I’m the business principal at Bop Design. We are a B2B marketing agency that works with companies on website design, content marketing, and branding.

What challenge were you trying to address with Wertz & Company, LLP?

We needed someone to handle our finances, from bookkeeping to tax planning and filing.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wertz & Company has acted as a strategic partner for us. They’re in charge of cash flow management, bookkeeping, and tax services. Their team handles our corporate and personal taxes. Additionally, they’ve advised us on our pricing, AR/AP, and the best policies for small businesses. 

What is the team composition?

Katie (Partner and Tax Principal) is our main point of contact. There have been others who assisted her, but it is nice to have continuity with her. 

How did you come to work with Wertz & Company, LLP?

In late 2012, we decided we wanted to work with a full-service provider. Previously, we were working with several different vendors that each took care of one service.

We realized it would be much easier to consolidate all that work with one vendor. Additionally, we wanted to apply for a business loan, but we didn’t have the expertise to do so. 

They put together a proposal and it was very easy to understand, so we chose to move forward with them. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spend about $15,000 per year or about $105,000 in total. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in November 2012, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve helped us understand where our money is coming from, and implement better cost-saving measures. They’ve also saved us about 30-40 hours per month since they’re able to work more efficiently and have implemented several tools to automate processes. 

How did Wertz & Company, LLP perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve stayed ahead of the game, especially with taxes. In October, they start to get things lined up so we’re ready when the filing deadline comes up in April. They answer our emails within a day and are proactive about following up. They’re very responsive. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They understand all facets of our business and have a holistic approach. They’ve acted as general business advisors on many occasions. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes, they get a little stuck in their own jargon. It would be helpful to put their explanations in layperson’s terms so clients can better understand their work.  

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Talk to them about what they can do beyond their core services and how they can be a strategic partner long-term. It could also be helpful to ask them for case studies from your industry to see what they can do.
