BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a founder and CEO of Local Keeps, an online market featuring products made by Costa Rican artisans and small entrepreneurs. We sell more than 1000 products, including clothing, food, arts and crafts, books, and accessories as well as specialty items for kids and pets.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire WX Digital Agency?

We hired WX to rescue our website. Another vendor had promised it within days, but the project was stuck and incomplete after nine months.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed a fully functional e-commerce site that would allow for high levels of customization, especially over time. Unlike standard sites, the design also needed to reflect our company’s values and motto. Moreover, we wanted to go live within two or three months; we had already spent so much time and money on this project and our suppliers were counting on us to deliver.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

WX has worked on another of our projects, a travel agency website that offered services as opposed to products. As the days turned into months with our previous vendor and we realized our retail website may not see the light of day if we stayed with that company, we turned to WX. Despite the differences in the website types, we had no doubt they were the agency to help us.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

WX received a project that was less than half developed. While the previous developer had recommended a very rigid platform, WX presented us with three different possible ways to advance, all of which meant abandoning the work already done. We reviewed their cost, time, and customization analysis and decided together on the best route forward. The website was finished on time, and we retained WX´s services for ongoing tasks such as web enhancements and e-marketing.

What was the team composition?

WX is composed of a multicultural staff that is located mainly in Panama and India, but the CEO of the company is always available and participates in many of the meetings. We were also assigned two project heads, one for development and another for marketing, with tasks that overlapped quite often.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Without WX, we could have never launched our business, much less be able to continuously improve our website at the rate we are. We require a web developer who is willing to research non-standard options, and WX has always been open to doing just that. They continue to provide solutions that allow our project to blossom as we’d hoped and more.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Because of the complexity and level of customization, the project management is continuously changing. We began with Google Drive and Excel sheets to monitor the never-ending requests, but WX recently presented us with an even better option in a single app.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are willing to please the client without sacrificing quality. Their systematic approach allows them to follow processes and meet deadlines.

Are there any areas for improvement?

WX is always improving. Whenever there is a mistake or an obstacle, they fix what needs to be fixed.
