Replatforming Of Self-Service Customer Portal (Salesforce And Liferay)

The Challenge
Senior management at XYPRO realized that the old PHP based portal is not meeting the expectations of a large customer base that they have for its enterprise security software. They were looking for a robust self-service customer portal to support their customers where customers could go and download software documentations, softwares, and resolve issues. Customers had to login twice before

they could create a support ticket or search the knowledge base.

The Solution
After a comprehensive user research and understanding of their needs, we proposed to re-platform their self-service customer portal. We redesigned their portal using Liferay. Customers now could go to the portal and download the softwares, documentations and other materials without having to contact customer support.

For a connected customer experience, we achieved integration between Liferay and Salesforce. XYPRO customer portal has exceeded company’s expectations in terms of usage and customers’ reaction. Users can now create the support tickets directly from Liferay without having the need for them to go to Salesforce.

Since we established single-sign-on (SSO) between Liferay and Salesforce, the customer portal has exceeded company’s expectations in terms of user experience and customers’ reaction. We understand that reliability is a key when it comes to self-service customer portals, we developed a highly available AWS cloud infrastructure to host Liferay portal to make sure we have 99.9% uptime.

SHEEX Enhances The Mobile Customer Experience With New Progressive Web App (PWA)

The Challenge
With consumer expectations around the mobile shopping experience at an all-time high, senior management at SHEEX realized that the responsive website has various limitations and they need to redesign their website and offer better user experience to its customers (approx. 70%) who are shopping on their website from their phone.

The Solution
Initially, we

were exploring a native mobile app, but we realized that customers will have no incentive to download the app to make a purchase, at the same time we wanted to deliver an app-like user experience that was reliable, fast and engaging. Then, we proposed a mobile-first approach using Progressive Web App (PWA) and focus on design, speed and intuitive user experience to drive mobile conversion. We developed a PWA that provided better UX/UI and checkout experience that improved the conversion and customer satisfaction.

The biggest challenge for us was to complete the UX research, auditing, design, develop, test and launch the PWA a week before the Black Friday. Because of our experience and the agile development methodology that we follow for such projects, we were able to launch the PWA on time and within the budget.

I’m the CEO of Conscious Step, a fair-trade, organic, non-toxic sock company. A portion of our sales goes to charity.

What challenge were you trying to address with Ziggle Tech?

My company hired Ziggle Tech to help us scale our e-commerce business. We wanted to ensure that our direct consumers and wholesale customers had an efficient, positive experience shopping with us. We also needed to develop an SEO strategy.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Ziggle Tech began by developing our existing Shopify site’s backend and setting up a new internal system called TradeGecko. They leveraged different Shopify apps and add-ons to tailor the website to our customers’ shopping needs. The team also improved our site design for mobile and desktop, and they ensured that our invoicing was correct.  

Now, Ziggle Tech is helping us with our SEO and social media strategies. My team provides content, and Ziggle Tech offers insights on what audiences we should pursue, where to place the content, and what is and isn’t working. They’re helping us leverage keyword-based SEO and social media to drive traffic to our site.

What is the team composition?

I work closely with Rocky (Co-Founder and Chief Business Development Officer, Ziggle Tech) on more high-level tasks. Two team members from my company work with Ziggle Tech’s team.

How did you come to work with Ziggle Tech?

An acquaintance recommended Ziggle Tech, and my wife knew Rocky. I told Rocky that we wanted to ramp up our e-commerce services, and he said that his company had a solution that could help us.

How much have you invested with them?

Project costs are around $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with Ziggle Tech in December 2018, and the collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t have many results yet because we just began SEO. However, we didn’t have an SEO strategy before working with Ziggle Tech, so they’ve been critical in helping us launch one.

How did Ziggle Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

Ziggle Tech works very collaboratively with my team, and they’re receptive to feedback. We experienced a few issues in the beginning, but Ziggle Tech is solutions-oriented. They provide strategic advice and feedback on our current assets. We communicate via email and weekly calls. We also use a project management platform, where my team posts lists of updates and fixes that we need Ziggle Tech to do. The platform prioritizes tasks and keeps both teams updated.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Ziggle Tech adjusts their style and approach to their client’s needs. They are always trying to improve, which has been one of the biggest contributors to our successful, ongoing relationship. Our partnership is constantly evolving.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be helpful if they could build more elaborate proposals to show what they’re going to do, as this would hold them accountable to the scope of the project.

Any advice for potential customers?

Be clear about what you need Ziggle Tech to do. Also, determine who will be held accountable for what; it took us some time to figure out who was working on SEO versus backend development. You should know who will be delivering what and in what timeframe.

I'm the director of operations and information systems at SHEEX, Inc., a textile manufacturing and distribution company. We sell bed sheets, comforters, pillows, and sleepwear through an e-commerce website.

We reached out to Ziggle Tech to help us reduce costs by streamlining a lot of our processes and working on some of our day-to-day technology challenges. Our e-commerce site was previously managed by another vendor, but it had a lot of problems, so we needed help stabilizing and migrating it to a different platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Ziggle Tech took over the development of our e-commerce platform, creating a detailed scope of work for how to stabilize it. They provide project management, development, and strategic day-to-day technological assistance. After transferring the site to a new platform and redesigning some of the frontend and backend, they continue to monitor and update it as needed. 

What is the team composition? 

We work with a total of three people on their team, but just two on a day-to-day basis.

How did you come to work with Ziggle Tech?

Our e-commerce manager recommended them, so we invited them in for an interview and liked their presentation. They also had great references. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working with them since March 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Ziggle Tech significantly improved the performance of our site compared to what it used to be. After successfully stabilizing the platform in just a few months, we experienced a spike in sales. They streamlined a lot of features on the site, including the checkout experience.

How did Ziggle Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

They set our expectations by preparing a detailed scope of work in the beginning, and they've stuck to their timelines and deliverables very well. They're proactive about making suggestions for ways to continually improve the site, showing a genuine interest in the success of our business. 

Danny (CTO, Ziggle Tech) is one of the best project managers I've ever worked with; he's very knowledgeable and detail-oriented. He goes out of his way to ensure any issues are resolved quickly and accurately. We're able to reach their team without a problem, meeting in-person occasionally or communicating through WhatsApp, text, Skype, phone, or email.

Their team genuinely cares about client success. It feels as though they're part of our team.

I can't think of anything.
