The request was to create a website from scratch that conveys who we are and what we offer as a global brand. From the beginning whiz showed empathy with the need of the brand, understanding what we wanted to convey and always being in detail with new suggestions and improvements for the brand and requirements.

The clearest proof of growth in brand awareness is having gone from 7k followers on IG to +30k in a single year.

Immertec is an US startup that provides a platform for intimate peer to peer virtual surgery training that allows surgeons across different specialties to view real-time surgical training events streamed live in virtual reality. As a team, we believe everyone – regardless of physical location – deserves access to quality care.

By allowing surgeons to remotely train in real-time, we’re dissolving the physical barriers that restrict the adoption of modern medical devices and procedures.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We required a few positions with specific skill sets to work on different internal engineering projects. Whiz provided the talent necessary to meet those requirements and they have worked directly with myself and the tech team on each assignment.

Some developers require more training/experience when it comes to working within other companies. It’s an opportunity to ensure they understand how to best integrate into cultures, such as when to attend meetings and communicate effectively with the internal team.

Whiz uses Agile for the development and React for designed modules — our app is tailor-made. It's been designed from scratch, and it's available for Android and iOS. They also integrate our design with our PMS system.

Their communications are excellent; that’s been one of the things I like the most about working with them. Whenever anything comes up, they answer with an organized approach, which helps them meet the deadlines. We talk mainly via Whatsapp and email, and they have a great response time.

They act as a part of our company; I've never felt like I'm working with an external service provider — that has been very important for us.

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Whiz began by documenting our client’s UX to evaluate and find the best choice for us before developing our Android and iOS native app. We wanted the app to enable our customers to review their insurance policies and to view the contact information of account executives, among other things. We also wanted to allow non-clients to view general information and invitations to purchase a policy within our company.

We worked with five people, including a UX designer, a project manager, and 3 developers. 

How did you come to work with Whiz?

They were referred by a friend, so we approached them. After seeing their portfolio, we had a small test project and we liked the results, so we decided to work with them.

We spent 60,000–80,000 Peruvian soles (approximately $14,500–$19,4000 USD).

We worked together from September 2019–February 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our users really liked our app, and they mentioned that they appreciated the fact that it was very neat. On top of that, the colors and the whole visual setup were very practical and easy to use.

How did Whiz perform from a project management standpoint? 

We had some delays in the initial schedule, but they were mostly caused by delays in our own processes. We primarily used email, phone calls, and WhatsApp to communicate, but they also used Slack to communicate within our teams.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would’ve been better if the testing process was part of their package. However, we had to hire and pay that separately.

You should be very clear about your needs and try to focus on that more than the operational details.

During the last couple of years, we have been going through a digital transformation process for some of our brands. Last year, due to the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company decided to start selling directly through digital channels. We started with a Facebook chatbot and created a new website — this year, we began a strategy to analyze our target customers to develop products and digital services to serve them. 

We realized, however, that we still lacked many skills within our team to execute this project. Because of this, we decided to work with an external agency.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve seen a great improvement in performance and data integration. We are now able to work with our analytics and data in a more structured way — we have also improved our payment processing system.

How did Whiz perform from a project management standpoint?

It’s a bit difficult to judge their scheduling, because we haven’t been very strict with deadlines. For instance, we wanted to start work by a certain date but had a relaunching process of our website and were not able to do it until later. Issues like these are very common and happen within every company — Whiz has been very flexible to adapt and adjust the scope and schedule of the project to meet what we need. Going forward, however, I would like to make sure that we adhere to a certain project management methodology, such as Scrum.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What has been most impressive to me about Whiz is their flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes. They really consider the needs of our business, which set them apart from other vendors on the market. In recent years, we have worked with many different partners, and none but Whiz adapted so perfectly to our business leads. They were able to meet everything we had in mind for this technical lead role.

Are there any areas they could improve?

When it came to their workflows and framework, I would have liked to know more about their methodologies. If I had that insight, we might have been able to adapt and streamline our collaboration processes.

We used to publish our own content before Whiz came on, but we didn’t connect with our audience the way we do today. We now have content that generates great value for our target audience. The most evident result we’ve gotten is an increase in our following and engagement rate, and that has a lot to do with Whiz’s work.

Whiz is very good at meeting deadlines. They are also very versatile, able to adapt and respond to any unplanned changes.

The art direction of our monthly campaigns has been very good. Whiz is capable of translating what we want to communicate into an effective campaign.

We did encounter some inconvenience when it came to adapting our schedule. This was during the time when unplanned changes surged. They were able to solve that, however, so that improved very quickly.

Mainly, the perfec actitude that they always been working with us in previous projects. Also, the nice results they promised before and that they could get.

The actitude and the knowledge. Always there is a solution for them. We had many issues with our webs and they helped us a lot to resolve them. They manage platforms that other developers does not manage. We were really glad for that.

Maybe they could start using other platforms to comunicate the progress. Platforms like Clickup or any that could help to organize more the work. Just because is like a trend nowadays with developers and clients.

It was very dynamic and based on our needs, and the needs of the people we wanted to help. We were over zoom most of the time and used a mix of formal and informal (excel) tools to follow up, but everything was well organized!

Maybe help us be more organized to cause less noise to them for the requirements. Finally, they handled that appropriately, but it should be also better for them to prevent it.
