Our company is a software development agency based in London. We build custom software for a range of different clients across different industries. We founded it in 2017, and we're growing in size. There are seven of us now.

What challenge were you trying to address with 100 Pound Social?

As a young company, everyone was particularly very busy doing lots of different things. One of the skills we didn't have in-house was the ability to build a social media presence for our company. It was something that didn’t come naturally to our team members. We needed a partner to help us with social media advertising. We also had to create a dialog with people who were useful to have in our network.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The 100 Pound Social team helped us build our social media presence. They mainly ran our company's Twitter and Facebook pages, but they also had the option to run our LinkedIn and Instagram. They created unique posts, which we didn't pay to be promoted. 

When we first started working with them, we had to fill out a comprehensive “explain-your-business” form, so that they could produce unique and interesting content relevant to our business. They’d update the content at regular intervals, and I’d often check in to see whether the content they produced was relevant.

We hired them four years ago through a web search.

We invested around $10,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from July 2017–April 2020. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

During the time we worked with 100 Pound Social, some of our posts were retweeted and favorited quite a lot. We also gained more followers and likes, so we were pleased. In terms of numbers, we gained 150 Twitter followers during the course of the engagement. We also had potential clients interacting with the content on our social media account. 

The numbers were hardly a blockbuster, but they did put our company on the map. If a potential client doing due diligence could see we had more than 100 followers on different social media channels, it would give us credibility. 

How did 100 Pound Social perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed very well. The initial relationship, contract, and payment schedule ran very smoothly. The production of content ran very swimmingly. Victoria and Louise were also very helpful and responsive. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

There was very little on our side to do. I didn’t have to do anything apart from the initial input on the type of content we needed and what our business was like.

Are there any areas they could improve?

100 Pound Social lends itself more to consumer products that anyone and everyone can understand. For example, I can run social media ads for a company that produces a drink, because everyone can understand what a drink is even if it's a new concept or market player. 

What we have from our company, however, is custom software development. If you grab a random consumer off the street and show it to them, they won't know what it is. We need to produce B2B content, and that's more challenging to produce. That's one of the challenges that 100 Pound Social faces when they're trying to have more B2B customers like us. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Any company trying to get itself off the ground doesn’t have to worry about the time it takes to build a social media following to gain credibility. Working with 100 Pound Social is the most effective and cheapest way for companies to achieve that without having to spend any time doing the tasks themselves.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

After initial briefings with the team a profile was built of what topics I was interested in sharing knowledge about and who I was interested in connecting with.

After that the team researched and produced content for me to share on LinkedIn. This was reviewed and approved on a monthly basis.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They maintained for me an active profile on LinkedIn that otherwise I would not have had the time to research and contribute to as often without. This lead to increased engagement and activity in my LinkedIn profile.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very good, the tooling improved over the engagement and became almost fully automated and painless.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The consistent delivery of the service without a hitch and almost entire self-reliance is impressive. They need only minimal input from myself to conduct the work to a high quality.
