the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the tech lead at OrthoMinds, a practice management software (PMS) for orthodontics. We have around 70 clients and 400–500 users.
What challenge were you trying to address with WestonDev?
There wasn’t an app process for the orthodontic world, we’re the first product. We needed someone to help us.
What was the scope of their involvement?
WestonDev developed three apps for us. The first web app they developed is for insurance verification. The second app is the patient-facing mobile app and the third app is the doctor-facing mobile app. They used React, Node.js, and Firebase. The team built iOS and Android versions of the mobile apps. Phase one has been completed. Phase two will be done soon and phase three will be done by May.
What is the team composition?
I worked with Alex (Co-Owner) and Kenneth (Co-Founder). There were 4-5 developers on their side.
How did you come to work with WestonDev?
One of our partners knew of WestonDev and recommended them. During the requirements gathering, they asked the right question so we decided to work ith them. Once the requirements were clear, we touched base with them and they showed us a demo of whatever they developed.
Then we pitched in our thoughts of what it should be and shouldn’t be. They are super skillful and know what they’re doing. They were able to visualize the product and were asking the right questions. They were very engaged.
How much have you invested with them?
We have invested $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in April 2020 and it's ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They have quality engineers and the product was an A+. Every iteration they released required very minimal rework. They’re very good.
How did WestonDev perform from a project management standpoint?
Their delivery was on time. Sometimes we brought in more requirements and it’d impact the timeline. They wouldn’t say no and they’d let us make the decision. We didn’t use a project management tool but held video calls via Zoom.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The quality of their work and the on-time delivery are impressive.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, we received what we wanted on time.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
It’s best to have your requirements before you get started in order to stick with deadlines rather than adding new requirements along the way. They will work with you and give you enough information for you to make the decision.

Masingo is one of the most popular brands of karaoke machines sold on the market, and it was looking for an app to supplement its karaoke experience. To offer an app truly unique to the competition, all of the songs on the app needed to be accompanied with their music videos, and the user must be able to instantly turn vocals on/off with no delay to the music video being played.

KOVA creates and curates adaptable building solutions that deliver superior value, outstanding performance, and predictable outcomes to a swiftly changing world. I am the Director of Marketing
For what projects/services did your company hire WestonDev, and what were your goals?
In standing up our first CRM via Zoho, we needed custom development to help the team manage multiple stages, variables and types of inbound product and project leads. WestonDev helped overcome multiple hurdles in standing up our CRM.
They also, importantly, helped us create a custom API integration that helped us stand up product data directly to our website. This same tool helps us capture inbound RFQ detail. It has been a game changer for us.
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We had originally sourced another vendor, but we quickly found that they were not able to capture the nature of our work or the necessary scope. WestonDev came recommended to us, and their ability to help us understand future functionality that we would need -- before we even envisioned it.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
WestonDev supported us to help scope, breakdown, project manage, develop, and onboard the team - they also supported us in the months following the scope of work with problem solving, optimization, and support.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We selected this vendor based on their prior knowledge and expertise.

