Mobile App Dev for IT Startup
“They truly put a lot of thought into our project and performed their best work.”

the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the CEO of a start-up in the IT field.
What challenge were you trying to address with WOXAPP?
We had an idea for a new mobile application as well as new market opportunities and needed to find a vendor who could help us develop it.
What was the scope of their involvement?
During the first stage of the collaboration, we went over the user experience of the application. We defined the functionality for users, interaction, purpose, and communication. They helped us prove our idea was feasible.
Our application helps senior citizens navigate the cities they visit and live. If a user is unsure of where to go and what to do, the app provides directions and points of interest along the way.
Currently, they’re developing the product for Android. Following the technical specifications, we provided, WOXAPP created the design. They developed the types of user interactions we envisioned.
What is the team composition?
Initially, we were in contact with a sales rep who provided a detailed presentation describing their services and what we could expect. After that, we worked with the project manager. We also had direct contact with top management who answered our questions informed from a technical point of view.
How did you come to work with WOXAPP?
We came across WOXAPP on the internet. After contacting several companies, we decided they were the best.
How much have you invested in them?
We have spent around $4,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together on this project from December 2018–March 2019 and are about to begin the next phase.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
WOXAPP did a great job at designing and developing the application we envisioned. They truly put a lot of thought into our project and performed their best work. The team was very prompt and informative.
How did WOXAPP perform from a project management standpoint?
The project management wasn’t as good at the beginning due to internal reasons. After they appointed a new project manager, everything went smoothly.
What did you find most impressive about them?
WOXAPP helped us all along on the way. They contributed their own ideas during the development process. They gave us suggestions I liked very much. From my point of view, they’re a thoughtful and reliable team.
Are there any areas they could improve?
During the next phase, they could be a bit more assertive. Maybe they could hire more people to help with time management.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would refer WOXAPP without hesitation.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of a startup, which has a food service ordering application for Turkish restaurants.
What challenge were you trying to address with WOXAPP?
We needed a company who had experience working with restaurants as we needed help with a development project.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed the MVP of our ordering app. We’ve just launched the iOS version along with the administrative panel. They used Swift as well as Node.js for the admin panel. They did the UX/UI design and development, and the main feature allows users to order food in restaurants without waiters.
They developed a prototype of the UX design, which we approved it. They then developed the perfect UI design and offered us two concepts with different colors and solutions. We selected the best solution and are very satisfied with the choice. Next, they chose technical tasks for developing the iOS version.
What is the team composition?
There’s a business development manager, a project manager, a design specialist, the CTO, one iOS developer, and one senior developer.
How did you come to work with WOXAPP?
We looked at three or four different companies and decided that WOXAPP was the best for us.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in October 2018, and the work is ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re happy with the quality of their work and everything has been excellent. The quality is good—they determined the minimum functionality necessary for the rapid release of the product and worked out good designs.
How did WOXAPP perform from a project management standpoint?
They had a high level of communication. They’re always available and maintained an excellent dialogue between our teams.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their approach and expertise are impressive—they’ve developed projects for restaurants before. They ask a lot of questions to get a full understanding of what we want, and they also gave us good advice.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The project is on-going, but for now, everything is excellent.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
No, I don't have any specific comments.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the owner of a chain of supermarkets in Ukraine and online.
What challenge were you trying to address with WOXAPP?
We needed a mobile system for our customers.
What was the scope of their involvement?
WOXAPP is developing our Android app, which is now ready for release. They’ve built the user and admin sides of the application, including both functionality and design. They did the coding and provided the technical documentation.
What is the team composition?
We’ve had between 30–40 people working on our project.
How did you come to work with WOXAPP?
I came across an ad on the internet and found their website. I read their case stories of other projects and requested more information. Their manager contacted me. We had an interview during which we discussed the approach and timelines. They answered all of my questions and gave me an offer.
Their salesperson and project manager really focused on my problems and possible solutions to them. The other companies I spoke with mostly talked about themselves rather than my project.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent more than $30,000 so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working with them since April 2017.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re just at the release stage so don’t have any impacts yet. That will likely take another several months. We do know that, despite the time it has taken to build, the idea is still relevant and that there is a market for it.
How did WOXAPP perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicated mostly through phone and Skype. They also used Slack but I didn’t use it much as it wasn’t particularly convenient for me.
I’ve been satisfied with our project manager who was highly professional. We understood each other well. Communication was strong and I had a clear vision of what was happening at every stage.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Communication during the project was what worked best for me. I was highly involved in the project. I was able to understand at every stage what was being done, what the results were, how we’d get to the end of that stage.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could possibly adjust their prices.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I’m the product manager for Tamaq, a startup, food-delivery service that connects customers, restaurants, and couriers.
For what projects/services did your company hire WOXAPP?
We needed someone to develop mobile apps for customers and couriers, and an administrative panel for restaurants.
What were your goals for this project?
We wanted to introduce a unique project into Kazakhstan’s market.
How did you select this vendor?
We were looking for a service provider that had experience developing client-server systems. WOXAPP’s team are experts in market analysis and building mobile and web apps.
Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?
