I am the CFO of an independent school specializing in 2-year-olds through to grade-5.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with 3 Media Web Solutions?
The challenge was twofold. We needed to build a website that would serve as the front piece of our school and to build a communication portal for our families. We had an old website built on a different platform than WordPress, but it was horrid.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
3 Media Web was in charge of the design, build, and implementation of the WordPress website. After they came up with a design which we felt worked with who our company was, we went through a development phase, including integrating plugins and taking care of testing. 3 Media Web deployed the site, provided training for us, and continued to handle hosting and support. We had a previous website in place, but there was really nothing there for them to base the work on.
The new site was built from scratch. The site has a marketing frontend with the standard pieces one would expect to find about our company, what we do, and what our value propositions are. There are also numerous pictures. We needed to connect the user list from our internal system over to the website. The backend part allows users to log in and have access to email, a calendar, blogs, the ability to post pictures hosted on Flickr, and connect to YouTube.
Users can also purchase items through our site, namely clothing, access to events, and so on. 3 Media Web implemented some SEO and digital analysis through Google Analytics, as well as marketing basics which they handle for us currently.
How did you come to work with 3 Media Web Solutions?
They came as a recommendation to us. 3 Media Web had worked in biotech, which implies HIPAA compliance. Since we also have a group of highly-protected users, we needed to make sure that the developer understood these sorts of things.

We started working with 3 Media Web Solutions in February 2016. The site was deployed in October of that year. 3 Media Web started the marketing work in March or April of 2017. They continue to provide us support and web hosting through an annual contract.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
The uptick in traffic has been unbelievable, but I have no exact statistics. The website has been loved by everyone and has won an award. We were looking to partner with another group in California, and it was our website that made them consider us as a candidate.
How did 3 Media Web Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?
The launch was delayed because of our fault, not 3 Media Web’s. We’re a school, and simply don’t have the resources for this type of project. They handled design and development excellently. We had weekly meetings, and, whenever I needed to get a hold of their founder, he was available.
What did you find most impressive about 3 Media Web Solutions?
They’re a small company and have responded to us accordingly. They are agile and able, but also have depth and experience. 3 Media Web has brought the design, development, and marketing pieces together as one package. Our site had a third of the cost of other school websites.

No. They really are that good.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
Wayside Athletic Club is a full-service fitness facility in the MetroWest area. It offers tennis, racquetball, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center, youth programs, camps, swim lessons, tennis lessons, etc. I’m the marketing director.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with 3 Media Web?
We had a very outdated website. Once I joined the team, we underwent a complete rebranding, renaming, new logo, new color palette, new everything. We needed a website to bring it to the current date. We needed it to be responsive, easy for our members and prospects, have the relevant information presented clearly and concisely, and easily accessible.
We also needed a couple specific features. One we call the Amber Alert. If there’s ever a closure or class cancellation or late opening, we flash a red bar across, so we can put out an announcement to our members. We have three spots on the home page where we can put different news updates or anything about registration or dates for different programs. We have so much going on, so it’s just an easy way to put out different messages. Also, we wanted the class schedule to be very easily noticed, so that people didn’t have to do a lot of searching to see what the time of today’s group exercise classes are or when the session starts. We wanted to be able to update the website on our own, so having an easy-to-use CMS was imperative for us.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
We wanted a company that could do it all, from helping us figure out what it is we wanted and the different features that were available. 3 Media Web helped us with the design, copywriting, and making sure it was SEO appropriate.
They did the design from scratch. I provided them with our brand colors and palette and logo, and they helped us to stay within the simplicity that we were going for. They did the wireframes and helped us to organize the content we wished to include.
Our old website was nothing compared to what it is today. There was just so much content, yet 3 Media managed to keep all the familiar information and basic navigation there. A lot of that didn’t necessarily change, but it’s the amount of content and how we displayed it that really changed which made a world of difference. The site is built on WordPress. We didn’t want to use stock photos, so they helped us with the photography as well.
How did you come to work with 3 Media Web?
All the work I’ve done in the past has not been in Massachusetts, so I didn’t have too many contacts here. Our budget wasn’t huge for the project, so I just was doing a lot of research on my own, making some phone calls and talking to a bunch of different agencies. There was an agency I talked to that said our project was too small for them, but they recommended 3 Media. They put me in touch with Marc, and we instantly connected. I narrowed it down to three, and they were by far the best.
How much have you invested with 3 Media Web?
We’ve spent around $20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project took longer than originally planned. We wanted it to go live at the end of August, but it didn’t go live until October.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
We’ve definitely had positive feedback from our members and others, but I don’t have any data.
They’re really, really helpful in educating us and helping us understand how to keep things simple. They were great at keeping us within scope, within budget, helping us with the different designs. Everything was very smooth throughout the entire process.
How did 3 Media Web perform from a project management standpoint?
They were great. Whenever I had a question, they could answer it right away. I was in touch with the graphic designer. They just kept everything very organized, and each week we had checkpoint calls with the full team which helped us stay on track. It was just very easy, and everything was very streamlined, and it was perfect.
What did you find most impressive about 3 Media Web?
Their price for their product is very reasonable. I’ve worked with lots of larger firms, and I think that it’s much more personalized. I loved that we dealt with the president and founder, as opposed to just getting shooed off. I feel like Marc is always available, which is really great when you spend a lot of money, whether it’s $5,000 or a million dollars. You want that personalized attention and respect. I think that is really unique, that Marc is involved every step of the way, and Lysa, as well. That just really says a lot about them, that they care about all of their clients, big or small, and that he always knew what was going on. You just felt really taken care of.
Are there any areas 3 Media Web could improve?
I think the biggest negative was the delay in going live. It was just not ready to go live when it was supposedly going to. . The project had a lot of moving parts and things just got held up, causing delays. We did not want to go live until it was 100% ready, so that once it finally did, it was a big WOW, which it was!
