BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP of product at a healthcare technology company. We’re predominantly a B2B healthcare IT company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with 3XM Group?

Since we’re moving into the B2B space, we needed a team that could help us create prototypes for our new services that we’re offering. We were looking for a company that could develop our APIs as part of the government mandate.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we only asked them to build the APIs and an interface called the Swagger document. They then initiated to begin testing the APIs themselves by putting synthetic data through a FHIR server. 

Our team is working on the internal part of the platform and 3XM Group leads the efforts on the external-facing component of our APIs. The team creates the external service for our sales demo to be able to show our APIs working with test data. They use AWS and FHIR — these are standard in the healthcare industry — for the project. They support our R&D for our enterprise architecture team. Apart from those tasks, the team is migrating the APIs built outside of the healthcare walls to host them on our API.

What is the team composition?

We work with seven people — a project manager, a client project manager, and a team of architects and frontend and backend developers.  

How did you come to work with 3XM Group?

3XM Group was recommended to us by a colleague who has also worked with them in the past. What got us interested is that they were fast, nimble, and could think well beyond what you asked them to do. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them for six months; the ongoing engagement started in May 2020. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The team goes over and beyond what they’re asked to do. 3XM Group helps us close sales and accelerate that process through the sales demo. They speed up the process three times faster than how our teams can do it. The team is nimble — in just weeks, we actually have something to show our external customers.

How did 3XM Group perform from a project management standpoint?

Since we push them quite hard to meet deadlines, they’re able to stack up their teams to deliver the tasks. We started working with a smaller team of 3–4 people, the scope then was 5–7 APIs and they were able to top that. Then, we told them we needed another 47 APIs on top of that, and they were able to staff to do that.

What did you find most impressive about them?

3XM Group has the ability to be a key partner and they listen to what we need. They’re always able to propose better solutions and because of that, one of our enterprise architects even asked if he could leverage their resources to help him do enterprise architecture work. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

The one thing that we struggle with is more of a healthcare problem — we struggle to get people outside the healthcare wall integrated with our system. That’s a general problem we face with any third party vendors, not just with 3XM Group.
