What was the scope of their involvement?

WideFoc.us developed and posted content on our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. They posted five times a week, every day of the workweek. The team also monitored those platforms for activity, and they provided a backend analysis of our engagement and social media traffic.

Additionally, WideFoc.us developed advertising strategies for Facebook and LinkedIn. They created the content and managed those posts. The team also responded to comments on social media, and they informed us if there was something we needed to handle directly.

We worked with an account manager and the person who generated the content. A third team member from WideFoc.us handled business matters.

WideFoc.us’ founder is a former volunteer of our organization; that’s how we developed a relationship.

We worked together from October 2021–March 2022. Within that timeframe, we engaged with them twice under two different scopes of work.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

During our collaboration with WideFoc.us, our engagement improved across all our social media platforms. We also saw an increase in followers.

How did WideFoc.us Social Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed pretty well regarding project management. The team was organized and responsive. Although we got through most deliverables, they didn’t complete all of them. We had monthly meetings for reporting and communicated over email and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

WideFoc.us’ biggest strength was the quality of their content. Although I haven’t dealt with many other providers to compare them to, WideFoc.us’ content was strong, and they had a good grasp of our organization’s voice. For the most part, they did a good job of staying on top of the content that was relevant to our audiences.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their customer service was not always ideal. We really enjoyed working with the person who did our content development, but the person who managed our account could be a little rude. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to be clear with your goals and have regular communication.

I’m an independent contractor who acts as the marketing manager for three master-plan communities in the Denver area. I write blogs for their websites and produce various videos (testimonials, profiles) for the community and events within the community. These require interactions with the residents and the builders to answer questions and provision of what they need in terms of signage and marketing materials.

What challenge were you trying to address with WideFoc.us Social Media?

With WideFoc.us, we wanted to present these communities to audiences who may be interested in new construction. They help raise awareness around these communities and highlight their features, benefits, and attributes to our home-buying audiences — people in search of a new home.

What was the scope of their involvement?

WideFoc.us community managers generate daily Facebook and Instagram posts for each of the three communities. This involves combing all the builders’ websites and assets to come up with clever ways to position and highlight those attributes. Whether it’s the specific model or design of a builder, move-in ready homes, or lifestyle interest bits — they rotate through the builders to get everyone exposure — they find a way to cleverly present it. Usually, it includes word-smithing, sourcing attractive photos, or videos of the product or people who live or work in the communities.

I’m sure they pay attention to SEO, but my interaction with them isn’t SEO-centric.

We have monthly calls, as well as intermittent emails and calls back and forth for anything that comes up, including an event or builder promotion that we want to align with our regular e-blasts for more support. When there’s a new builder that joins the community, we get together and discuss how to support that grand opening or their efforts to reach home buyers. 

For example, we have two events coming up in different communities that they’ll be promoting, either through pre-promotion or on-site live streaming. One is the opening of a new rec center, and the other is a hot air balloon launch. They’ll be working with us on those events to provide social media support.

What is the team composition?

I have minimal interaction with Eric (CEO & Chief Strategist), and I have weekly interaction with two content creators: Amanda (Community Manager) and Emily (Content Creation & Copywriter).

How did you come to work with WideFoc.us Social Media?

I inherited them when I came on board in 2017. They were in-place working on one community, but once I interacted with them, I saw that there was a clear disparity between their product and the social media provider established in the other two communities. At our year-end budget conversations, I and the representatives from the other two communities recommended that we engage WideFoc.us for all three communities.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

When WideFoc.us took over the two communities that they didn’t work on initially, there was a dramatic improvement in the analytics. They’ve continued to build a steady following.

WideFoc.us Social Media submits monthly reports about what attracted the most eyeballs through engagement statistics. The market has been so busy lately that we haven’t reviewed them together, but they monitor the numbers throughout the month and make adjustments along the way. 

I’ve always enjoyed working with the team in terms of coming up with creative content. They’re very diligent in searching the builders’ websites for the most current information and assets that are available. Our content is similar week to week, so WideFoc.us has to come up with creative and fresh ways to present the content. I’m pleased for a different reason each week based on what they do. They pay close attention to what’s going on, both in current events and the marketplace. 

