We Build Empires

Birth of an Empire

Building since 2012

Youtech & Associates (‘Youtech’ for short) CEO Wilbur You incorporated the company in July 2012 with the $600 he had to his name. Times were tough without a consistent revenue stream, but You and his team of two at the time made it work. His goal was to personally call 100 companies every day with an offer to build their websites for $500. Ninety-nine times out of 100 his proposal would be rejected, but as we all know, all it takes is one.

After three to four months, You and his charges finally had enough money to move to downtown Naperville – and they never looked back. Within 6 years, Youtech moved to a 6,000 square foot office at its current address and opened up another 5,000 square foot office in Scottsdale, Arizona.

From the days of going after small mom-and-pop shops to signing quarter-million dollar deals, Youtech has never wavered in its commitment to treating each project like it’s the last. Developing websites will always be our bread and butter, but our programming, mobile app development, and digital marketing strategies have grown more sophisticated as we increase our national footprint. The addition of our Scottsdale office has been a significant milestone in entering new markets and industries. Don’t stop us now.

Why We’re The Best

As a modern, full-service agency, Youtech combines the best qualities of both digital and traditional marketing and advertising to effectively achieve your goals. In an industry where change is the constant, we’re comfortable being uncomfortable. Taking on new disciplines and projects refines our skills and makes us not just better for ourselves, but our clients.

Youtech is filled to the brim with the most sharp-witted minds in the all dedicated working together to accomplish one goal: building your empire.

UrbanMatter Image

UrbanMatter

UrbanMatter is a nightlife and entertainment platform dedicated to helping Chicagoans keep tabs on what really matters in their city. With a monthly digital readership totaling over 150k – and a new mobile app boasting more than 13,000 downloads to date – UrbanMatter’s multinetwork approach to news and events makes it possible for local readers to stop relying on inauthentic, out-of-touch sources for the info they

crave.

With UrbanMatter, we were given the unique opportunity to build a modern media brand entirely from scratch. Beginning as Chicago Genie in 2015, UM got its start as a small-scale blog intent on using the insider knowledge of Youtech’s city-based writers to drive traffic. Recognizing a knack-for-news on behalf of our content creators – as well as a growing demand for reliable publications on the part of Chicagoans – it was the combined efforts of Youtech’s SEO, creative, and marketing teams that allowed us to take UrbanMatter from these humble beginnings confidently into the dog-eat-dog space of digital media.

Following a 2016 rebrand and some fresh new digs, what now separates UM from the rest of the pack is a strategy that shows off their penchant for authenticity. From their articles to their social media, UrbanMatter is a source that relishes in connecting its readers to the concerts, bars, restaurants, and lifestyles that matter most – and it shows.

Since taking up the UrbanMatter mantle in the fall of 2016, Youtech’s main goals have largely centered around growth, growth, and, of course, more growth.

Ace Home Services Image

Ace Home Services

ACE Home Services goal was very direct: Drive Leads. Increase Sales. ACE came to Youtech in hopes of gaining more calls and qualified leads, which in return, would result in more sales. In a competitive operation such as this, ACE had the top-notch quality, they just needed the finishing touch to bring awareness to all they had to offer.

Luckily, Youtech was able to fix that, using PPC and SEO to make the ultimate

impact.

Youtech provided a forefront marketing strategy that optimized the number of people reached by ACE Home Services, using PPC and SEO as the back legs of its gameplan.

Through PPC and SEO efforts, Youtech created polished Social Media, Website, and ad content, improving clarity, preciseness, and allure to grasp the full attention of potential customers. ACE Home Services’s website contained bulks of information that Youtech was able to gather, reorganize, and prioritize, and even now Youtech is currently revamping their Website to ensure critical success.

Youtech utilized local SEO to drive higher keyword rankings and conversions for ACE Home Services. Local SEO is a hyper-specific and effective way to market ACE’s local business, helping promote their services to local customers at the exact time they’re looking for them online.

Since taking over ACE paid advertising efforts, and making numerous optimizations, Youtech increased nearly all metrics within their campaign and eliminated wasted spend. In total, Youtech has

Accubow Image

Accubow

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Accubow is the world’s first augmented reality archery training mobile app. The Accubow system is comprised of a specialized bow with a single-resistance band that can be increased or decreased from 10 to 70 pounds of pulling resistance. The bow is synchronized with the Accubow app once activated and made with a phone mount to hold your phone in place while using the app. To use the app, archers pull

back, take aim, and shoot at a designated target as if using a real arrow. Triggered by the pullback, archers watch as their virtual arrows hit the targets on their phone screen.

