I’m the CEO and founder of Blue Pen Project. I provide executive and leadership coaching to lawyers and other professionals.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Aeon Muse Product Marketing?

I hired Aeon Muse to conduct an overall assessment of my marketing efforts,  including my messaging and the services being offered. The main challenge was that I didn’t feel like there was a good fit between what I was offering and my market. Therefore, I was trying to understand what I needed to change in order to increase sales of my products and enrollment in my coaching services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Aeon Muse did a number of things for me. Firstly, they assessed the market, helping me clarify the customer personas and understand the kind of clients to go after. They also taught me how to speak to them and how to match my offers to each customer persona.

After that process, Aeon Muse helped me develop my messaging. During this stage, we did a messaging exercise to develop my core messaging, as well as the specific messaging to target each of those user personas.

Later, Aeon Muse put together a comprehensive and detailed go-to-market strategy, including a content calendar to follow in order to execute that strategy and use their insights and recommendations. This strategy also included the communication channels and the content I would post, as well as different details for longer-term projects needed to support the content calendar.

On top of that, Aeon Muse made some recommendations for my website. Although they didn’t build it, they laid out the conceptual structure and key elements, and I was in charge of filling in each page, using the content and copy that we generated during the messaging exercise.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’ve applied the strategies that Aeon Muse helped me develop, and I now have a new website that incorporates all of the work that we did together. The new site represented a significant improvement from the website I had before the engagement, which was the first successful result. Additionally, I’ve noticed a 50% increase in requests for introductory calls.

A particular insight that came from Aeon Muse’s research was that there was a segment of the market for which I didn’t have a specific product or offer, so they recommended developing a service that addressed that market segment’s concerns. As a result, I created a hybrid online course/coaching service, which is something that I didn’t have before.

At first, Aeon Muse’s insight in that regard was surprising. However, as we laid the strategy out and started exploring the idea, that approach made a lot of sense. They gave me hugely important insights to grow my business.

How did Aeon Muse Product Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

Aeon Muse met the deadlines and stayed on budget. Additionally, they were very organized, communicative, and responsive. For communication, we used Google Drive to keep track of documents and edit them in real time using Google Docs.

Additionally, we had weekly video calls using Google Meet, and we texted back and forth. Whenever I reached out to them, I would always get a response within 24 hours. The weekly check-in calls were extremely helpful, and they left me with a very clear, step-by-step go-to-market strategy that I’m now following.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m not a marketing person, so I was looking for someone to understand my business, market, and background, as well as to take the lead and provide me with specific guidance. I’ve worked with other marketers in the past who explained best practices but then provided me with a lot of different options, leaving me the responsibility to decide.

What was incredibly valuable and helpful about working with Aeon Muse was that, once they did their research and gathered information, they gave me precise recommendations based on their findings. Their instructions were very clear and specific, which was exactly what I was looking for.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There was nothing Aeon Muse could have improved on; I had an excellent experience with them. Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Do the homework that Aeon Muse sends you. Although their approach might vary from project to project, they first asked me to fill out a questionnaire and asked me to upload all my relevant information before starting the project. I really took the time to go through my own business and records to answer those questions and give them all the information I had that could be useful to them.

Gathering that information wasn’t something that they could have done on their own, and it made their jobs a lot easier, allowing us to move a lot faster. To get the most out of the engagement, ensure to do your work and provide them with what they need to do theirs.