They developed a docusign app within our CRM. Data from Zoho CRM was pushed into forms chosen by our clients. Clients have the ability to choose which forms they need and create and save bundles. The forms are then sent out to their clients. Once the forms are sent a Service item is created for everyone to track the progress of that Docusign envelope. Please describe your company and your position there.
We are a corporate event planning company that specializes in full service event production & execution for both virtual and in person experiences. I am the co-founder & CEO.
For what projects/services did your company hire WestonDev, and what were your goals?
We needed a way to streamline our booking process to make it easier to close a higher volume of deals. In addition we needed to be able to better run reports on company data as well as track our team's progress and & sales goals.
How did you select WestonDev and what were the deciding factors?
We selected WestonDev because of their problem-solving knowledge and how hands on and personable their approach is. They took the time to really understand our business, industry and processes so that they could present solutions that were in line with our needs all while speaking our language.
We truly felt like we were given VIP treatment and were fully supported throughout the entire process and beyond!
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Full integration of lead, customer, virtual event and physical event space information into Zoho CRM. Wix website form submission automatically integrated with Zoho CRM fully integrate PandaDoc with Zoho CRM to dynamically generate pre-populated proposals for easy review and one click sending.
Interactive training session to acclimate employees with new CRM workflows. Custom Dashboards and Reporting highlighting key activity, forecasting and auto tracking sales goals.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
We had one main project manager and 2 additional developers who supported us with backend coding, integration & data migration.
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
Having this fully integrated CRM has been monumental to our company's productivity and performance. We now have more insight into our company goals, forecasts and overall data than we have ever had before.
It used to take us hours to piece together reports with data that was tracked across dozens of different spreadsheets over the span of 5 years. Now I can run a report that gets me exactly what I need with the click of a button.
I have never felt more knowledgeable or had a better grasp on our business scope than I do now.
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.
Their response time and attentiveness is second to none. Even though we ultimately had 3 points of contact overall, they were always in sync with one another.
We never had to repeat ourselves or follow up on any pending items because they did a phenomenal job of taking notes and keep track of deadlines/deliverables.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The time they took to get to know how we operate and really learn the exact terms & references we use was outstanding. They truly spoke our language which made it so much easier for us to understand and adapt to the new CRM and workflows.
It was as if they were an extension of our team and invested in our success just as much as we are.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Honestly I can't think of one.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I own Strong Asset Tags and we print barcode labels, asset tags, QR code tags and labels.
For what projects/services did your company hire WestonDev?
We are a fast growing company and needed help growing our CRM to fit our needs. The CRM that we use is very robust but their support is terribly lacking, so we hired Weston DEV to configure it the way we wanted.
What were your goals for this project?
Have everything accessible from one part of the CRM and have a list of orders to show current stages. Overall to utilize more features of the CRM and design a system that would be custom fit for our needs.
How did you select WestonDev?
I researched a dozen companies and WestonDev was very responsive, knew what they were doing, had impressive and credible referrals, and pricing was affordable.
Describe the project in detail.
WestonDev understood what we needed after a couple hours of onboarding so it was easy to work with them. New modules were introduced in detail and their meticulous notes and record keeping kept the project moving instead of having to keep going over the same material.
What was the team composition?
Several team members here are able to perform their tasks more efficiently. The team at WestonDev is impressive.
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
After the project was finished the first thing I thought of was Clark Griswald in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Remember when he put that spray on the bottom of the sled and then took off like a rocket?
That's what WestonDev has done for us. All of the confusion is gone, everything is organized, it takes a fraction of the time to do the same tasks as in the past. At times it seemed like we were spinning plates and a few were crashing, but now nothing is spinning except the new orders coming in.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
They are very good at staying organized and staying on point. They knew what position we were in and where we wanted to go, and then did it. Most other companies have difficulty accomplishing this.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
Everything. Over the years I have used over a dozen web designers, CRM "specialists" and everything in between and they all talk a good game, never complete a project on time, and never completed a project as promised. WestonDev stood out because they did what they said they were going to do, on time, at the right price. I told them that this was the first time that has ever happened to us.
Are there any areas for improvement?
None that I am aware of at this time.

Custom Software Development for Cruise Line
"Whenever we faced any issues, WestonDev quickly came up with creative solutions."
the reviewer
the review
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CIO, business analyst, and marketing consultant at Victory Casino Cruises, a cruise line.
What challenge were you trying to address with WestonDev?
We needed someone to help us create in-house text messaging capabilities. Unfortunately, we found third-party SMS programs to be too expensive.
What was the scope of their involvement?
The key deliverable WestonDev produced was a platform that could securely house our customer database, allow us to conduct customer segmentation, and deliver text messages. The team built it using ZohoCRM and set up multiple carriers for us to use. Furthermore, they developed several APIs to help us feed the database on our own. It also had a reporting system that allowed us to check if people were reading our messages.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Kenneth and Alex (Co-Founders).
How did you come to work with WestonDev?
We found several agencies in our area and interviewed all of them. When we interviewed WestonDev, the team surprised us with their intelligence. They also had good references, so we decided to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
The total cost was less than $30,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from September–December 2020. We plan on working with them on another project soon.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They ensured that the program was functional while also being easy to use and flexible, allowing our internal team to use it without further assistance. Thanks to the WestonDev team, we were able to create in-house SMS capabilities. Furthermore, we saved a considerable amount on costs while delivering the same number of texts we always did. The reporting system they integrated into the platform also gave us an idea of which messages our customers were more interested in.
How did WestonDev perform from a project management standpoint?
WestonDev hit every single one of their deadlines. We insisted on having weekly reports, and the team was accommodating and never missed a call. Additionally, they were always prepared with documentation — their organizational skills allowed us to move forward each week successfully. They met every expectation we had and then some.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Surprisingly, the price they offered was very reasonable. The team was incredibly responsive, efficient, and flexible — whenever we faced any issues, WestonDev quickly came up with creative solutions. We were very impressed at how in tune they were with our needs.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We would’ve liked them to provide web maintenance, but they weren’t interested in a maintenance agreement. They also didn’t have enough graphic capabilities. However, we ultimately understood why they didn’t offer those services and appreciated their honesty.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Tell them precisely what you want upfront. Additionally, think of any problems you may encounter to help you prepare for them.
While the project is ongoing, the results thus far have exceeded the expectations of the internal team. Although the iterations required some rework, WestonDev consistently produces high-quality apps. The team delivers on time and communicates effectively with the client.
