Once they finished the wireframing, they started the development phase and divided the project into weekly sprints. The app shows a list of activities and events, along with detail screens with descriptions, photos, dates, times, and locations. Users can also view a list of confirmed attendees, migrated from Facebook, and submit an RSVP. The app also sends a notification on the day before an event. Users can log in through Facebook or Google.

I initially spoke with a business development person, who provided a proposal with commercials and a list of features.

The project is complete, and we're organizing the launch event now.  

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I made all the decisions. They were accessible throughout the day, providing updates and sending weekly builds and feature lists. Our workflow was flawless.

I appreciated their management skills. They completed our project before the deadline.

I’m the owner and director of product development for a startup called GoDoTrip. We run a travel mobile app that combines travel recommendations with a social media feed. Users can create travel videos by combining video clips, photos, text, audio, and editing filters to tell their best story and provide bookable/savable recommendations to other potential travelers.

What challenge were you trying to address with Agile Infoways?

We engaged Agile Infoways to develop our app in iOS and Android.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The app allows users to upload photos and videos and edit them with templates, outside audio, and other features. It uses a video maker API made by a third-party company. Users then post and share their media to a feed. The system grabs the media’s location data to determine where the user captured that photo or video. Using that data, the app provides recommendations to other users looking in nearby locations.

Agile Infoways developed that recommendation system—which is the most critical part of the app—along with several other features. They incorporated other APIs such as the video maker, Yelp, and Booking.com APIs. They also made a marketing site that directs users to download the app in order to view and engage with our content.

What is the team composition?

I work with a project manager and two developers on a regular basis. I also interfaced with a business manager early on.

A colleague had a successful partnership with Agile Infoways and recommended them to us. He specifically connected us to the team he worked with; we found the team to have excellent communication skills and the ability to grasp our needs quickly.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app performs well and has seen strong traffic since its launch. We’ve seen a clear return on our investment, and we’re highly satisfied with collaboration with Agile Infoways so far. They communicate well and deliver timely work.

How did Agile Infoways perform from a project management standpoint?

Agile Infoways has deeply ingrained processes to complete their work quickly. Thanks to their substantial experience, they have templates and documentation to handle nearly every potential scenario. They never have to scramble to figure out a solution to a problem. We communicate through a group chat on Skype. Whenever I have a question or an issue that needs a hotfix, they’ll get back to me to me quickly. I work primarily to accommodate their time zone, but they can also adapt to mine as needed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Agile Infoways is highly organized; they stay on top of their tasks and the information they need to complete them. They also respond well to feedback. The level of service they delivered at the project’s beginning has stayed the same.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes requests fall through the cracks, but all it takes is a little reminder, and Agile Infoways will get on it immediately. They’re responsive and accountable, which we greatly appreciate.

Any advice for potential customers?

The team works day to day in their own time zone, so it may be more effective/efficient to take calls in their mornings. I have the flexibility to adapt my work schedule to theirs. They will definitely accommodate time zone differences as needed, but having a person who can work within Agile Infoways’ work schedule may be helpful.

Agile Infoways conducted a requirement analysis and then provided suggestions. Next, the team developed the website with Python and delivered the project’s design components. They provided daily updates for each milestone. Agile Infoways then tested the site and helped us choose a server for hosting. Subsequent digital marketing included a Google Ads campaign as well as on-page and off-page SEO.

The project manager was our primary point of contact. Their team included a frontend developer, a designer, a backend developer, a tester, and a digital marketing expert.

The successful campaign generated 5–7 daily leads, many of which converted into clients. Also, our team approximately doubled in size.

Since both teams were in the same time zone, Agile Infoways was always available for meetings or discussions. The project manager was responsive, providing regular updates or clarifying any confusion.

They understood our needs and accordingly allocated resources to achieve our goals.

I build websites for small to medium-sized companies. I’m a self-employed freelancer and I work a lot with other freelancers who do design, interaction designers, and development.

What challenge were you trying to address with Agile?

I needed a development team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Every project they've worked on for me is very similar. That’s one of the things that makes our collaboration very strong. We create custom WordPress themes for companies that want a unique website. The first step in that process is a web designer that makes a great design. I get the design delivered and together with Agile we create 100% pixel perfect themes. Generally, there is not a lot of functionality of the website itself, and instead, it’s mainly static pages and simple post stacks. The setup is always the same. We always use the same CMS [content management system] of WordPress as well as the same plug-ins and method of collaboration. 

Our main focus is HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The frontend is very important. If there is some functionality, we use PHP because that’s the WordPress language. We try to keep it as minimal as possible and take care of all the functionalities within WordPress using plug-ins or solve it with frontend development, but sometimes you have to build something custom in PHP.

I had a big client and needed help. I work in a co-working space and asked someone if they knew a good company that could help me. They recommended Agile.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Last year, my company doubled because of the collaboration with Agile. Before I worked with them, I did everything myself so I could only do 1 project at a time. Now my role has completely changed. I’m much busier with sales and project management and they’re doing the work and doing it in a terrific way. 

The strongest part of our collaboration is that it’s always the same. Now if there’s a new project, they know what they can expect from me and I know what to expect from them. For every project that we do, the list of feedback and bugs gets shorter and shorter. 

How did Agile perform from a project management standpoint?

Since every project is intense and detailed, there are always points that they could deliver better. Some projects are better than others. In general, I’m very happy with the way they communicate. They’re an Indian company and because of the distance, trust has to develop. There were some occasions where they were so honest to me about mistakes they made, that my trust in them grew based on that. The project communication is good, but more importantly, I have the feeling that they’re very honest about everything, which isn’t something I expected.

We use InVision to communicate on a daily basis. We started with a project manager and some developers. As time goes by and we do more projects, I got to know the names of the developers. At a certain point, it’s easier to discuss with the developers directly. For every single project, I talked to the developer directly. I give them direct feedback and it’s only if there is an issue with estimation of hours or the budget that the project manager comes. The role of the project manager has increasingly become smaller. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their frontend developers deliver pixel perfect HTML and CSS. There aren’t a lot of companies who can do it like that.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I deliver everything to them and they do it. I would like for them to think about my ideas, improve on them in certain points, and then come back to me and give alternate suggestions. They do their work very well, but they’re not proactive. They could also improve in meeting their deadlines.

My main metric for success is a minimum number of bugs within a project. There will always be issues. Average figures are about a 70 to 80 percent success rate, but Agile Infoways can get closer to 90 to 95 percent success. Then if there's still an issue, they will correct it quickly.