Accubow is a revolution. It’s the most advanced, complete, and effective archery training device ever created, all while looking, feeling, and releasing like a traditional bow.

Bourbon & Bones Image

Bourbon & Bones

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Bourbon & Bones, a Square One Concepts restaurant, is a modern, upscale American steakhouse in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. Bourbon & Bones speaks for itself, letting its high-quality ingredients, freshly-cut steaks, and extensive collection of luxurious bourbons, whiskeys, and scotches do the talking. Award-winning executive chef, Joshua James “J” Amonson, personally tends to every

plate, because when it comes to steak, only the best will do. His fresh twists on timeless dishes strike a perfect balance of flavor, presentation, and innovation. And did we mention the drinks? Cocktail seekers will also be in good hands with house mixologist, Rich Moe, who will concoct anything your palette desires.

A CUT ABOVE

Bourbon & Bones needed an online persona that spoke to its sophisticated, fine dining atmosphere and innovative dishes. In walked Youtech. Youtech put its best foot forward to develop a new website, launch a social media strategy, and boost online traffic for Bourbon & Bones. Our social team creates and schedules clever Facebook, IG, and Twitter posts that increase followership, promote Bourbon & Bones, and highlight menu specialties to engage potential customers. These ideas are turned into visuals by our designers, who, as with a good steak, make every morsel better than the last. The upscale qualities of Bourbon & Bones further come to life on the pristine, newly designed website, where customers can swiftly view menus, contact staff, and make reservations.

Next Door & Window came to Youtech to improve their ROI with Google Ads. With their previous agency, they were experiencing 9 appointments scheduled at a $10,000 budget with 2 closed coming out to a $5,000 CPA (cost per acquisition). The company was most interested in creating a new campaign structure to drive new leads for both windows and doors.

Services

The Youtech team started managing Next Door & Window Google Ads account and within the first 30 days, Youtech dropped their CPA (cost per acquisition) 91% and increased their profitability over 63%. Quickly afterward Next Door started Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to increase organic leads and local ranking.

By the Numbers

Let’s shed some light on our efforts and show our true colors. Youtech is becoming more and more data-driven by the day to configure the most effective ways to use ad spend.

Glory Gains Gym is a personal training facility in Scottsdale, AZ for trainers and their clientele. Glory Gains Gym founder and owner Caleb Hock wanted to create a place where everyone, regardless of fitness levels, found common ground in fitness and sought a higher purpose in helping others accomplish their goals.

Who is Glory Gains

Gym?

Members of Glory Gains can join the gym as part of a training group or individually to train in their preferred format. A 45-yard turf field, brand new equipment, and premier individual and group training spaces provide the tools everyone needs to succeed

With the vision and work ethic of a small group, Glory Gains grew from four trainers and 100 members to 20+ trainers and 700+ members in less than a year.

No Guts, No Glory

In an age where self-image is defined as what is “liked” or deemed acceptable by others on social media, Glory Gains Gym interjects to say “here, you are enough.” Caleb’s ‘come as you are’ approach to fitness and group training has equalized the playing field. It’s part of a broader vision to help everyone who enters Glory Gains Gym lead a more nourished life body and soul.

So, how could Glory Gains Gym convey something so personal & build trust while staying in tune with the impersonal yet ubiquitous forms of modern business automation? Transparency.

SEO – PPC – Retargeting – Email Marketing – Social Media – Web Design – Web Development – Branding

Best Value Vacs (BVV) is an e-commerce giant that sells vacuum chambers, extractors, and material processing equipment to universities, laboratories, dispensaries, and individual consumers. The company grosses over $15 million from online sales annually.

Improved Web

Performance

Best Value Vacs came to Youtech to improve their site performance, specifically to clear up ongoing issues from its web developer. The company was most interested in creating a more positive user experience while continuing to drive new traffic and conversions for its thousands of products.

Why a Rebrand?

Best Value Vacs was facing a crisis of conscience. Although the monthly profits were high, the Best Value Vacs team had been feeling for a while that they were standing on shifting sands. Their growth had become so rapid that they had outgrown themselves, and were forced to put many branding efforts on the backburner. Consequently, internal morale was taking a hit and affecting team productivity. The team knew that without an affirmative identity everyone could get behind, the brand would not survive long-term.

