The main scope of work was to help us configure docker, nginx, firewall settings and DNS settings to deploy the product.

I'm a director at a career institute that is one of the largest education companies in India. We have around 500,000 students who study with us and prepare for the admission exams in the fields of engineering and medical sciences for graduation colleges. Admission exams are a big deal in India because universities have limited spaces. Our company is 30 years old and has a $400 million revenue.

Our technology division is pretty new, and a lot of the team-building has happened in Bengaluru over the course of last year. We're trying to digitize the experience of our students studying in physical classrooms and build a new solution for students who like to study completely online. We're happy with Wednesday Solutions' work results and execution timelines. The feedback from our students has been positive, and it's reflected in our app ratings. Some of the team's work has been on students' mental wellbeing, which is extremely important. We understand students are stressed when preparing academically and spending two years with us. We need to take action to ease the mental stress students go through. 

Some solutions delivered by Wednesday Solutions are helping us achieve de-stress systems and giving more avenues for students to speak up and get mentorship. Students can take nonacademic breaks and access tools to build a better mindset.

In the beginning, there was some back-and-forth because our teams were new to collaborating with each other and were trying to understand their ways of working. I consider this natural. Mohammed is a great leader who displays great clarity of thought when he speaks. He grasps our context well and quickly. He's adaptive to the ecosystem where he's building, and his skill set is very good, delivering high-level solutions.

Wednesday Solutions' ownership is extremely high and works as if this was their project. I also like that there is a lot of involvement from the founder, who takes a keen interest in our projects and delivers tasks. Wednesday Solutions offers personal attention and has very high work ownership.

Wednesday Solutions can come up with a model where they spend more physical time with their partnering team. We're based in Bengaluru, and the team is based in Pune. The scope of work is to build an entire web-app that supports a copyrighting user-journey and a marketplace for transactions. The project is planned as 2 week sprints that complete certain feature sets in each stint. We have created an audit trail of all actions on the website, a legally binding offer mechanism, a marketplace for stories to be bought and sold, and will be doing a lot more - community pages, messaging systems, feeds, etc.

The best thing about Wednesday is that they don't overcomplicate things. It is also a dynamic team depending on my projects requirements month-on-month. On average, there are 5 team members - a project lead, a senior software developer, 2 software developers, and a senior designer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We are on track to get to the MVP of this project in just 4 months. I have made numerous changes to the project since Day 0 and the team has swiftly incorporated these changes into the product. They work really fluidly and are great at ways to find simpler solutions to complex problems. The current product is well beyond my expectations.

This is probably Wednesday's biggest plus point. We have a dedicated Slack workplace and internally they use gant charts on Jira to keep track of timelines. We have had almost no delays as compared to the plan and all issues and problems are communicated very openly. The project management style is an agile method that is really useful.

The most impressive and unique thing about Wednesday was their ability to grasp exactly what we need, and the developers' ability to give us suggestions on how to make our product better. They come with such high-level experience, that even before going to market, we've already made many changes to make the product better.

Not at all, the project has been absolutely well-delivered since day 0 and so far I can't think of anything to be done differently.

At the beginning of the project, we set a high benchmark for software development skills and expertise. Wednesday Solutions has not only followed our quality and delivery standards, but they’ve also pushed boundaries to move the project forward. 

We’ve distributed the rewritten version of the app internally, but we plan to launch it publicly in the foreseeable future.

How did Wednesday Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

Wednesday Solutions isn’t involved in our day-to-day project management process because we’ve integrated their engineers with our internal team. Having said that, the resources from Wednesday Solutions have delivered items ahead of schedule and according to our standards. We’ve faced a few hurdles, but nothing major.

We use Asana and Jira to manage the project, and the resources follow our internal process to share progress updates regarding deliverables.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed with their desire to exceed expectations rather than just follow orders. They go out of their way to improve our engineering standards, which sets them apart. They want to find meaning in their work while respecting our delivery timelines.

I’m an HSBC corporate banker and I have created two startups: a hedging services startup and a personal finance management startup. We raised our seed funding and ran the second company for almost five and a half years before selling it to an investing, non-banking finance company. 

I’m now working on Buildd, a Banking as a Service platform. We deal with embedded finance and vertical Fin-SaaS modules. I’m the founder and CEO.

We needed to develop a placeholder website and a prototype.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Wednesday Solutions developed our initial prototype and a full-fledged website. They also built out an API stack, the core engine that we would develop on the API staging side. We began by exchanging a working document. This included the main components of the prototype, the user flow, and the list of companies that would be connected to the platform.

Both their team and ours then had a brainstorming session where we drafted the initial proof of concept (POC). They also helped us with the architecture and design. It was a collaborative process. We did the prototyping and it’s been live for the last six months.

Our current strategy as a company is to run any new product and innovation through a POC with Wednesday Solutions and stabilize the product. Once stabilized, the product will be handed over to our core team, who will make sure the machine runs and takes backend support from Wednesday Solutions. Anything new that needs to be dealt with quickly is something that Wednesday Solutions will help us out with.

This process is ongoing and we’re in a state of continuous development. All the milestones that have been promised are being delivered by Wednesday Solutions. They score very well in terms of the scalability, stability, and security of what they build. 

The prototype is only available for certain clients, and our partners tell us that everything works, with downtimes being managed in a sequenced manner. The partners are very happy with the product.

How did Wednesday Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

Wednesday Solution’s team is very methodical in their approach. They have a unique style of working. We are all on a common Slack channel, which has the engineering and design channels integrated into it. Wednesday Solutions has also opened a GitHub library and a GitHub account for us. 

As per our contract, everything is going to be built and then handed over to us along with the documentation, which is what they have been periodically doing. This collaborative approach gives us 100% transparency on what is happening on a daily and hourly basis. We feel like they are an extension of our team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their in-depth knowledge of technology and software is impressive. They never stray from the fundamentals of building a software stack, and they always make sure to think through and document every step.

Their understanding of architecture is also very high. I've worked with Google teams and Motorola teams, and Wednesday Solutions at their level. Their approach to software development is among the best in the industry.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could negotiate more in terms of setting deadlines. They tend to always agree with their clients, which is good for us, but it causes them to take on a lot of work and push themselves really hard. This practice might hurt them in the long run. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a very thorough technical person on your side who understands their language and allow that person to interface with Wednesday Solutions on a daily basis. The team will take care of the rest if they can communicate with someone who comes from a tech background.
