I’m a technical advisor for GIZ, the German Development Agency in Nigeria. I work for the program Migration for Development, where we focus on developing skills for the young and vulnerable population in the country. We aim to increase their employability by developing their Information and Communications Technology (ICT) skills.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Weevil Company?

We needed to train our program beneficiaries — about 400 young people — in cyber security, graphic design, web development, programming, and data science in four weeks.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Weevil Company came up with everything, including the training material. Initially, we required them to have access to a training facility and a standardized curriculum that they could share with us. They did the training sessions physically in classrooms, and we catered for the transportation costs of the participants throughout the engagement. Each class had an average of 50 participants per session for the entire four weeks.

What is the team composition?

We had 12–15 team members working on this project, including eight facilitators and five people from the administrative staff. The CEO was our main point of contact.

How did you come to work with Weevil Company?

We found them online. They were included among seven companies who summited proposals for this project. We selected the Weevil Company based on previous trainings they’d done.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent at least €100,000 (approximately $100,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement lasted from August–September 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We had an internal monitoring and evaluation tool to check if students got internships with organizations at the end of the training. Moreover, one of our key metrics was to achieve 75%–100% attendance. We usually have a high dropout rate because four weeks is a long time. However, Weevil Company achieved about 98% attendance across all classes.

In 3–6 months from now, we’ll go back to the students to check how Weevil Company’s knowledge has impacted them in terms of employability.

How did Weevil Company perform from a project management standpoint?

They performed well. Communication was typically through Microsoft Teams, phone calls, and emails.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They had access to the infrastructure we needed for our participants. Thanks to their organizational skills, we were able to train 400 people simultaneously — this is the first time we’ve accomplished that since the inception of our program.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could expand their business. In the future, we want to train 4,000–5,000 people at once.

I’m the fund accountant of an asset management firm. We deal with different portfolios of clients and different investments.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We first had a meeting with Weevil Company to discuss our existing processing and what we intended to do. From there, they developed software that allowed us to automate our withdrawals and evaluations. Initially, we were doing evaluations and withdrawals from client portfolios manually. Their team also came up with a dashboard and samples that we tested. After deploying the software, we finalized some things afterwards.

We were talking with two people from their company, but they had other people working on the project behind the scenes.

They were recommended to us by a colleague.

We spent close to $40,000 on this project.

What is the status of the engagement?

We worked together on this project from January–November 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were happy and satisfied with their services. The software they built allowed us to automate our system, improve our customer service, and reduce our turnaround time drastically. Also, the software continues to work smoothly.

How did Weevil Company perform from a project management standpoint?

They delivered tasks on time, and all of our complaints were attended to. Whenever we experienced crashes, they were very prompt in dealing with them. We communicated with them via Zoom most of the time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They always listened to our needs. Moreover, they brought up their own ideas and found ways to meet in the middle whenever our ideas clashed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re very good at their work, but they should use the latest technologies for development because it will give them more room to improvise and do more stuff.

Any advice for potential customers?

Have an open mind and always be willing to learn. Also, don't try to push things your way — be willing to listen, calm, and respectful when engaging with them because there will be a lot of back and forth.

We needed help with software development and ERP consulting.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They offer ERP consulting.Their team has also helped design our website and create software for vendor invoicing. They built the system so I can go into my website, find my vendors, see their payments and anything outstanding. They worked to make the site user-friendly and easy to navigate.

What is the team composition?

There are six people on the team, with one point of contact.

How did you come to work with Weevil Company?

They were recommended by a friend who said they did a fantastic and cost-effective project for him. I felt I could benefit from using them because they’re a very technical and innovative company that would be perfect in making our company transition to the digital platform. With the way everything is now, it’s good to be on the cloud, so I thought they’d be helpful with that.

How much have you invested with them?

Our overall investment comes to about $8,800.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2020 and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It allows me to go into my website, find my vendors, know the amount that they paid and the amount that’s outstanding. The team also created a website that was very user friendly and easy to navigate through.

They did exactly what they were supposed to do, creating solutions that made my business more efficient in terms of invoices and payments and their work is satisfactory. They created the vendor invoice management system that helps my business function internally and gives me more awareness. 

How did Weevil Company perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is good. They sent me a list from the beginning of the project that enabled me to know exactly what projects were beginning and what was ending.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They pay attention to detail, giving the customer exactly what they want, and servicing each client depending on their personality or company culture.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could communicate a bit more with their clients.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You should work with them because they will definitely deliver whatever you’re requesting. They’re the right company as long as you’re open and transparent with them.

I’m a marketing professional for a financial institution.

What challenge were you trying to address with Weevil Company?

We were looking for marketing assistance. We needed to improve sales and also designate our target audiences.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They helped us to uncover many insights from our data leak. We have a lot of unstructured data. They dissected and scrutinized the data and categorized it according to age groups, current students, people looking for mortgages, and people looking for loans. 

We were able to structure our marketing angles and topics to be more specific for different audiences. 

What is the team composition?

We worked with four data scientists.

How did you come to work with Weevil Company?

They were referred to us by some partners that worked with them before.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from June–August 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve had a great impact on our business. Previously, our marketing wasn’t targeting specific people. After we engaged Weevil Company, we now know what kind of ads to send out on a weekly basis, a monthly basis, and what to send in our email newsletters. Our sales have gone up. They did well.

How did Weevil Company perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was professional. We kept track of most of the B2B activities through our in-house monitoring and evaluation committee. That committee saw all the steps and processes of the engagement. They told me it was very professional.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very good with data analytics. Also, their product development applications are nice and agile.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only problem we had with them was timing. Sometimes they have too many engagements and they didn’t always get to the meetings on time, but they didn’t leave us hanging. They would be about 10–20 minutes late. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be open to talking about your problems so that you can harmonize and work with them. Trust the timelines and deliverables you lay out. They always keep their word. It’s a very agile and well-structured tech company.

I’m the solutions specialist at a cloud solutions organization. I specialize in the government and education sectors.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Weevil Company?

The key challenge was before COVID-19. We needed help with digital transformation for schools and mostly K-12 schools in Lagos. There were a lot of gaps between government schools and privately-owned schools. Our mission was to bridge this gap in terms of setting up trainings and processes that will bridge the gap and make them ready for live school.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We were going to engage governments in this solution. We entered into a co-partnership with Weevil Company. We came in from a training standpoint and we had some of the relationships with the state government. We leveraged both relationships and their expertise around the hardware to deliver these solutions. Most of the training we did was based on Microsoft solutions.

What is the team composition?

There were 5–8 people.

How did you come to work with Weevil Company?

We found out about them through Microsoft.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in April 2019, and we wrapped up in September 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our overall overview of the impact has been enormous. They’ve been a very resourceful organization in this project. On a scale of 1–10, I’d give them an 8 or 9. The end results were great.

There were several departments in the state that we had to showcase what we were giving to the state. It was a “wow” to them from the state governor to the deputy governor to the commissioner of education. They were all amazed at the level of engagement we had with them. The customers were satisfied with the engagement so far. 

How did Weevil Company perform from a project management standpoint?

We had parts organized on our side and parts managed by them. The parts being managed by them, they had their own process that they put in place. There were glitches here and there on both ends but aside from that, they did fairly well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

For every business relationship, there’s going to be some downsides, pros, and cons. In parts where they had shortcomings, they actually tried to make up for that. When I realized how far they were coming from to travel to our office, I realized we need to give them ample time to meet up with us. They managed everything well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s no downside to working with them. If I was going to point out anything, it’d be business processes. They have some business processes in place but they could do it a bit better in terms of how well they implement most of it.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to be straightforward.
