Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m one of the founders of Bukr, a book rental platform. We operate in India, and we now deal with physical book rental as well.
What challenge were you trying to address with Webninjaz LLC?
We had a product idea in mind. We wanted to have a 10,000-book catalog. Some of them would be at our warehouse, and others would be with other seller warehouses. The books would be available in a city-specific manner, and there would be different suppliers for different cities.
We needed a complicated, hyper-local, niche website and backend, but we didn’t have a tech background.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Webninjaz developed the backend and designed the frontend for our website. They helped us with the seller portal and its sensor and did payment and delivery integrations with multiple partners. A few delivery partners are available in India who have their own API, so Webninjaz integrated those into our website.
Additionally, they helped us with WhatsApp API integration for chat support and SMS integration with Google Console. There’ll be a wallet integration so customers can return books if they feel like it. Webninjaz also set up our email, server, and the bulk update of the catalog.
For development, we gave them a sketch of how the landing page should look and the options we needed on each page. Then, they created a UI/UX framework for that. They used WooCommerce, WordPress, and plugins to create the basic website. They also used Terra Wallet and some Google and Facebook APIs.
The first part of the project was completed in April 2020. We did more changes here and there, but we put the project on hold because of the lockdown. Finally, we rolled out the project in June 2021. We’re in constant touch, and any time we need an upgrade in the system, we reach out to them.
What is the team composition?
We had one contact person. On the tech side, 2–3 people were always on call. One was working for the database and backend, and another one was working on the frontend design. There was one more team lead on the calls.
How did you come to work with Webninjaz LLC?
A friend referred them to me. I told them that I didn’t have much money or time to invest because I worked another job and couldn’t give more than 1–2 hours a day. I saw one of the websites they’d created, and I liked it.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $8,000, and we pay them on an hourly basis if we need upgrades.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from January 2020–June 2021.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve completed around 1,200 orders to date, and we’re growing steadily. We haven’t faced any challenges, and there aren’t any operational issues or glitches.
How did Webninjaz LLC perform from a project management standpoint?
We had a meeting for updates every 10–15 days. Since they knew we weren’t tech-savvy, they mainly showed us the website frontend. As the different pages were completed, they shared the link and asked us to do testing to ensure the module or customer journey was completed. Then, we shared the feedback with them.
We communicated a lot through Slack during development. Now, we contact them on WhatsApp when we face any issues.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They had the resources available and a decent experience working with small startups. Moreover, they were good at working with people who weren’t tech-savvy, such as me.
Additionally, we sometimes changed our requirements, and they were patient with all of that.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The timeline could have improved, but any issue was primarily due to COVID-19 — although there wasn’t any urgency on either side. Other than that, the work was excellent and within budget. Webninjaz followed the product delivery and had a good, young team that was always available.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
For anyone working on a project like this for the first time, I suggest researching and coming up with the exact features you’d like to have. It’ll save a lot of time and iterations.
On the other hand, they’re great for e-commerce, and they work on all available technologies. Also, language isn’t an issue with them.

We were looking for a development firm that could build a really good website at an affordable rate, so we hired Webninjaz.
What was the scope of their involvement?
Webninjaz provided development and design services, overseeing frontend development as well as theme customization on Shopify. We decided on most of the designs and had Webninjaz set these into the website.
Webninjaz built several customer journeys, one of which is a loyalty program flow with a very complex process involving rewards points and a subscription model. The website sold a lot of packaged snacks, so the team also developed complex workflows within the shopping site along with a kitting module. They also did some API coding to connect our email marketing channels and conducted QA engineering.