Awesome Hand Gaming

SEO – Email Marketing – Social Media – Web Design – Web Development – Branding

Awesome Hand Gaming is a licensed video terminal operator (TO). AHG entered the legalized video slot machine industry in 2009 after the passing of the Illinois Video Gaming Act. Awesome Hand Gaming made the logical jump to video slot machines after 70 years in the food vending and entertainment

industries.

The Issue

Awesome Hand Gaming, part of the A&H Management and A&H Entertainers family of business, enjoyed two generations of success in jukeboxes, video arcade gaming consoles, darts, and billiards. Yet, its challenge was twofold: Helping locations market themselves to gamers, and then, by extension, marketing directly to gamers themselves. In other words, AHG had to somehow crack marketing to both B2B and B2C segments under one roof. On top of that, operators and bar/tavern establishments were having a hard time marketing to the highly-nuanced market of video slots gamers as it was; it would be up to AHG to lead them in a new direction.

The Objectives

Awesome Hand Gaming partnered with Youtech to develop an entirely new brand, complete with a fresh tagline, logo, website, social media, print, and digital marketing plans.

BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Guild Insurance Inc is a niche insurance agency which specializes in hospitality insurance. I am the president of the company .

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Youtech, and what were your goals?

We employed Youtech with the task of completely rebuilding and rebranding our insurance agency while leverage new technology to attract tech savvy prospects

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We interviewed several local web development firms and Youtech just "felt" like a right fit. In addition, Youtech had experience designing web products for the insurance industry AND my target clients. The team at Youtech are supremely confident in their ability to deliver...and they did!

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Rebrand of company logo. New website build focused on focused company branding with specific calls to action. Complex form submisison.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

4 people directly.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The team at Youtech did an amazing job of taking my input, direction and vision, and created a final product that was literally what I was envisioning all along.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

The project management style was primarily driven through Youtech's management software, Teamwork. This was a very effective method of management, all info, documents and communication threads were organized in a very clean, logical way.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The entire team at Youtech exudes supreme confidence in their ability to deliver a quality product. There was never a question that went unanswered or a task that was too big for the team. Overall they were great at communicating and delivering as promised.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

A clearer task list of client expectations and explanation of the timeline in the beginning of the project would have been helpful. My project began right as the COVID shutdowns hit, so maybe we were all a bit off at the time. This did not affect the overall flow of the project.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner of a phase converter and transformer company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Youtech?

We wanted to maximize our money spent with Google after having a lot of failed partnerships with other companies falsely claiming they could help us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Youtech is our SEO services provider for our e-commerce site. First, they looked at our SEO process and corrected our mistakes. Then, they took the time to wait to see where’s the best place to spend our dollars with PPC campaigns.

It was really different from other providers since they would just spend our money without solving our problems. Youtech did some tests, and the whole process took about a year. They showed us what our trends are and other analytics.

What is the team composition?

We work with Audrey (Project Manager).

How did you come to work with Youtech?

I was referred to Youtech by a good friend.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend $5,400 per month. At first, we thought it was kind of pricey, but now we’re very happy.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2019, and our work is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve been nothing but the best. Everything they said is true and they’re honest. I’m very happy with them. We’ve seen an increase in leads and even the phone calls are better.

How did Youtech perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re excellent in every area. It’s easy to communicate with them and they say what they mean.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They give us the real deal and don’t try to impress us with fancy words. They get it done.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I’m completely satisfied.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of marketing for Chicago Custom Foods.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Youtech?

We were trying to increase our e-commerce sales. We hired them for a PPC program. We also hired them to develop a new website for the brands that we have under the Chicago Custom Foods umbrella.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We actually launched two new brands this year, both of whom needed new websites. We realized that our other two brands’ websites could use a facelift as well, after seeing their awesome work on the two new brands. All sites were Shopify sites and included features like parallaxing, scroll-to-reveal, and showcasing our ingredients and our products in a nice way.

We’d seen a decline in our e-commerce sales, as we ran PPC and AdWords campaigns and stopped. They came in to restart the program. Because they did so well with PPC and web design, they also came in and helped our products on Amazon. They taught us about Amazon programming and its advantages, and we began advertising through Amazon with them.

Finally, they helped us with work on other platforms. This included YouTube TV, Roku, and other over-the-top advertising through streaming.

What is the team composition?

I had one main point of contact. If I needed any changes or revised timelines, I talked to him. There’s definitely developers, designers, and other folks behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with Youtech?

