We encouraged and would have welcomed even more guidance on the design and best practices associated with key elements of our application in situations where "we didn't know what we didn't know."

Introduce your business and what you do there.

My organization is a nonprofit organization focusing on helping candidates interested in graduate management education. We connect them with graduate management education providers, specifically degree programs worldwide. Within the organization, I'm leading a team that conducts research.

We've involved all the major stakeholders, like candidates, schools, and recruiters, in this research process to understand candidate demands for this kind of education. We also aim to understand the volume of applications worldwide and what recruiters expect from business graduates. Our goal is to create an informed and healthy circulation of information so that stakeholders are aware of who is interested and what's out of business education programs.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Achievion Solutions?

Part of my team is also leading the data science work in my organization. We wanted to develop a pilot program to provide recommendations to candidates who were relatively new to the graduate manager education pipeline.

These candidates don't know much about what they want to pursue or haven't done serious prep work to show their capabilities and include them in their school applications. Therefore, we wanted to develop an algorithm to help those candidates navigate the space of business education providers.

We wanted this algorithm to provide candidates with research-based recommendations using a few data points. We hired Achievion Solutions to develop this data science algorithm.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

After agreeing on a greater part of the project scope and figuring out our contract, my data science manager provided Achievion Solutions with all the key data points we had collected. Then, we talked with them and gave them the business scenario for this project.

From there, Achievion Solutions leveraged their expertise in developing data science algorithms to help us find a model for ours and develop the pilot version on Python as per our request. After that, we took the pilot algorithm back and tested it with our data to generate some recommendations. We shared those recommendations with candidates to get their feedback.

Based on the test results, we went back to Achievion Solutions and asked them for additional updates, which they implemented. This algorithm was based on a commonly used algorithm available, so it wasn't a fancy or complex solution. Still, this was the pilot stage of this project. If we have future needs for this project, we plan to follow up with Achievion Solutions and discuss with them to see if we can continue our collaboration.

What is the team composition?

The teammate from Achievion Solutions we worked the most was the project manager, who was based in the US. We also worked with a data scientist from Ukraine. I also communicated with their CEO.

How did you come to work with Achievion Solutions?

A former team member recommended them. I asked my former data science manager to scan the landscape and identify a potential service provider with whom we could work on this project. I don't know where he found Achievion Solutions, but he said that, based on their past work and company size, they would be a good fit for us.

We went ahead and had a conversation with Achievion Solutions. At the time, we had difficulties figuring out what we actually needed, and we also experienced changes in our team, so my data science manager left the company. this happened in 2022. As a result, we had some delays on our project. It wasn't until 2023 when we had some new ideas for Achievion Solutions to work on, so we approached them again, and they were open to those ideas.

Eventually, we figured out a solution for this project, so we came back to them to officially start our relationship. This process showed that they were great partners in being very patient with us along the way, which we really appreciated.

We spent around $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our project officially started in July 2023. The scope evolved and changed over time, and the project finished in February 2024. The project was supposed to finish in December 2023, but my current data science manager and a few other team members were off-location, which delayed the project.

After my teammates came back, we realized that some of the issues we had raised previously hadn't been addressed properly. Thus, we went back with Achievion Solutions, and they worked on addressing those issues, which took a bit of extra time.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Given that this is a pilot project, our internal teams are still discussing how we can use the algorithm for our business scenarios. Currently, I don't have any metrics on how successful our new algorithm is. Once we start using it and put it in operation, we'll start collecting data in that regard.

How did Achievion Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

Achievion Solutions was able to provide a road map for the project. Still, the project manager occasionally forgot about a meeting or to send some follow-up documents afterward. On occasions, we were left wondering whether we would have a meeting or not, and sometimes, the project manager didn't show up. Although having those issues might be common, Achievion Solutions offered average project management; it wasn't stellar. Still, we had a good collaboration with them.

Achievion Solutions' data scientist received tasks from the project manager, figured them out, and delivered the code to the project manager. Then, we had weekly meetings with the project manager to understand how things were going, what challenges had arisen, and how to solve those problems.

