What was the scope of their involvement?

WordSphere has built a  website that has a funnel for investors. They’ve also worked on developing a dashboard and tools for the site. We’ve provided some documentation, but they mainly figure things out by themselves. 

In terms of site features, the platform allows backend personnel to add properties easily. It’s essentially a CMS custom-built with React and Laravel. Moreover, it gives us metrics on how many of our apartments are paying rent on time, how many of them are leased, and what percentage of a building is filled up. We can also use it to see every tenant’s name and history.

I’ve personally interacted with at least 15 people from WordSphere, including project managers, developers, and billing specialists.

We found WordSphere through a direct referral. A person who provided marketing consulting for us recommended them strongly. This was after the two teams we previously worked with became complete disasters.

Our investment is around $200,000 in total. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in June 2020, and the engagement is ongoing. We’ve already built our system, but we still use them for periodic maintenance here and there.

WordSphere has completely digitized our platform, and we’ve received good word from our property managers and tenants. Overall, the team has managed to get us to the finish line and kept us happy when other agencies couldn’t.

They created native apps for both Android and iOS, while our core platform utilized the .NET and ASP framework. We provided wordsphere with details regarding our workflow, business processes, some initial ideas, and wireframes.  

Our platform enables users to participate in real-time bidding for foreclosed and distressed assets. This capability allows us to bid on assets in the field using mobile devices connected to our platform. Subsequently, these assets would enter a construction and rehabilitation workflow. Our platform supports large-scale operations across multiple regions.  

wordsphere was instrumental in establishing our entire backend payment processing by utilizing significant merchant services. We were able to implement online screening through another third-party integration. Ultimately, our goal was to create a comprehensive platform—ensuring our users would not need to leave it to complete necessary tasks.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

With wordsphere assistance, we successfully scaled our business. We expanded from two employees to 160 within two years. The platform enabled us to significantly reduce overhead costs. wordsphere identified aspects we had overlooked, which hastened the overall product development timeline. Having a proprietary software platform allowed us to secure considerable capital.

Overall, our technology platform became a driving force in creating enterprise value. Even now, we are engaging other groups and achieving respectable enterprise valuations based on our current platform—something wordsphere helped build. The quality of their initial work has led to more opportunities for my new venture.
