BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m an assistant director at a diamond manufacturer based in Surat, India. We have a factory and a trading office in Surat, and we also have offices in Mumbai and Hong Kong. We import rough diamonds and export finished diamonds.

What challenge were you trying to address with Weingenious Technocrats LLP?

We were developing a management platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Weingenious developed an internal desktop solution covering our manufacturing process, inventory management, and employee attendance. The reporting system is web-based. The platform was built on .NET, with an SQL server. They’re also now building an e-commerce portal for us where people can buy real diamonds online.

They created two versions of the desktop application. They created screen diagrams based on discussions we had with them. Their team worked daily on one version and they pushed updates on the other version, which was accessible to my team. That way, we were always able to see what the team was working on and whether development was going in the right direction or not.

What is the team composition?

Weingenious assigned two people to visit our factory. I believe there was a team of 4–5 resources at their office, who communicated with the two on-site members in order to build our solution.

How did you come to work with Weingenious Technocrats LLP?

There are very few companies that have experiential knowledge about building end-to-end solutions for this kind of industry. We’d heard good things about Weingenious Technocrats LLP from some of our business contacts, so we met Ketan (Co-Founder, Weingenious Technocrats LLP) and his team.

During a discussion with them, we explained the business process and business flow we wanted to achieve. We shared our concerns and expectations with them, and they were able to understand those and give suggestions immediately. That gave us confidence in Weingenious Technocrats LLP as a team to build a solution for us.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $90,000 on the initial development. We’ve spent $30,000–$40,000 on other projects with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We met them at the end of 2016 and started the actual development at the beginning of 2017. We received the final delivery in October 2018. We currently have an ongoing collaboration for maintaining and developing new functionalities.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

In our industry, if someone has a reputation for delivering good quality, that will reveal itself. We received very good feedback about Weingenious from former customers and our business contacts. There weren’t many companies that could deliver that kind of quality. Weingenious Technocrats LLP has worked with some well-known US companies. They had a good reputation, and they always delivered as per our expectations.

How did Weingenious Technocrats LLP perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve had to change our requirements based on industry needs, and they were always flexible to this. We used Skype, WhatsApp, phone calls, and email for communication. Whenever they delivered work to our team, the person who verified the work signed the reports. We had daily communication to explain to them how our business works and what our workers’ expectations are.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It’s the personalized service—the way they come up with suggestions and the way they understand the entire business. It’s very difficult to find people who understand business aspects and have technical knowledge. We’ve worked with a few engineers over time, and we’d have to spend months and months explaining our business process for them to build a solution for us.

Because of their tremendous business knowledge, it’s become very easy for us to discuss any ideas with them. Most of the time, they come up with suggestions and ideas, and we decide whether we want to do them. That’s something we haven’t found in other teams.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re pretty satisfied with the way things have gone. We wish we could define requirements in a more precise way so that we could both better understand the time and budget required. We can’t really blame them for this; we work in a very complex industry where things are changing daily. We can’t define a specific timeline or budget, and that makes things very difficult. They’ve done a good job handling everything.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

If Weingenious Technocrats LLP commits to something, they’ll definitely deliver. My only advice to other clients is to have faith in them. They will definitely impress with their skills and personalized service.