In addition to our weekly meetings, I also had two calls with the CEO. After we hit our midway milestone, we had our first call. He wanted to know if I could provide feedback and see if there was a way for our teams to collaborate better. After the project finished, we had a debriefing call to wrap the engagement up and identify areas of improvement so that we could collaborate better next time.

In addition to our virtual meetings, Achievion Solutions asked us to use Slack to communicate, but our company didn't use that tool, so they set up an account for us. My data science manager was the one who used Slack the most and maintained good communication with them. Although I tried Slack a couple of times, email was the best communication channel with them most of the time.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

The fact that the CEO actually reached out to gather feedback was impressive. He took seriously the room for growth for his team, which I really liked. It's clear that the CEO really takes care of his company's reputation by reaching out and asking for feedback about their team's performance in order to improve.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We felt that Achievion Solutions listened well to our needs and was supportive and collaborative during this process.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Quality-wise, my data science manager examined Achievion Solutions' codes and found, as mentioned above, that some of the issues we had raised previously weren't addressed in the version we got by the supposed official end of the project. Thus, we had to go back to them.

That issue meant that Achievion Solutions had some room for improvement in their QA process. They could have evaluated the solution on a more detailed level and caught those issues before we received the final product. Still, I don't know if it was instead an internal miscommunication issue, and the project manager was expecting the data scientist on their end to do that.

When working with data science, they need to pay close attention to the details of the code, which might cause them to lose the big picture. Missing some of the project meetings could have been caused due to the fact that they were busy doing the coding work.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Be patient and open to collaboration opportunities. Achievion Solutions is a great group of people to work with. For these kinds of projects, you want a partner with experience and willingness to listen to you and work on your rhythm. Additionally, give them some room to explore. You're exploring together, so give them some room to explore and make mistakes to the degree you can bear with.

I’m a senior staff attorney at a nonprofit organization. We help veterans get better disability benefits at different stages and also help with discharge upgrades and class action lawsuits, among other items.

What challenge were you trying to address with Achievion Solutions?

We hired them to create an app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Achievion Solutions developed an Android and iOS mobile app and a web app for us. The solution is a thorough logic tree where veterans can input when they served, and the app will ask questions tailored to that period. 

At the end of the process, the app tells veterans what disability benefits they can apply for. From there, the apps point veterans to other service organizations that can help them. The app can also email the results to the user.

Initially, we had an idea of what we wanted and all the questions written up. Both the mobile and web app contain the same questions. Achievion Solutions implemented our ideas and gave us some feedback. They used LimeSurvey to build the apps and set up hosting on AWS. 

After the development, we hired Achievion Solutions again repeatedly to update the apps. When we did updates, I provided all the information, and they handled the tech side. The team helped get the updates approved by app stores.

I worked with Alex (CEO), who acted as an intermediary between us and the rest of the Achievion Solutions team. I know at least one offshore teammate worked on the project. 

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Alex did a wonderful job managing the project and acting as a liaison between us and the rest of the team. Only dealing with one person made the process better. 

How did you come to work with Achievion Solutions?

I found them through a Google search while looking for app development companies.

We spent about $23,000 on the initial development and a total of $43,000 with the updates included. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The initial development project lasted from around January 2017–December 2018. After that, Achievion Solutions handled updates.

The apps have thousands of users and help veterans know which organizations to seek. Achievion Solutions did a great job on the apps. 

How did Achievion Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

They did a fantastic job communicating with me and staying within the budget. The team also improved in meeting deadlines; they started work on any request within 1–2 weeks and turned it around quickly.

I was impressed with how Achievion Solutions could quickly start a project and get it done at a reasonable cost.

What challenge were you trying to address with Achievion Solutions?

We needed a company that could help us build an AI learning tool. We already had a prototype version previously built, so we needed a company that could help us build the MVP.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Achievion Solutions helped us build the MVP version of our machine learning solution. We already finished the first phase of the solution’s development and successfully entered the market, and we’re hoping to work with them again in the future to continue building the solution.

