BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the marketing manager of a manufacturing company. We produce sub-components for devices intended for use in several fields. Many of our clients come from the medical, automotive, and aerospace industries.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with ZURB?

Our products are highly configurable to very specific applications, which makes our business hard to properly represent online. In line with this difficulty, we had released a complex engineering product line. We wanted to make configuring and ordering the products in this line as easy as possible.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve done two projects with them: a product configurator design project and a web design wireframe project. When we started on each project, we brought them our challenge. Based on this challenge, they assembled a user group that they would interview to determine the ideal parameters for the solutions. They would bring initial designs back to the user group and then use their feedback to shape the next set of actions in building the solution. We repeated this process for a couple of weeks, with new findings influencing how we moved forward with each step of the project. In the end, we received deliverables that were already refined and tested by end-users.

What is the team composition?

Each project has had three people assigned: one data-focused team member, one design-focused team member, and one project manager.

How did you come to work with ZURB?

I had prior knowledge of their framework-making abilities. After reaching out for an initial conversation, I was confident we’d be able to work well together.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $110,000 in total on both projects.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January–March 2018.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In making upgrades to our website overall, we wanted to attract a greater number of high-quality leads through digital channels. Their work has helped us better reach our target audience, which has also increased the quality of firms requesting quotes from us on the site. To this end, the projects were successful.

How did ZURB perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re project management role models for me. We communicated via email, and they had their own project management tool that we used. This tool included design boards, Google Docs, and a commenting system.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re world-class designers. Their team is made up of out-of-the-box thinkers, which allows them to outpace their competitors. The entirety of their work is very data-driven.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. I learned far more from them than they learned from me.
