3DPrinterOS helped us bring the printers used by our IoT and product teams into one cloud-based workspace. The setup included connecting five printers, configuring user access, and creating a shared workflow for uploading, preparing, queuing, and monitoring print jobs. Their team helped us set up cloud slicing and printer queues, so our engineers could submit jobs without having to work directly from the computer connected to each machine.
We also introduced remote monitoring and notifications, which made it possible to follow longer prints without someone being physically present the entire time. If a print started failing, the team could check it remotely and stop the job before wasting more time and material.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The clearest result is that all five printers can now be managed through one dashboard. Our engineers no longer need to move between separate tools or stay next to a printer throughout a longer job just to make sure it is still running correctly.
We now have one place to check printer status, active jobs, and queues. The remote monitoring feature has also allowed us to catch failed prints earlier and stop them before more material and machine time are lost. Overall, the process requires much less manual oversight than it did before.

Are there any areas for improvement or something 3DPrinterOS could have done differently?

The initial dashboard takes a little time to get used to because there are quite a few settings and tools available. A shorter onboarding flow tailored specifically to smaller printer setups would probably help new users find the features they need faster.

We implemented 3DPrinterOS to manage four printers used for product prototyping. Our team prints early versions of device housings, mouthpieces, pod-related components, internal mounts, and other small parts that we need to check for size, fit, and usability before moving forward with production tooling. 3DPrinterOS connected the printers in one cloud-based environment and gave our product team a shared process for uploading models, slicing files, assigning jobs, and tracking print progress. They also helped us configure user access and organize the workflow so that designers could submit new iterations without working directly from the computer connected to each printer. Remote monitoring was another important part of the setup. Some of our prototypes take several hours to print, so being able to check them from another location and stop a failed job has been genuinely useful.

All our printers are now managed through one dashboard, and the team no longer has to switch between separate tools to prepare and follow print jobs. We can also run several prototype iterations in parallel and see immediately which version is printing, waiting, or already completed. The biggest improvement has been the amount of hands-on monitoring required. Previously, someone had to check longer jobs in person throughout the day. Now we can follow the print remotely and stop it early if a part detaches or the print begins to fail. This has reduced wasted printer time and material, and it has made our prototyping cycle noticeably faster.

For a small product team working through frequent design changes, that saves more time than we initially expected.

Are there any areas for improvement or something 3DPrinterOS could have done differently? 

Nothing important that could be mentioned. I’d recommend 3DPrinterOS to product teams that need to move through physical prototypes faster and manage several printers without constant manual supervision.

3DPrinterOS helped us centralize the printers our technical team uses for small enclosures, mounting components, test fixtures, cable-management parts, and other internal prototypes. Before this, jobs were prepared and monitored through different tools depending on the printer, which worked at a very small scale but became inconvenient as usage increased. The team connected our printers to the platform, configured user roles and permissions, and helped us establish one workflow for uploading files, slicing models, assigning jobs, and managing the queue. We also implemented remote monitoring, notifications, and job tracking, so the person responsible for a print no longer had to remain close to the machine throughout the process.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The biggest change has been in how consistently we use the printers. Before 3DPrinterOS, two or three machines could be busy while another one sat unused simply because nobody had a clear view of the queue. Now jobs are assigned based on availability, so all five printers are used more evenly. We also started preparing longer jobs for overnight printing. The team can queue everything before leaving and come back to finished parts the next morning. As a result, most of our internal components are now ready within one business day instead of taking two or three days. Another practical improvement is repeatability. Once we have settings that work for a particular type of enclosure or fixture, we can reuse them instead of preparing the job again from scratch. This has shortened file preparation and made the quality of repeat prints more consistent.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

For me, it’s how little attention the system needs once everything is configured. I can see whether a print is still running, how much time is left, and whether there is a problem without standing beside the printer or asking someone else to check it. It’s a fairly simple improvement, but it removed a surprising amount of unnecessary back-and-forth from our day.

Are there any areas for improvement or something 3DPrinterOS could have done differently?

Some of the reporting screens could be easier to customize. We only need a few key metrics for our relatively small setup, so being able to create a simpler default view would save some time. It’s a minor issue, though, and it hasn’t affected the reliability of the platform.