I worked with Alex (CEO) and a project manager from Achievion Solutions.

How did you come to work with Achievion Solutions?

I came across Achievion Solutions through Clutch, so I decided to check out their website. I really connected with their site because I read something in there about “achieving the impossible”, which is exactly what we’re trying to achieve with our company. 

So I put a request in, and Alex got back to me shortly after. After a few months of getting to know each other and my business, we decided to go with them for this project.

We worked together from December 2021-February 2022.

I don’t have any quantitative metrics yet, but I can definitely say that Achievion Solutions went above and beyond for us. They actually did a few minor things outside of the scope to help us further enhance the solution, which was great.

How did Achievion Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

Achievion Solutions performed really well in terms of project management. They listened very well to all of our goals and everything we had to say.

We primarily communicated through email, Zoom, and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I respect and appreciate Achievion Solutions for treating us as they would a bigger company with a bigger budget. They took us very seriously and gave us the professionalism that we deserved, and we always felt like they were genuinely committed to building a partnership with us as we grow.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t believe there’s anything that Achievion Solutions could do better.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to do your homework as well. Don’t just expect them to understand everything you want to achieve with your project or to do everything for you. You have to make sure to explain everything carefully to help them make your product as best as it could possibly be.

I’m a product manager at Televate, a public safety communications consulting company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Achievion Solutions?

We wanted to provide means for our customers to measure their wireless performance. In public safety, it’s vital to have a device or network that’s reliable, so we needed help with custom software development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Since this project was new to Achievion Solutions and us, we decided to go through a pilot. They developed something basic only for Android because we knew that we couldn’t do it on Apple. Their team created a prototype to collect as much intel as possible, and from there, we refined the process where they learned that they could code the other portion of the software.

Since the product has been very useful for the last three years, we’re now attacking the 5G sector, which we’re currently collecting data for. Also, Google is changing how they allow APIs to work, and Achievion Solutions has been outstanding in incrementally giving us what we need to work on that — it’s an every-day-work to improve the product.

I talk to the CEO often. They’ve also assigned a project manager to us, and they work with 2–3 developers.

After researching and looking at their work, we chose them because they had done some similar projects and had good reviews.

We use Jira so that we have a history of all the requirements. I like that they have a project manager specifically dedicated to us. In terms of communication, we have conference calls as needed.

The communication is excellent; they work in an agile and flexible methodology, and the way they work provides us a method to implement what we want to improve our product.

I don’t think there’s anything they can improve on.

Tülbelt is a home services marketplace and social network connecting customers and pros through project proposal, bid, escrow payment, and mutual rating. My position is CEO.

We hired Achievion to build our platform: desktop, mobile, and app.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal was to build the platform from scratch. Not just an MVP, but an MLP (minimum lovable product).

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We selected Achievion after rigorous search for a development partner. The plan they outlined aligned with our goals and values.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They helped us create a spec-doc of all the work to be done, and then configured the desktop version, then the mobile version, and then the app. They worked in an agile way, giving us updates at the end of each sprint. On top of constructing our own system, they also helped us integrate with key vendors to help us achieve the ability to process payments and perform background checks. They also configured the back-end data infrastructure. Achievion built us a powerful platform that serves as both a marketplace and social network.

What was the team composition?

Our team consists of six people: Founder, CEO, CTO, CMO, Customer Service Specialist, and Director of Field Operations.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

With our new platform fully functioning, we have already started to register hundreds of customers and service professionals and jobs are already being processed.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project management was seamless, clear, and effective. The communication was quick and the results evident. We were kept in the loop about any obstacles and timelines, and communicated regularly through standing meetings and our JIRA board.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were most impressed by Achievion's ideas to make our product better. We would come to them with our ideas, and they would refine them.

We had a brainstorming session and came up with a plan that was a two-stage project. He created a software and showed us how it was going to look. In the second stage, he completed the whole web app. Now we can upload all our shipments into that software and web app. Those systems will give us the most efficient and profitable routes.

