Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the Head of Engineering at a company that provides market intelligence, data, and networking platforms to help investment professionals make informed decisions and build strategic connections across global financial markets.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with The Scalers?
We needed support to build a team to develop a game-changing reimagining of our product offering. Previously, we had worked solely with consultancies, agencies, and outsourcing arrangements, so we wanted to build our own team, tightly integrated with the business, to do a fantastic job with our technology going forward.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
The Scalers has handled everything locally in India to bootstrap and manage the team. The team has built up to five product engineering scrum teams, delivered three brand-new products, and is working on re-platforming all of our other products next. We've also recruited data engineering, data science, and CRM development teams.
What is the team composition?
We've worked with around 10 teammates from The Scalers, covering customer success, HR - people and culture, recruitment and interviewers, IT and support.
How did you come to work with The Scalers?
I originally found The Scalers online around 2018 while looking for partners to build a software development operation in India with. This is the second time I have chosen to build and grow a team through The Scalers. We chose them because they were dynamic and energetic. They provided all the functions needed to bootstrap the team while we focused on hiring the right team and our core work. The engagement was low risk because we could start small and scale at our own pace, which started slow but quickly became a very rapid and large-scale team.
What is the status of this engagement?
PEI started working with The Scalers around January 2024, and the engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We've delivered two new products in 2024 and a further product in 2025. The ongoing product roadmaps are delivered on time and to a good standard. The Scalers has also recruited as agreed and planned. The engineering teams are happy and healthy, with good retention; we've had a small percentage of voluntary leavers.
How did The Scalers perform from a project management standpoint?
The Scalers has delivered on time and as agreed. We communicate via email, Slack, Zoom, and Google Meet, as well as numerous in-person interactions in both London and Bangalore.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The Scalers is always there when we need them, even if it's late at night in India. They go out of their way to support us. The team is responsive and jumps on any ideas we have for the team. They also do a lot proactively without needing to be asked, like creating a happy team by organizing lunches, treats, snacks, and gifts, some from their own side and some they ask for funding.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Nothing comes to mind; we've been very happy with them.
