On the whole, we wanted to highlight how we could help clients’ businesses grow.

Your Extra Marketer was tasked with creating the copy for numerous landing pages that represent our expertise in certain domains. They continue to support those pages with a series of blog articles covering nontrivial topics. We’ve utilized them in different ways throughout our partnership. At the moment, we’re working on content for one particular industry

Our main website is meant to give prospective clients an idea of our expertise, services, industry-specific certificates, and portfolio. Your Extra Marketer also publishes industry articles covering the challenges someone would typically come to us for. They report when a piece is finished and ask for comments. After my feedback, Your Extra Marketer polishes the article until it’s ready to be published.

We’ll be revisiting our collaboration with Your Extra Marketer this month, and I plan to send them new tasks.

Our primary contact points have been their chief editor and their co-founder. I’ve also interacted with a few other team members via email.

How did you come to work with Your Extra Marketer?

We did quite a bit of research to find a marketing partner who fit our needs. Your Extra Marketer specializes in building entire marketing concepts, especially for IT companies, so we knew they’d be a good fit.

I reviewed their LinkedIn profile and found they had vast experience in the field. We met a few times to discuss what we wanted, our strengths, and our weaknesses. As part of a trial, Your Extra Marketer created several copy versions of one of our landing pages, which we liked, so we hired them.

We’ve spent about $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Your Extra Marketer around April 2016, and the partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I determine success based on how well-optimized, meaningful, and cross-linked a website is. Your Extra Marketer has followed these three areas, so we’re more than happy with their approach. They’re professionals, and we’ve never had a problem with the team.

We continually track website traffic and visitor behavior. We’ve seen a leap of organic traffic on the landing pages that feature Your Extra Marketer’s content. It’s been amazing to see an increase in parameters like user count, time spent on the site, and click-through rates. The number of inquiries has also grown, primarily thanks to their work.

How did Your Extra Marketer perform from a project management standpoint?

We work based on the plan their team created before kickoff. They asked a lot of questions before the start, which was fine; without receiving those answers, they wouldn’t be able to present our company’s expertise.

We communicate via email, Skype, phone, and in-person meetings. Your Extra Marketer is flexible with how we communicate and accommodates to our calendar.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed by their knowledge of IT industry specifics, particularly sending the right message to prospects to get them hooked. Your Extra Marketer asks detailed and important questions, which makes me believe their IT proficiency is high. They can identify the right message for attracting any client type in our field.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve their timing. Your Extra Marketer has sometimes pushed back deadlines, but we’re okay with that—content creation sometimes depends on the writer’s state of mind. Improving their timing would be superb, though.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Your Extra Marketer is professional, and potential clients should know that good results come only after investing a large portion of time and effort. Make sure to answer their questions thoroughly and give them the information they require. If you do, they’ll exceed expectations and do a great job.

It’s really nice that we don't need to spend time giving them background on every task. They’re experts in the I.T. and outsourcing domain so they already know the industry and major markets. We’re a software development shop. We provide custom software development services, setting up a fully dedicated team of software engineers that work exclusively for one single client as if they were a part of their own team. I’m head of business development and I oversee marketing as well.

What challenge were you trying to address with Your Extra Marketer?

We were revamping our marketing strategy. We wanted to make sure that our website, social media presence, and all the other marketing resources were in line with how we deliver. We wanted to come up with a unique message for our prospects and current clients that would clearly differentiate us from our competitors. We wanted fresh content that sends a very bold message.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started with the key brand messages that we wanted to deliver. We needed to really understand what we do as a company and how to explain it to our potential prospects. Our company worked on a marketing strategy, social media presence, and new web design as we were revamping our image and marketing strategy.

We produced 5–7 key brand messages as a result of a very long, hard work that we did together. As a result of that, Your Extra Marketer wrote the whole copy for our new website, which is 30 or 35 pages.

They also built the foundation of our content strategy, including helping us polish an email campaign. The website was the first thing that we delivered under this rebranded version of our company.

The main work, which involved establishing the key message was completed in November 2017. We now work together here and there. They help us out with pieces of content, such as a couple pages on the website.

We mainly interfaced with the chief editor, Mikita [Chief Editor, Your Extra Marketer]. We worked a little with his partner, Vitali [Co-Founder, Your Extra Marketer] as well.

How did you come to work with Your Extra Marketer?

We considered a good number of shops and freelance copywriters. We had a test task with a few, where the copywriter would provide a copy. We were pretty precise in terms of what kind of message we wanted to deliver. It wasn’t precise in terms of style.

What we liked about Your Extra Marketer is they understood our style from the very beginning. They asked a couple of really good questions that helped them to identify the very specific language and wording that we wanted. Since their first test task was good, we decided that they were the company we wanted to work with.

We have spent about $9,000–$11,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2016 and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We ranked so much higher than we used to with SEO. That wasn’t the main goal of our engagement, which was to build engaging content for real users. For some technology searches, we got really high—within the top 10 in the industry—which is pretty amazing. We now have content that is unique and interesting for people to read compared to almost any company in the industry. A lot of companies send the same message over and over, but we don’t. That’s the key thing that they helped us with.

How did Your Extra Marketer perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated a lot, which is what made the project a success. They run like an extension of our marketing team rather than as a contractor, which is key. They're very proactive when asking questions and yet they don’t overload us. They do a healthy amount of research before asking anything of us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Even though we weren't sitting in the same room as them, they still got to know our industry very well. They didn’t have access to our engineers, which our onsite copywriters have, but they knew the industry so well that sometimes we read their copy and it seems to be written by somebody who has an extensive understanding of niche engineering/technology details. They write copy that gets our clients hooked, which is brilliant, important, and quite rare.

Are there any areas they could improve?

If you’re looking for an agency that is going to come up with something very quickly, I don’t believe you’ll get the results that you want. They don’t allow themselves to produce something bad. High-quality copy requires a bit of time. We spent a good number of hours describing what we do, what we wanted, and providing them with links to our competitors.

This onboarding process is something that they do with all of their clients. For those who would like to get their copy done within a couple of hours, the Your Extra Marketer team is not the right company to go to.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you want something solid, deep, and high quality, take the time and work with Your Extra Marketer during the onboarding phase. Try to give them as much context as possible because based on that, they will deliver beyond your expectations. If you don’t have that much time, the best idea is to either go somewhere else or come up with something yourself. Your Extra Marketer needs some context to understand your business deeper in order to provide this engaging content that they can provide.