I’m a co-founder of PhysioLab, an Android and iOS application that supports physical therapy through an automated three-week program. I’m an internal medicine doctor and my partner is a physical therapist.

What challenge were you trying to address with Achievion Solutions?

I am very interested in digital health and I'm always looking for applications in that space. They offered full-stack development of our Android and iOS apps.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our app supports onboarding, including account creation, password management, and a medical disclaimer and tutorials. From that point, the app provides daily physical therapy exercises, and the user can provide feedback on difficulty and pain, which allows the app to adjust automatically. The app also logs daily progress and pain level.

We provided them with a design sketch of how we wanted the UI to look and they helped troubleshoot that and the algorithm throughout development. Our iOS and Android apps have launched and they’re both now in the app store.

We initially spoke with Alex (CEO, Achievion Solutions). He led an offshore team, so I couldn’t speak to their composition. We were included in their Jira channel, so we could provide feedback that way.

How did you come to work with Achievion Solutions?

They came recommended by a colleague. I contacted Alex by email and I was impressed by his organization and responsiveness.

We’ve spent about $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in April 2017 and the engagement concluded in December 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re highly satisfied with the finished app and its appearance. It’s in the app store, but we’re not doing any advertising at this point as we continue to consider our path to monetization. Our gauge of success at this point the contact we’ve made with interested parties.

How did Achievion Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been very responsive throughout the engagement. Alex made suggestions, some of which we implemented. His organization was very helpful, especially since we didn’t have a lot of experience with development and we couldn’t give him as much direction as we would have liked. They also accommodated the changes we made along the way.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The organization and rapid response time were very helpful to us. Alex sent an accounting of the tasks for a particular phase and how long they would take. He contacted us anytime he needed information, and if we had an issue he responded right away.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, we’re very satisfied.

Customers should map out their storyboards, organize their tasks, and have an idea of how much they want to spend. This will help Achievion Solutions plan their end of the project more accurately and account for the costs of various items.

I am the CEO of BIX System Corporation, and we develop secure, distributed ledger and blockchain technologies.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Achievion Solutions?

We needed help with the frontend implementation of some of our blockchain web applications and web application portals.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We have layered web application portals that Achievion Solutions designed using Angular 5. The users access the web application through their choice of browser, there is code that handles data locally at the web server, and beyond that code is a set of modules that support different functions of the applications. These modules then connect with our APIs.

Achievion Solutions was involved in two layers of our web application infrastructure. They designed graphics and the frontend pages that users interface with, as well as connected these pages to our modules, and the modules further down into the backend—more of the portal side of the applications.

What is the team composition?

I spoke with their CEO once per contract, however, it was my internal project manager that had the most contact with Achievion Solutions. I would pass the project requirements to him, he would be in constant communication with the CEO, and the CEO would work with his internal developers.

How did you come to work with Achievion Solutions?

One of my business partners recommended Achievion Solutions as a skilled frontend development company and then introduced me to their CEO. We met, discussed what they do and how they could help our project, and I decided to work with them.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost changed per contract, but all together we’ve spent $20,000–$25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in February 2018, and our last project together lasted from July 2018–August 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They were successful and effective, delivered exactly what we expected, and had high-quality deliverables in terms of IT strategies.

How did Achievion Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

We established a shared server to post tickets for any issues or problems, and they always reacted promptly, efficiently, and effectively.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have interesting and attractive graphic designs, but above that, their entire team is very talented. If I’m working on a project with a different vendor, and a question comes up or part of the project is especially difficult, I’ll reach out to them. They have very effective expertise.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing I can think of that they can do to improve their business or the quality of their results. They were engaged in the project, prompt, professional, and delivered everything we asked for and expected.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I always suggest that people are precise in their requirements and willing to have a back and forth with their project manager to make sure that everyone has the same level of understanding. Achievion Solutions has a form available to fill out for their customers to describe the project, but I found it most helpful to create and share a PowerPoint presentation. It was a little more descriptive and allowed me to share pictures of what I was looking for.
