The main goal was to keep developing Mangrove’s visual identity across different media and touchpoints, so the brand could communicate with its audience in a consistent, predictable, and recognisable way. We needed a team that could support us with everything from digital assets and website-related tasks to printed materials, presentations, and event visuals — all while keeping the brand language coherent.

Whale Studio supported us regularly for around two years. During this time, the team worked on a wide range of design tasks, from simple business cards and printed materials to websites, brochures, booklets, presentations, and visual materials for exhibitions and events. The scope included both physical and digital brand assets. The team helped us adapt the visual identity to different formats, production requirements, and communication needs, while keeping everything aligned with the brand platform.

As a result of the collaboration, Mangrove was represented consistently across a broad range of media and communication formats. The brand became easier to recognise across different touchpoints, whether it was a business card, a brochure, a website page, or exhibition materials. For us, the key outcome was having a reliable design partner who could quickly translate business needs into clear, well-structured, and production-ready materials.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What we liked is that Whale Studio brought their own thinking to the table. They came back with a few design directions for the task, asked good questions, and a few times helped us tighten the brief before anything went into production. They were also on top of the technical side, often they'd deal with the printers and production companies directly for us, checking that all the specs, formats, and requirements were right before final delivery.

• We needed a complete brand identity built before we opened. It had to feel warm and a little playful, a family spot and not a sterile concept café, and that personality had to survive on everything from a coffee cup to the signage. And it had to actually stand out. Dubai's food scene blurs together fast, so we wanted a character people would remember.

Whale took us from discovery to a finished brand book. The heart of it was a cast of characters — matryoshka-inspired, pear-shaped little guys — and getting them right was a real back-and-forth across a couple of big rounds. Around that Whale team built a national-pattern motif that turned into a kids' colouring rug, the logo and wordmark where the m and y became the signature move, a pastel palette after we killed the bright green (we landed on latte, matcha, pistachio), a two-typeface system with a properly licensed font, and then all the applications — business cards, packaging, bags, cups, illustrations — pulled together in a brand book. Everything lived in one shared Notion space so we were never hunting for files.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We're not open yet, so I can't give you sales or footfall — but we walked away with a finished, production-ready identity and a brand book we're genuinely proud of. Every deliverable that was meant to ship, shipped, and we're going to launch with a brand that already feels like us instead of a placeholder we'll want to redo in a year.

Weekly Zoom calls, one dedicated PM as our single point of contact, and a status update every Friday so we always knew exactly where things stood — all run through a Notion workspace. Roughly a three-month timeline and they held it.

We gave a lot of detailed feedback, and each round came back sharper and closer to what we'd pictured — without anything getting lost along the way. They also brought their own ideas to the table rather than just executing ours. It read as a team that was genuinely invested in the brand.

Bazari Orbeliani is a gastronomic and multifunctional space in the historic centre of Tbilisi. It combines a modern food hall, market-style food concepts, restaurants, cafés, bars, and event formats in one location, bringing together local residents, tourists, food brands, and cultural experiences.

What specific goals or objectives did you hire Whale Studio to accomplish?

• We already had an existing brand book, and our goal was to translate it into a refreshed visual communication system for social media. We needed Bazari Orbeliani to speak to its audience in a more consistent, modern, and recognisable visual language across Instagram and other digital touchpoints. The task was not to redesign the brand from scratch, but to create a practical social media system: templates, layout principles, photo style, and content logic that could be reused by the team on a regular basis.

Whale Studio developed a complete set of reusable social media templates in various formats and content categories. The templates covered a wide range of communication needs, from regular posts and announcements to reposts, event-related content, expert formats, and podcast-style communications. The team also developed a visual grid system showing how different materials could be combined in the feed, so the social media presence would look structured and lively without becoming visually noisy. In practice, the project met the main visual needs of outgoing social media materials and provided our team with a flexible system for everyday communication.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As a result, Bazari Orbeliani began communicating in a clearer, more recognisable visual language. The Instagram feed became more structured, noticeable, and easier to navigate, while still leaving enough flexibility for different content formats. The updated system helped make the brand’s social media presence feel more consistent, more active, and more connected to the space's atmosphere. It also gave the internal team a practical toolkit they could reuse without having to design every post from scratch.