WOXAPP developed consumer and courier apps as well as the frontend of the restaurant administrative panel. These projects required them to work with UX/UI, technical specifications, programming, regression tests, and integration tests.
Their specialists developed UX sketches based on a series of interviews that we then approved. They also developed icons for the UI and several design concepts which we also had to approve. Finally, before they started developing the app, they presented the functional logic to us and compiled it into a 350-page technical document for future development work.
What was the team composition?
In addition to a project manager and their CTO we worked with UX/UI specialists, and iOS developer, an Android developer, a frontend developer, and a tester.
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?
The mobile apps are being prepared for release, as is the administrative panel for restaurants. We’ll be able to analyze our service efficiency in about six—12 months.
How was project management arranged and how effective was it?
WOXAPP worked within a clearly defined process that helped us move from stage to stage smoothly and progress quickly through development. They used the Scrum methodology and we monitored their code quality in Bitbucket. We also received interim reports and saw demos every two weeks. It was a very transparent and controlled process.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They pay maximum attention to detail in all the little things and try to find the best solutions for difficult situations.
Are there any areas where they can improve?
They would benefit from improving their testing process.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am Project Manager for a company that provides solutions in the field of security. This project was for child control and corporate solutions. I am responsible for product sales, working with the development team and promoting the project.
For what projects/services did your company hire WOXAPP?
We developed our project together with WOXAPP.
What were your goals for this project?
We had the design and logic of the project, but we needed a technical team that was ready to be responsible for the implementation of the project.
How did you select this vendor?
The main criterion was whether the contractor could cope. We were creating non-standard solutions that required a lot of expertise.
Describe the project in detail.
We developed a mobile application and a web application. The web application administers the data. An API was developed for communication between the web and the mobile applications. The server application and other elements of the system were also developed.
What was the team composition?
The project team was great. Apart from the project manager, there was a large team made up of technical specialists who could work on the backend, frontend, mobile development, etc. We also had a quality specialist.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
This is a private project which is related to data security, so we can not disclose data, but I will say that we are successfully selling the product. It continues to develop and improve.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We worked with the project manager to jointly set tasks and manage their implementation. The workflow was based on the Agile methodology.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
They had great design expertise. Their overall involvement in the project drove it to a good result.
Are there any areas for improvement?
There were many details that were clear to them but incomprehensible to us. We communicated a lot in order to reach a common understanding. Perhaps it is a good idea to improve customer training as not everyone is good at IT projects from the start.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
We’re an international company that produces products of aesthetic and anti-aging medicine. Our company is an expert in preservation and improvement of skin quality. I’m the senior project manager.
What challenge were you trying to address with WoxApp?
Our company needed to develop an application for internal use to help sales managers and distributors to present products.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed a native Android application for us, but I’m unsure of the technology used.
After we created the prototype and design, we prepared the performance specification, then there was development, debugging, and launching performed.
The app allows the company to prepare presentations that the managers receive in a convenient form within the app. After receiving the presentation, managers are able to modify it, change the file order, specify their own scenarios, etc., then arrange a meeting with customers. The app ultimately improves the quality of product presentation and increases the number of sales.
What is the team dynamic?
There were 4-5 specialists working on the project. I'm unsure how many of them were developers because I only had contact with the managers.
How did you come to work with WoxApp?
We’d received positive references from one of our companies that had already worked with them, so we decided to return to them for further cooperation.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent about $10,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in February 2015, and the project was finished in October 2015.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The project was carried out according to performance specifications and is now in operation. It’s an internal project, so I’m unable to specify any metrics.
How did WoxApp perform from a project management standpoint?
After signing the agreement, we were in contact several times. It was the best solution, and we are satisfied with everything.
What did you find most impressive about them?
It was a well-adjusted and efficient process with a professional team. I would like to thank the entire team, but especially Yulia [Project Manager, WoxApp] and Artyom [UX/UI Designer, WoxApp].
Are there any areas they could improve?
There are always things that could be improved.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Yuria-Pharm, a pharmaceutical corporation, is the number one hospital distributor in Ukraine. I was in charge of the project with WOXAPP.
What challenge were you trying to address with WOXAPP?
Initially, we wanted to create a mobile app with augmented reality. Using the app, a buyer could get product information about medical drugs. We also wanted to address important concerns such as forming relationships with buyers, doctors, and distributors.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, we talked about our business needs and identified the processes for improvement. We then focused on the tasks that the app would perform. Based on our discussion, they selected tools and solutions for these challenges. They developed a mobile app for Android and iOS as well as a web panel for application management.
Its primary function is product presentation: displaying information about the product, specialization, contraindications, proposed clinical use, etc. Physicians can scan the medication’s barcode and quickly get information about it, or they can search manually using the catalog. Another key element is the calculator, which allows users to calculate dosage according to the indices entered. Each medical drug requires a complex formula.
How did you come to work with WOXAPP?
We chose them based on their portfolio, cost, and team.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $10,000–$50,000 on their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
We completed the project in 2015, and we update it periodically.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The app works well, and we get a lot of positive reviews. It has a rating of 4.9 on Google Play.
How did WOXAPP perform from a project management standpoint?
