A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder and partner of a management consulting company in Switzerland. We make digital transformation work and implement software projects together with our partners all over the world.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Wizy Vietnam?

We needed a cost-effective partner with in-depth security knowledge to help us develop our security assessment web application.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Security Selfie is a web application that enables small and medium enterprises to get an assessment of their security. We detailed our requirements for the app, and Wizy Vietnam used Node.js technology to develop the web application as a whole and design the frontend from scratch. They also integrated different security components, like identity and access management.

IT heads or CEOs fill out a questionnaire, and Security Selfie provides them with security recommendations and best practices. Right now it is a minimum viable product; we are testing the market and making small fixes to the product.

What is the team composition?

We worked with two full-time developers, and they had a project manager for the technology side.

How did you come to work with Wizy Vietnam?

I had done projects with their lead developer at the previous company he worked for. I continued to work with him after he founded Wizy Vietnam because I was familiar with his skills and the quality of his work.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $6,000 a month, which has come to roughly $150,000 over two years.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in 2016, and are currently fine-tuning the app based on market response.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They were very reliable and always delivered on our requirements. They provided good quality designs and development at a reasonable price.

How did Wizy Vietnam perform from a project management standpoint?

We had an internal product owner that acted as a single point of contact for the project, but Wizy Vietnam performed very well when it came to managing the development teams. We used general Agile project management processes, such as daily scrums and standups for project updates. We defined the project requirements on Jira, had some communication over email, but mostly used Confluence for collaboration.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They could easily provide additional development resources. They have good connections with specialists and if we made a request for a particular skill set, they were able to bring the right people onto the team quickly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

When the project involves leading-edge technology, instead of the standard applications, they would benefit from having a deeper understanding of technology architecture to assess the impact of new technology.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would suggest having an internal product owner that is operationally involved in the project.
