Worked on implementing the client UI and BE DB and APIs for iOS and Android for social media app platform, including video, photo, text content in feeds, event management and promotion, subscriptions, tools for content and user moderation, messaging, ads.  Also includes customization options at both the app, group, and user levels, plus branding with logos and color scheme.

In conjunction with the mobile app, we created a web app for people to select customization options and sign up for an app, including assets for branding and store releases.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The engineers that we hired through Ideaware were all productive, communicated well, and were an excellent cultural fit for our organization.  We had other engineers as well, so it was a blended team, with management in the U.S.  They had identifiable skills that were applicable to our needs, were able to communicate well, and were/ are responsible for our ability to continually release product with new functionality, fix bugs, and address performance issues.  All the engineers we hired were quick to learn new technologies/APIs as needed, allowing us to continue growing the product.

The team is managed by the COO who leads the daily standup, assigns tasks, reviews the work, and manages the bug tracking system. For the most part, items were delivered on time. When tasks were confusing, they were able to communicate clearly so they understood the objectives and were able to adjust as needed.  Overall, very pleased with all the engineers we have hired through Ideaware.

The team included product manager, UX/UI designer, backend and frontend engineers, automated testers and QA.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were able to expand our team constantly and deliver more with every monthly release. Our product is now deployed and in production used by hundreds of companies.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It is a complex process and is different from company to company. There is no silver bullet there and unless there are established metrics and indicators, there is no way to understand and improve the processes and people continuously. We had a testing relationship that helped to have effective communication and planning in place. The key was to find ways to improve things non-stop all the time. The result has been good and improving.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Transparency, easy to work with, positive and can-do attitude. On top of that, the DNA of the company fosters a great love for creating great products through better UX/UI design and engineering.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Execution and planning can always be improved. It is always a challenge to create the right balance between quality, agility, and cost. I think Ideaware has the right balance for most companies but they need to develop some better ways to adjust these levers depending on the client they work with. In some cases, the client might be sensitive or less sensitive to cost but more or less demanding agility or quality.