My husband is an entrepreneur who owns his own business. He directed me to an agency that wasn’t able to provide everything we needed. That agency referred me to Youtech.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $5,000 a month on PPC with them. I would say we probably spent about $50,000 in total with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together back in March 2020. We’re still in the process of developing sites.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The PPC work they have done has been mind-blowing. We have seen ROI of 150% or 160%. Our goal was to increase our conversion rate from 0.8% to 2.4% — they met that within a month and by April we were at 3.2%. Our e-commerce sales have grown by 55–60% month over month.

How did Youtech perform from a project management standpoint?

They live up to all timelines and do a great job at communicating everything. They make fantastic decks, showing how everything works. They’re super responsive and great at iterating the needs of the website. Their attitude is fantastic, I have nothing but positive things to say.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate that they’re scrappy. They started as a one-man-shop and have grown into a three-location business. We’re a small scrappy company ourselves, so us being able to partner with someone similar has been fantastic.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Maybe they could improve their creative development. They’re fantastic from a technical standpoint, but there is some small room for improvement in creative development.

We started working with them in February 2020, and the work is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We exceeded our goals for page visits, reseller sign-ups, and more. Last year one of our websites only had 400 page visits, but after they rebuilt it, we got 4,000 visits just in April.

How did Youtech perform from a project management standpoint?

Our account manager relays all my questions and concerns to the team. They’re usually pretty quick to get back to me.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I liked that the team was young and technologically savvy. They understood the newest trends in the industry.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There were some small details that we had them change on the websites they developed. They were receptive to our feedback, so it wasn’t a big deal.

The site has received positive feedback from internal and external sources alike on the information and its layout on the site. The work done by the Youtech team has led to an increase in overall site traffic, satisfying project stakeholders with both results and their team’s professionalism.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of an integrated health delivery group comprised mostly of primary care physicians. We provide care in hospitals, post-acute care settings, ambulatory locations and home-based care.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Youtech?

We have been growing pretty rapidly over the last few years, and the last iteration of our website was made about six years ago when we were probably one third of our current size. We wanted to try to update the site and improve our visual presence and SEO in order to match the growth that we had experienced.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They built a new site for us from the ground up, keeping the same brand elements but changing the design, adding some content, and really redoing the whole UI/UX. From there, they worked on our SEO in order to try to draw more traffic to the site.

What is the team composition?

I think there were about 5–6 people working on our account, including a lead designer, an SEO guy, and a content developer and project manager.

How did you come to work with Youtech?

We were first referred to them by another associate in our space, and at the time we weren’t ready to implement the changes, so we circled back with them a few months later to see if they were still interested and moved forward from there.

How much have you invested with them?

Since we started, the project cost has been around $20,000 in total.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in September 2019 and we are continuing to work together.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since the site launched, we have seen a pretty significant uptick in traffic, which we are very satisfied with. Both internal and external feedback has been really positive about the information presented and the site’s ease of use.

How did Youtech perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve been very satisfied with their ability to manage the project. We have conference calls on a periodic basis, weekly during the development process and closer to once a month now that we are focusing on maintenance. They are more than willing to communicate via email and phone calls whenever we have questions or requests.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The whole experience of working with their team was really positive, which isn’t something you often get with third party development companies.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

As with anything, your success is likely to be dependent on how involved the client is in the process as well. I was pretty hands-on with respect to our content and design methodology, but they did a great job of putting it all together and conceptualizing the less specific ideas that we had.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the director of marketing for a supplement manufacturer.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Youtech?

We needed help with our digital presence. Our team had some experience in the digital space, but we want to focus on it as the company grows. We needed someone who had a little more time than our team had. Thus, we brought in a company that understood the digital marketing space and help us with some of those hurdles.

We specifically make a testosterone support product. When you get into a space like that, some people aren’t very understanding of the word and what it means to have testosterone support in the supplement industry. It gets complicated as there are some hurdles and boundaries we have because of the positioning and how the supplement works.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Youtech primarily helped us in the digital marketing space. We have our own designers and developers, but we needed some next-level insight and understanding. They're running digital ad spends such as PPC, SEO, and other improvements. They get quite granular with incorporating new technologies and bring that expertise to guide us in what the capabilities of some of the systems are. They've helped with different things like retargeting and different conquesting for digital spending and also trying to see if we can find someone that has a need that maybe we didn’t identify initially. We also did a full overhaul on our site this year and it was imperative that we had a second set of eyes.

Overall, this means we’re in a space where people force ads through and waiting for them to get rejected or go the more legitimate route and find out how to actually talk to a customer in a roundabout way. Youtech was very well aware of those challenges when we signed with them, and they were very embracing of it. We have had people who have said it isn’t a problem, and that things will be totally fine, but then things don’t go well. Youtech, from the beginning, has addressed the issue and been upfront with there being a fundamental issue. However, they have found ways to address it and talk about it in a wholesome way knowing that we will not budge on our brand.