They sent regular reports and did online presentations, which allowed us to see results immediately. We also had online documents and calendars. We communicated using email, Skype, phone, Bitbucket, Google Docs, and spreadsheets. There were a lot of documents required.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They had a clear understanding of our vision and our process. They provided exactly what we were looking for without us telling them what to do.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There were some details that they should’ve paid special attention to. However, these were improved during the process.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the founder of a company that created an app that allows people to automatically pay for their food when they are in a restaurant.
What challenge were you trying to address with WOXAPP?
I introduced an idea of an app that automatically pays the client's check and WOXAPP developed everything, including the design and UI.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They developed a mobile application for iOS written in Java, and they worked it with restaurant systems. It was challenging because there are many different types of restaurant systems available. The challenge was to create a common solution to get a connection with these different restaurants' IP, and then download the information from the restaurant sites.
What is the team dynamic?
I had one project manager, and I have spoken to a developer and designer as well. At each stage, there were different people.
How did you come to work with WoxApp?
We found them through a Google search. I checked their website, checked comments, checked their current projects. I had a call with a manager to get a price list and decided to go with WOXAPP.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them starting in 2015.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I had some problems on the business side of the app so I decided to place the project on hold, temporarily. I don't have any metrics yet.
How did WOXAPP perform from a project management standpoint?
Overall, the communication was very good. We used traditional channels like Messenger, Skype, and email. Most of the time when I sent a message someone from the group would respond quickly. If I had any questions or queries, they ran a detailed analysis rather than just assure me that they could do it; they deeply look at the problem.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The most impressive thing is the level of communication and the feeling that I can trust that they are capable to solve any problems that come up.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could use some more formal metrics to present the result of the product more clearly and have step-by-step results that they can present to the client.

Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the Operational Audit Manager at an e-commerce site with a catalog offering 26 million goods. We are the largest company in our region, our site is visited by more than 1.8 million people a month. In my role, I am in charge of project implementation.
What challenge were you trying to address with WoxApp?
We had an old, outdated Android app. Buyers complained about the absence of payment options and dead functions. The app design ran its course and no longer met our requirements. We needed to develop a new mobile app according to new requirements.
Our company is popular, with more than 1.8 million visits a month, so we had high standards in choosing a developer and evaluating their competency levels.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We only looked at native Android developers, and we wanted to develop on Java. Before the work started, we didn’t have a clear vision on how we wanted the functions to be implemented. There was a lot of internal dialogue and doubts regarding the convenience of certain functions. We didn’t know how to make the search through a catalog of 26 million goods comfortable. There were also a lot of inner-specific processes which might’ve been vague to someone outside of the company. WoxApp dedicated a lot of time to app design. We discussed each detail and function. Before this project, we didn’t realize that so much time could be spent only on UX.
How did you come to work with WoxApp?
WoxApp has experience working on e-commerce projects. We got in touch with some of their previous customers and read their reviews. We familiarized ourselves with the team that was going to work on the project. They offered us the best solution in terms of price and performance quality.
How much have you invested with them?
We've spent less than $10K.
What is the status of this engagement?
It's in it's 5th month and is not yet complete.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The project is still in its startup phase. Due to changes made on the company’s website, the app is not in service at the moment.
In terms of development, we had had some experiences with other companies. We noticed that WoxApp’s scrupulous and detailed work in the project’s first stages helped us avoid mistakes and misunderstandings in later development. That’s the point where we knew what our application would look like, and the doubts disappeared.
Their attention to the UX and design was great. We were really impressed with the time they put into it.
What did you find most impressive about them?
From the beginning, the work was done very purposefully. All functions were divided into iterations, one iteration lasted for 1 week. After each iteration was finished, we received a presentation of its features. It was convenient, I could see the process advancing. It was obvious that WoxApp had a lot of experience, so we trusted the process.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The server was on our site, so the work needed to be well-coordinated with close cooperation. They could improve the communication process with external developers, specifically in approving the mode of operation for the work. Due to this lack of communication, we didn’t meet the deadline. Nevertheless, the work was professionally done.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the founder of a mobile service which gives free access to Wi-Fi spots around the world.
What challenge were you trying to address with WOXAPP?
We needed iOS and Android applications for users to search for wifi spots.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We gave WOXAPP requirements for logic and design of the applications which use an actual hotspots base. Woxapp developed the applications natively and they have updated the application a few times as well.
What is the team dynamic?
I was always in touch with a program manager. I understood their development system, which allowed me to control the results.
How did you come to work with WoxApp?
We found them on Google and ratings websites in Ukraine. We gave our app requirements to some companies who then analyzed the users and competitors of our app. WOXAPP did this work the best so we choose to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $25,000 USD.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in November 2014, and the project was completed in August 2015.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The app is now live for both iOS and Android. The Android application has a user rating of 3.8 stars, and the iOS application is also well received.
How did WOXAPP perform from a project management standpoint?
They did the work according to schedule.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They are good developers and I like how they work. They always find solutions to difficult problems.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could improve the development speed.
WOXAPP delivered an application that fully encapsulates the concept the client initially had in mind. They performed outstandingly throughout the project. Along with a dedicated project manager, they offered insight and engagement from senior leadership.
