I am the CTO for a company named Guaranty Home Mortgage Group, we handle residential mortgages in retail and wholesale channels.

What challenge were you trying to address with Trinetix?

We hired Trinetix to complete a robotic process automation (RPA) where they would take a website we use internally and facilitate processes. We were hoping to have an AWS installation that we could put into our environment to crawl the website and pull down images that needed to be abstracted every 10 minutes. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our requirements were to build a deliverable that would run in AWS and be an automated system that we wouldn’t have to touch. We broke the project down into 2–3 different phases: the first was basic connectivity, and the other was logging into the website and downloading items and a handoff at the end. 

Trinetix provided examples of how they planned on completing the project, and we collaborated on some basic code once they had the login completed. We knew which loans needed to be downloaded from a database and turned those into a task; Trinetix went through the website two tasks at a time. Each part of the task was tracked, and the team broke the process down into about 15 steps for the RPA process. 

If anything failed, Trinetix knew where that happened. No servers were involved, and Trinetix gave us the code at the end to set everything up.

We interacted directly with a salesperson, CTO, and lead developer. We think there might have been 3–4 other developers who worked behind the scenes.

We knew about their company from a previous organization. We don’t normally outsource our work, but after we talked and met with the Trinetix team, we decided to move forward.

We spent about $30,000

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together between February–May 2021. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The work was completed two years ago, and we used it without issue for two years. We’ve rewritten a few things more recently because of a system change, but we didn’t have to complete any maintenance on Trinetix’s work for a long time. We considered the project a success. 

We’ve been able to use this to download images for customers we couldn’t before. With Trinetix’s robot, we can enable an API that we can download on the fly. The code auto-deploys, and everything was thoroughly documented. 

How did Trinetix perform from a project management standpoint?

They were successful from a project management standpoint. Generally speaking, we were satisfied. We used Jira and met about once a week over Zoom, and they would give us updates. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team was extremely talented and had a deep knowledge surrounding AWS and cloud enablement. Trinetix was relatively inexpensive, and had a big team that provided high-quality code. We’ve had other projects where the vendors have not done good work, and the development took twice as long. 

We were particularly impressed with the team’s output and how detail-oriented they were in their documentation. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing we can come up with at this point.

• Refactor existing code to target newer.NET Core and React versions

• Integrate Agile development process with bi-weekly sprint cadence

Their project management was based on a Agile process consisting of bi-weekly sprints and frequent stand ups. They were able consistently deliver on time due to their process. Since they were deeply integrated with our team, they were able to understand our needs accurately and translate them into features and the efficient/timely delivery of those features.

A project manager was responsible for keeping things on track. We held regular meetings to discuss project status, answer questions, and demo features as they were developed. Trinetix was very good at keeping track of our requests, concerns, and questions and took care of issues promptly. During the course of this project, they were very willing to accommodate us in adopting a workflow that best fit our needs. The project roadmap was always clear, even as requirements changed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The most compelling reason why we loved working with Trinetix, outside of the quality work, was the individual team members. Everyone we interacted with at Trinetix was not only professional and qualified but also a pleasure to work with. It's rare to find such a motivated and enthusiastic team, and it made dealing with the complex issues we faced much easier.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Trinetix could have done differently?

There is always room for improvement, and I'm sure some communication could have been better, but overall, Trinetix was a excellent partner to work with.
