challenging time and build a positive, innovative performance driven culture.

How did you select Amplitude?

We looked at several firms and even had a short engagement that we exited. We learned that give our expectations for the partner, we required a team that was willing to understand our business operations and the external market pressures we are facing. In addition, they needed experience with organizations that had a combination of office and field workers. This adds a complexity to HR Strategy that can’t be overlooked.

Amplitude was selected because of two primary reasons. They have work experience with some of the best run performance driven cultures that have the complexity of office and field works and their approach is uniquely personal, they are not pushing an agenda. They listen and ask intelligent questions to gain an understanding and then provide advice.

There are several components to the engagement: 1. Partner Leadership Strategy – regular strategy and advisory sessions with the managing partners 2. Senior Management 360+Coaching – Implementation of 360 assessment, personal development plan and regular coaching for the management team 3. HR Helpdesk – Complete outsourcing of HR Generalist functions

What was the team composition?

Our engagement is with a Senior HR Consultant that runs the Strategy and 360+Coaching programs. They bring in Legal and other subject matter experts as required. The HR Helpdesk is a separate team that we contact through a general number or email address.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

We are only 12 weeks into the engagement and we are already seeing positive results on many fronts. We have revised our corporate communication plan, modernized our employee review process and re-architected incentive plans for a few roles all with very positive feedback. The framework for the 360 has been completed and we expect to role it out in the 2-3 weeks. We are very happy with the current progress and are very optimistic about the potential benefits of our larger intiatives that are going to be implemented.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We have been very satisfied with the workflow. We have a Teams channel for communicating and a sharepoint site for document collaboration. A regular meeting cadence has been established for the advisory sessions that works well for all parties.

What did you find most impressive about this vendor?

Their speed to provide value and ability to guide than to wait for direction are impressive proactive approach.

I'm the VP of student success at George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario. We're a post-secondary institution with approximately 25,000 students across four campuses in the city of Toronto. As VP, I oversee a team of approximately 300  full-time employees.

What challenge were you trying to address with Amplitude?

The creation of my team was a new structure. Amplitude helped to frame our thinking as a division within the organization around organizational change. I engaged with them to help the leaders within the division, which included about 25 directors and managers, to better extend their thinking around change and change leadership within the post-secondary setting.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Amplitude provided a series of three workshops through which the leaders in the division engaged in a number of activities where they could develop a change proposal and a change communication plan within their respective departments. 

I had a couple of consultation calls with Adrian (Founder & Principal), and he then provided an initial project plan. The deliverables included the provision of workshops, ensuring the presentation of all materials, and provision of any extra learning materials to support the development of the employees.

Adrian was my primary point of contact. We liaised directly with him throughout the engagement.

I found Amplitude through professional networks. Adrian has also been my friend and colleague for many years. I sought him out as I was new to the organization and sought his guidance around a new leadership role within a new group in the organization.

The engagement was from April–December 2018. We also re-engaged with Adrian to evaluate our progress and fine-tune any planning that needed to be taken into consideration.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Approximately 80% of the managers and directors who participated in the workshops were able to implement the changes they’d proposed and worked with within their departments. By virtue of being able to implement the various change projects, the outcomes were successful. 

How did Amplitude perform from a project management standpoint?

They were extremely approachable and relatable. We were also able to access their client website for resources where they archived presentation materials and additional tools that participants could use in their change planning over the course of our engagement. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I found them to be very responsive to feedback. They looked at the engagement as an iterative process. It wasn't that they developed a project plan and then implemented it as if it was etched in stone. They worked with us to understand how the participants were responding to the content and how things may need to change or pivot. 

They very quickly understood the unique organizational context we were in, and they had a particular sensitivity to interpersonal leadership dynamics among the group. They came in a manner that built trust and was accessible in terms of people's different knowledge and experience in working with change leadership. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not at this point. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If people are looking for someone to help them distill an idea of what they want to happen, Amplitude is good at doing that. When I initially contacted Adrian, I had a general idea about the leadership challenges we were encountering. He used change management and change leadership as a common way for us as a brand new team to work more collaboratively and in a much more integrative way. 

He’s helpful at clarifying things for people who are seeking them out and who may not know exactly what they want or how to articulate it. Adrian can help to connect those dots

Amplitude advises on our employee engagement questions, provides the user interface for collecting feedback from our employees and provides reports and insights into our employee engagement.

We are part of a growing team. We started with an HR Specialist putting the employee engagement initiative together for our HR Business Partners to implement, to having a team working internally to create the employee engagement program and running it nationally.

Communication, timelines and expectations are laid out early in the project each year as to keep everyone on track. We had a short turn around time this year and Amplitude was very flexible in supporting our needs.

I lead the People and Culture Team at Canada Learning Code. I’m the chief people officer and I’m also one of the co-founders of our organization. We’ve been around for 10 years now and we’re a national charity. We provide computer science education to all people in Canada and we focus on absolute beginners and the underserved and underrepresented groups within Canada. We run workshops and camps as well as various educational experiences to teach those technical skills to people in Canada.

Over the past few years, we grew a lot as an organization and we went through quite a bit of transition for various reasons. We also experienced some internal crisis situations. Adrian (Founder & Principal) of Amplitude was hired to support us in navigating some of those crises and transitions together with our executive team. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I started receiving initial support from Amplitude. As our partnership progressed, they provided more formal support and product consultation through some of our transition. Basically, what they provided were crisis management consultation and organizational transition management. 

We brought them in to help us make good decisions and get an expert perspective on challenges, risk mitigation, and how we could approach a strategic transition, but also support specific team members whether they were transitioning internally within the organization, or transitioning out of it. We wanted to provide a humane, empathetic, and supportive transition for all our people. 

Amplitude specifically helped our internal team over the course of 2020 who had experienced mental health changes and other sensitive crises. They also helped us with some team changes such as layoffs and mainly support us in being thoughtful with our team and how we could navigate some of our challenges.

They were also the ones who identified the types of strategies and timelines. Additionally, they facilitated training for the company’s team on how to handle difficult conversations, especially on the exit interviews with those who were leaving the client’s organization. 

I brought an individual to cover my role in my absence, and as far as I know, things had wrapped up. That being said, Adrian was definitely somebody that I would continue to reach out to and engage for support and advice into the future as well. When we face another type of crisis or transition into the future, the Amplitude team would be a partner that I would continue to work with.

Our consultant assisted us with picking and customizing the right questions in line with our strategy and current business conditions. She also assisted with writing all of the communications and documents we needed to introduce and launch the survey. Amplitude hosted the survey and provided us with an executive summary and a dashboard that lets us see our results. They also offer an innovative online platform we use to make sure leaders act on survey feedback - from which we can manage progress online. Slick and simple.