What is the team composition?

We have a project manager who we speak with on a regular basis who is incredible at making sure we have a response within minutes. There are an account manager and a team of SEO and digital creative people.

How did you come to work with Youtech?

Our president had a known friendship with someone who was related to someone that works with Youtech. We didn’t know who they were, but we felt it was worth talking to them to see.

The CEO of Youtech came to the meeting. They were a much larger group than what we originally thought; we didn’t know they had a Chicago-based office. Once that meeting happened, they had a willingness to tell us what their vision was, and it really aligned and really connected with our leadership. We had a good interaction with them, so we felt much better about working with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them on April 2019, and the work is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We set clear cost per acquisitions (CPAs) that we wanted to hit. More times than not, they have been able to figure it out and get it to that mark so that it was scalable. As we continue to grow, we have faith and trust that they can hit those numbers. I set really aggressive targets for us, and they have hit those CPAs pretty regularly.

There are certainly challenges when you run certain advertising spends and are trying to figure out what is working and what is not. They have always been very open to that and have been very transparent, making sure things line up and that both parties are happy with what we are seeing. We wanted someone that knew this is a partnership.

How did Youtech perform from a project management standpoint?

We use email, Slack, and often meet in person. I most often speak to my incredible account manager, who is fantastic and very responsive. Their CEO has been in our office, come to a couple of meetings, and met with us on the phone. It’s much easier to have conversations when decision-makers are present.

I get responses back very quickly. Even if we really need something, the CEO has been very accommodating and tries to make time. When we talk to them, they make sure that all the parties involved with the project are visible and available. Sometimes, agencies give only one point of contact, whereas Youtech will bring a lead for SEO or their digital creative person to meetings.

They’ve been open to communicating and helping us when we build ads or content. In the past, other agencies have had lackluster performance when it comes to schedule, but Youtech has met all deadlines.

Their communication has really helped drive that schedule and made sure that we are getting things done. Because it is more of a partnership, I wanted to make sure that our team was also integrated with them. It’s nice that we are holding each other accountable.

What did you find most impressive about them?

If I would speak highly of anything, it would be their transparency.

Are there any areas they could improve?

At the end of the day, there are certainly times when we haven’t hit our numbers. I can’t say they are perfect, but I don’t think any group can do anything perfectly. There've been times when we are working on a project and it didn’t fully fit what we were envisioning, but again I think that is really just an issue when you aren’t in the office and not with the person all the time; sometimes things get a little lost.

I would have a hard time saying that any problem we have had hasn’t been immediately addressed and immediately been worked to a resolution. They're spending the resources to make sure their staff is educated on all the things that we need. I really don’t have a lot of negatives outside of having a question every once in a while which they don’t know the answer to.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you’re going into it just thinking you are going to hire an outside group and see instant results, it just isn’t the case. Youtech has been pretty upfront about that which I like. The CEO didn’t come in with a mindset that they were going to turn everything around for us. You have to believe in your story and in what you are trying to do. An agency or an outside group, is only going to be one piece helping you get there.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m an executive at Riot Hospitality Group, which oversees a group of restaurants.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Youtech?

I wanted to take our different platforms that have developed a good audience and monetize them to drive a profit.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They helped us create a pay-per-click (PPC) campaign through Google. We identified the needs of each store individually. We identified the demographic and what the needs were for each store and then tailored a PPC campaign to each store to deliver a return. Youtech used their knowledge of Google and PPC ads to help me in my vision and how I wanted to grow profitability in each store.

What is the team composition?

My direct contact is our account executive. There’s a PPC lead in charge of the whole paid advertising program. When we have a more involved question about how we should structure the campaign, he provides answers and execution on a campaign level. There’s a director of client relations who is very involved with the brand. She’s often in some of our restaurants to gain a better understanding of them so that when we all talk, she has a lot of context and understanding of the brands. The owner of the company was the first person I met and he was the one who started the relationship between our two companies.

How did you come to work with Youtech?

