We used a freelancer site to get connected. At the time, we had another SEO team, but they were inconsistent with their communication. Due to Zebra's strong ratings, we decided to start using their services to compare to the SEO team we used to have (since then, everything has been transferred to Zebra).

We use a Word Document form they provided to fill in the company's information (URL, keywords to target, cities to target, services provided, previous and current marketing strategies, etc.) and they take care of gathering relevant backlinks. We get regular reports and I have a team member of ours verify targeted keywords are getting ranked.

The clients we have been working on together for multiple years are now on the first page 100+ times (sometimes multiple times for the same keyword). The bigger spenders can even reach 400 placements for various keywords.

Each of our projects has a dedicated SEO manager. They first start out asking for Google Analytics and Webmaster access. Then they provide a summary of their plan for approval. After that, we get weekly Google Document Spreadsheets showing the different backlinks secured.

We haven't had any competitors be able to steal our clients by having more keywords. This gives us amazing client retention. It's great getting the weekly reports to know that work is always occurring.

I don't always agree with the on-site SEO optimization changes provided. Of course, as with all things, everyone has their own preferences. I haven't asked them to follow my methodology, or else they probably would.
