Our initial milestone was a fully tested, ready for beta version of our product. QTWinSoft worked iteratively, and collaboratively toward this objective. They delivered on time and exceeded our expectations. They have become trusted, embedded members of our team.

Project management was a joint effort. Two of our co-founders led much of the project management, with QTWinSoft developers acting as embedded members of our team. They delivered on time, were responsive to feedback, and were collaborative in exploring ways to reach our goals. We ran a kanban board and held daily stand ups for the first phase of the project. Communication and coordination went very smoothly despite the time zone differences.

QTWinSoft is transparent and collaborative. They deliver. The team they formed for us not only worked well with each other and with our team, but they sought expertise from other QTWinSoft developers when needed (which was rare).

No, we quickly learned to work together and they became an integral part of our team. When we've identified areas for process improvement, we've worked togther to improve our collective ability to develop a high quality product.

• Integrate with the Linux OS for logging, configuration files, and watchdog.
• Write a user manual for the user interface software.

QtWinSoft was very organized, responsive, and delivered on time. They used collaborative tools like Figma and GitLab where all work was visible throughout the project. Weekly meetings helped to keep expectations aligned and aided collaboration. All tasks and issues were tracked in Gitlab so nothing fell between the cracks.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was impressed at how professional and high quality their work was. The UI exceeded our original vision and significantly added to the professionalism of our product. I was also impressed by how easy it was to communicate updates and issues. We could send one email descirbing several updates and within a few days, those updates would be correctly implemented. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something QtWinSoft could have done differently?

There was a large gap between the original budgetary discussions and the final amount. Software can be dificult to predict development costs and we did add some to the scope, but the original estimate was less than half of the final cost. Having said that, we are very happy with the end product and the end amount we spent to get that product. I would recommend adding more head room to your quotes in the future.

I’m the president of a software development company that focuses on large financial institutions.

We have a new software product that we’re rolling out into our vertical, which is insurance.

What was the scope of their involvement?

QtWinSoft helps design the UI and frontend of this product that’s in development. We don’t follow a formulaic Agile process. While we give them specific requirements to follow based on our architecture designs, their team also manages design work on their own. They work based on formal and informal specifications using languages such as C++ and QML.

What is the team composition?

They’re individual resources report to me, which is the way that we wanted it because we’re highly technical and can manage our own people.

How did you come to work with QtWinSoft?

I googled QML for Windows and found QtWinSoft’s website. Their team has expertise in some of the technologies that we wanted to use such as C++ and QML for the UI and frontend. We put them on a pilot project with several other firms and selected two to continue. QtWinSoft was one of the two.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $55,000 last year. In 2017, we didn’t spend as much because we went through the vetting process.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with QtWinSoft in February 2017 and we plan to continue working with them. Since it’s a big undertaking, it’ll be another 18 months until we roll out the product.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

QtWinSoft’s a skilled, low-cost resource that helps us develop the software. Their team’s good at initial, in-depth design analysis. I’ve been impressed with the solutions they’ve come up with to account for problems that we encountered during the design of the product. With their tools, their team has good, fundamental technical skills. Their team builds complete products that work and meet our satisfaction. We’re happy with their work.

How did QtWinSoft perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Skype and Adobe Connect for voice calls to go over progress, questions, and concerns. Occasionally, we have planning meetings but not as much as of late because they understand the project. It’s easy to work with them because they communicate effectively and are able to do what they’re asked to do. They’re also attentive and take direction well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re affable, which means a lot. Their team’s eager to please and take direction. They give projects their best effort. I respect the knowledge that they’ve imparted to our organization over the course of a few years. I also trust them, which is the biggest quality with any offshore work. You want to make sure that whatever proprietary product you develop stays proprietary. We haven’t had a problem with trustworthiness. They’re not bringing people in and out; we’ve worked with the same team members over the last several years.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could work a little quicker, but I’ll take right over quick. We’ll work seven days a week and their team doesn’t, which is okay. We don’t ask them to go beyond their normal 40-hour workweek. QtWinSoft’s small, so they experience growing pains. I can’t call them up and ask for five resources tomorrow. That blocks their development but it’s not their fault.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Utilize their skills. QtWinSoft will achieve the best work for those interested in developing products using C++ and QML. They’ll also do well for firms that don’t care about the languages used to develop their products’.

We create consumer encryption software that is made to keep an individual users' data secure and private. As a Tech Lead I do the overall project management for a multitude of projects our company has been working on. I'm in charge of task management, planning, communication with stakeholders, but also make technical decisions.

We work closely together with developers. While we have a couple core contacts, the team size fluctuates depending on the task at hand or the project and its size.

How did you come to work with QtWinSoft?

Since the partnership pre-dated my on-boarding at the company, I’m not sure how we exactly got started. However, I’m sure their experience with the Qt framework was a decisive factor in choosing to work with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in late 2014, and we hope to continue our engagement and cooperation on continuing and future projects.

We have been successful in reaching the 12 million+ client base together as a team. 

How did QtWinSoft perform from a project management standpoint?

They go the extra mile to be helpful. Recently, when we were facing a tight deadline, they worked on the project with us through a national holiday just to ensure that we could deliver on time. We used Trello for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

QtWinSoft has provided very skilled coders at a cost-effective rate, so they’ve been a great solution. We’ve always appreciated that they’re eager to provide additional resources when we need to scale up with a project. They have experienced developers in a multitude of areas, ranging from big and complex consumer software to entire backend systems.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can't think of anything. We enjoy working together with them and we are a good team. QtWinsoft has been a great partner. We can attribute the continuation of our partnership to their high performance.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Since working with a remote team can be challenging at times, make agreements in advance about project management and how you’ll work together on a day to day basis. Also, you should find a good way of communicating that helps you make your project goals clear while keeping a clear overview of the planning.