How did WideFoc.us Social Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re superior because they pay attention and are proactive. This isn’t a happy example, but after the shooting in Boulder, Colorado recently, we pulled everything we were going to post — and WideFoc.us initiated that. They knew it wouldn't be right to post anything after what happened.

We communicate over email — if I have something, I think is important for them, I’ll pick up the phone. Occasionally, they will be contracted to be on-site for an event in one of the communities — either to livestream it or take casual photos — and I’ll pick up the phone to schedule. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their responsiveness stands out. If anyone poses a question on any of our official websites, then they’ll ping me for a response, as I don’t have time to stay on top of those. They’re able to handle everything the easy questions and come to me for more information, which makes my job easier. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m not sure, but they could flag anything that would be concerning to me, as it’s very busy in the real estate market right now. We haven’t had any issues to this point, however.

They respond well to both constructive criticism and praise.

We have one person that primarily does the project management that works with someone on our side. They interactively work together weekly to get the posts out. We meet once a month to go over the results, traffic, and speed. It’s an efficient process.

Their team believes that your success is their success. They do want to be in partnership with their clients. In the marketing space, that’s not always the case.

No, nothing that comes to mind. I’m not their typical customer, so from my perspective, there are no material weaknesses.

Make sure that the reporting structure is lined out by you. If you don’t set it up for how it works for your business, the process won’t fit your business.

Their team is always on top of things. Our teams communicate via email and phone calls. We had in-person meetings before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

One time we had put up a post using a vendor’s image, and when they asked us to remove it, I called Eric right away. Even though it was a Friday afternoon, Eric got right on it. They are always responsive and respectful.

They're very accessible and available. I think of WideFoc.us as my extended team, so I email them every day if not every other day. I have a monthly meeting with them every month about the metrics and how our campaigns are going. If there's an emergency, I text the community manager. If things change on their end, Eric gives me a call or sends me an email to inform me about it.

We needed support with social media marketing. We were a pre-revenue company, and we were looking to build brand awareness and visibility.

What was the scope of their involvement?

WideFoc.us Social Media provided email marketing, social media strategy, and execution. The team created an email newsletter, managed our Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts, and drove traffic to our website to get signups for when we brought our product to market. They also did influencer marketing and social advertising on all three platforms and delivered the analytics.

One of the projects we did with them was to launch a book. We wrote a book about cortisol, our first test that would go to market. We did this project to build awareness of our product and sell the book.

Initially, we provided WideFoc.us Social Media with information regarding our company's background, what we did, and the product. We talked about the types of posts we wanted to put out there and how we would get engagement. We also discussed our goals and KPIs.

I met Eric through friends, but I didn't work with him. My organization was looking for a local company with healthtech experience. We needed someone to understand the technology and the analytes we were testing for. We selected WideFoc.us Social Media because they had that experience. We reviewed some samples and liked their writing and editorial backgrounds.

We invested $5,000–$10,000 monthly, depending on the month. We spent double what we spent in the other months when the book project occurred.

With the book launch, we became a number one Amazon bestseller in six categories and drove 1,200% waitlist growth.

How did WideFoc.us Social Media perform from a project management standpoint?

WideFoc.us Social Media delivered on time and within budget. We had weekly meetings and content reviews. The team was responsive to changes and available to us daily if anything came up. WideFoc.us Social Media reviewed the analytics and data monthly with us.

We mostly communicated via Zoom meetings, connected via Slack, and tracked everything using Google Workspace tools. I don't know if WideFoc.us Social Media used other solutions internally.

What did you find most impressive about them?

WideFoc.us Social Media expanded our followers' perspective on our brand to build engagement. We enjoyed how they managed the communities and wildly succeeded in our influencer campaigns. They did a great job with the project's images, videos, and creative side.

The team took the burden off us regarding the creative pressure, did a great job, and churned out products quickly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There was one writer I didn't love, and this person's content wasn't getting us where we wanted, but WideFoc.us Social Media was open to it and made the change.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Get in touch with them. WideFoc.us Social Media is still small and very accessible. They can produce, respond, and act very swiftly. We were budget-constrained and needed somebody to work with us based on our budget. That's one of the big reasons I chose them as well. However, WideFoc.us Social Media knows how different platforms work and how to exploit them.