It was a long time coming. Many years ago, they were based out of Chicago and they would visit our Chicago location frequently. The owner would talk to all of us and enjoyed the restaurant. He also let everybody know about his company and offered his services. At the time, we were pretty small and didn’t see that we could get a return on the products he was offering at the time. He was very persistent. and we finally connected less than a year ago. He showed some of the stuff he’s been doing for other companies and how his company is structured. I was sold on the amount of experience that he and his team brought to the table.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2018 and the work is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve seen an uptick in traffic and click-throughs. We’ve only been driving these campaigns for about three months, and we’re now seeing upward trends at the store level. When we first started, we had to work out a couple of the kinks. Some of the coupons needed to have different disclaimers on them. For the actual UI, we were getting a deep dropoff between clicking on the ad and redeeming the coupon. When we started seeing that, they called a meeting and we sat down and made it so that clicks on the ad results in the coupon automatically downloading. That really helped the conversion rate.

On our end, we had to do some management training to make sure that when someone was redeeming a coupon, it was getting accurately reported. I’m confident that when we get the reporting to as close to 100% as possible, we’re going to see some really large returns.

How did Youtech perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re always sending status reports. They’re always asking questions, such as whether we want to fine-tune campaigns for certain holidays. I don’t have to reach out to them for that, which is great. I get an email a couple times a week with updates. Other vendors I work with wait for me to come to them and I don’t have to do that with Youtech.

They’re also very transparent. If I have to get a hold of them quickly, they always answer their phone. We have a lunch meeting every couple of months just to touch base and we always choose one our locations so they can get a better idea of what our concepts are like.

Our account executive is awesome and communicates very well. She has a clear vision of what I’m looking for. She gets answers very quickly when I have questions.

Their invoicing system is very clean and they’re always on time. There are never any surprises. The accounting side of it is great. The initial contract that we signed was extremely detailed and transparent. They worked with us to craft it. I never felt as if it was designed to help keep them safe. It was a very bipartisan contract which was good.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re proactive and get ahead of things. They realized when the conversion rate was falling off and found a solution to that problem. Their skill level stands out. They’re very articulate and can easily explain to me what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. It makes me feel a lot more comfortable spending the money. They’re very helpful in making me understand exactly what they’re doing and why they’re doing it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The biggest thing I’m working on with them is getting a true conversion and true ROI. They have plenty of tools tell us how many people looked at the ad and how many clicked on it, but it’s taking some time to get to the point where I can say we spent X amount on an ad, 14,000 people saw it, 280 people clicked on it, and then 84 people walked in the front door and used it. That would clearly show our ROI and that’s the point we’re trying to get to.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

While you’re working with them, make sure that you’re talking to your team managers and staff and that they fully understand what the promotion is, what the coupons look like, how they work, and how to report it so that you can get to that true ROI and true conversion quicker.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner of Things Branded. We are a top supplier of branded apparel and material, and we cater to the B2B space.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Youtech?

Our website was fifteen years old, and we couldn’t find a web developer that was familiar with the software or language. We hired Youtech to develop a new website for us. Since our products are custom-made, we wanted our site to be more informational than e-commerce-based.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Youtech developed our new website from the ground up. We had a preliminary conversation so that Youtech could understand the direction we wanted to go in. They did an in-depth psychological test of our company and our personalities to determine a color scheme. They developed the color palette based on the message we wanted to convey and what we wanted to accomplish. The team created a contact page and some interactive elements; they also did logo design and graphics.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a team lead. About ten Youtech team members were involved in the project. Youtech assigned two people to determine the color scheme.

How did you come to work with Youtech?

One of our clients suggested we contact Wilbur (Founder and CEO, Youtech). I visited Youtech’s website and, although I’m not very technical, I could tell that their work was functional and well-designed.

What is the status of this engagement?

My company began working with Youtech in October 2018, and we launched the website in January 2019. Although they completed the project, Youtech provides ongoing maintenance and support.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Before working with Youtech, I avoided giving out our company’s web address; instead, I preferred more face-to-face business. I’m eager to show off the new site that Youtech built for us. I’m impressed with the final product.

How did Youtech perform from a project management standpoint?

Youtech’s communication was top-notch; they were in constant contact, whether they were seeking clarification or sending screenshots of their work. Our team lead and Wilbur were always available. This may be standard protocol, but their commitment blew me away. We communicated via phone and email. Our teams also engaged via a forum-like project management platform, where we kept transcripts and notes. Since the website’s only been live for a few months, we’re still making tweaks.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their approach to developing our color scheme was fascinating. They integrated colors that really worked for what we were trying to accomplish. Also, I liked how easily I could reach our team led. If we decide we do want to take an e-commerce route, we will definitely re-engage Youtech.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I found no room for improvement, and I’m saying this as someone with no stake in Youtech’s success.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

If you’re like me and have no tech background, don’t be afraid to ask when you don’t understand something.
