Overlap is an up and coming marketplace focused on the buying/selling of automotive parts. As part of our service, we pride ourselves on verifying all used parts to ensure our buyer is receiving the exact part they want and are comfortable with the condition they have purchased for.
Our aim for the marketplace is to steer away from generic listings and to provide a seamless centralised platform for all to access their parts from - whether it be by private sellers, mechanic workshops and even directly from established manufacturers. I am the CEO of Overlap and currently oversee the growth of the company by ensuring we remain true to our company values of transparency, inclusiveness and integrity.
I am accountable for the overall development of the company and drive our company roadmap in the direction that allows us to have the most positive influence in the automotive community.

We primarily engaged X/OVER for brand identity services, which was met with an energy that matched ours. Rachel (GM) and Kenny (Designer) were both approachable in every sense you can imagine. They shared an appreciation for our passion in everything automotive and were keen to play a pivotal role in designing a logo/brand identity that screams "Purist".
Our goals; while very simplistic, was for intended purposes. Overlap was not meant to be overly-engineered for our audience and was meant to be accessible for all people who show a minute form of interest in their cars and car parts. The logo is an excellent example of a passion that could be easily understood to the average person.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We initially searched online for a number of different designers - one of which was X/OVER. Funny enough, I stumbled upon Kenny Do - who I personally knew (unfortunately not his amazing creativity).
Looking at the portfolio of the team, I saw they were key partners to designing the branding identity and direction of BAY NINE Omakase. I was invited by the person who was behind the development of BAY NINE for a pre-grand opening Omakase night.
I remember being very impressed with the designing and colour scheme of the menu and logo, but didn't realise this was the work of X/OVER. Putting two and two together, I did not hesitate to immediately reach out to Kenny and Rachel for an opportunity to work with them on Overlap.

All our communications were primarily via email. We unfortunately have not had a chance to meet in person. Rachel and Kenny organised an initial ideation session to share the vision we had for Overlap as well as some designs that inspired us. The project scope were as follows:

Rachel and Kenny were happy to accommodate additional meeting sessions to help discuss our feedback and thoughts.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Rachel was our main point of contact for developing the project scope and finalising the quote. She has been nothing short of amazing (if there was a better word, use that one). An understanding, relatable and absolutely legendary person to talk to and work with.
She has handled all our communications, requirements and ideas with Overlap and has seamlessly cascaded this down to Kenny. Kenny was the main designer behind Overlap (to my knowledge!) and delivered a beautiful job, needless to say - we love it more and more everyday.
He was able to articulate his varying design choices as well as openly prodding us for any other thoughts we had on our vision for the company, only to bring it to life resulting with the logo we have now.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
We have yet to launch as our platform is still under development. However all our friends and family are big fans of our logo designs. Needless to say, we are confident this is the logo that will soon one day be known globally.

As our project was simple, there was no need for complex systems beyond Google Meet and emailing. All our communications were seamless and were never met with any hostile intentions or delays. Rachel was always prompt to respond and was always understanding of our needs.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their business is young, but ambitious. In every sense, this was Overlap. I respect their hard work and ability to prioritize our needs before anything else. Beyond creating a timeless design, what I loved most was how energetic they were to be a part of our vision. To us, they are our team members and I look forward to working with them again on Overlap.

I reviewed 3 different proposals, and after meeting with the X/OVER Agency I chose them based on their friendly team, affordability and previous design work I saw of theirs.

After a couple of initial zoom meetings (during our Melbourne lockdown) the X/OVER Team and I decided on a plan to move forward to get the branding, packaging, website and social media for my company looking just right and cohesive. Throughout the constant changes, midnight emails a mile long from me and more changes, the X/OVER Team were patient, generous, hand working, very creative and talented and always super helpful.
We had many delays from my end and the team were always gracious and patient with it all. The website, brand, packaging design and social media all look incredibly beautiful because with every little idea I had around my brand, they managed to take that idea and turn it into something incredibly bold and beautiful. They always managed to turn my ideas into exactly what I wanted even though I didn't really have a clear idea of what I wanted. Magicians!

Their workflow was fantastic and I couldn't fault it, but as I am still a one-man-band, I'd say they spent a lot of time waiting for information from me. As this is the first time I'm starting a company, I was quite new to this and often didn't know what was needed.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
All in all, it was a very positive and productive experience. I have nothing to compare this to, since this is my first time creating a brand and working with an agency, but regardless, I loved working with them. They have taken everything I had in my head and turned it into a beautiful brand.

To double our lead acquisition and get a better quality of leads. This has resulted the company to grow over 100% every year for the last 3 years.
SOLUTION
How did you select The Xover Agency?
We have worked with a number of agencies in the past, our main issue being that we couldn't find an agency that informed the overall marketing strategy. Most other agencies pick a specialty and define the strategy around their core service which may not be the best strategy for your business. Xover was able to define the strategy from the top down and execute where we know we could get results as soon as possible.

A lot of the work was data driven from a build, measure learn approach. We initiated the rebrand, launched the new website and assessed the data. Based on the data we iterated on the website and messaging another 3-4 times which also informed our google and social ads campaigns.
