I wanted an e-commerce website to sell my clothers.

My goal was to reach more customers through a website. I have a physical store, but wanted to sell more by putting my business online.

I found them on LinkedIn while looking for a company with a reputation for reliability and trustworthiness. I looked at their reviews on Google and Clutch, then reviewed their website. That gave me confidence, so I contacted them, and they convinced me to give them my project.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

They designed inventory, store, and customer management systems. The website incorporates ordering, shipping, and payment processing. It also hosts a newsletter and blog. 

What was the team composition?

Five team members worked on my project: a project manager, a UI/UX expert, two developers, and one QA specialist. The project manager was my only point of contact, which made my life easy.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The website has helped me increase sales by 10% so far. Since my business is online for the first time, it will take a while to see more sales.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

My project manager shared updates with me every other day. Every weekend, we had a joint call to review their progress on staging the server.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I appreciated their reliability. They went above and beyond to advise me about best practices. Since I was new to the website industry, I didn't know much about e-commerce and payment processing. Their honest advice taught me a lot about how my website works.

I'm an entrepreneur trying to build and sell a mobile app. It's just me at this point.

What business challenge were you trying to address with Weblineindia?

I had the idea for the app, but could not actually develop the software for it. That was the challenge – the actual development of the app. I needed to find someone with the technical skills necessary to make my idea a reality.

I came to Weblineindia with the concept for the app, but that's it. The scope involved coming up with the visuals, color scheme, and the user interface. It also included the functional development, implementation, and testing. 

How did you come to work with Weblineindia?

My sister used them on a similar but smaller project beforehand and that led her to recommend them to me. 

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

It was slightly less than $10,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We officially agreed upon the terms of engagement in March 2015. Webline then started the project and completed the work in September 2015. However, we had some trouble getting the app approved by Apple, which added two to three months to the deployment timeline.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

We have had almost 100 downloads. The app requires creation of profiles and stats suggest each user is on average creating at least two profiles, which is a promising trend. The app itself works well for the specs given. However, what we have right now is very much an MVP [minimum viable product]. We'll be undertaking more work once we collect enough use feedback to so what we can improve and resolve. 

I believe many more downloads could be achieved and will be achieved with further improvements to the app – which have been identified from the feedback gleaned from the user experiences to date. The limitation right now has more to do with my own resources than Webline's performance or demonstrated skills. 

What distinguishes Weblineindia from other providers?

I don't have a base for comparison. However, I found them very professional, patient, and accommodating to my needs. For example, they let me pay them using the TransferWise app, which was very flexible of them. They were very helpful and able to make thoughtful suggestions and very good at email correspondence in clarifying review points of mine. They offer a broad spectrum of skill sets, too – from design and development to testing and post-launch bug fixes.

With the nature of projects like these, there are milestones and, sometimes, the team has to work hard to pull the work together to achieve a milestone and make a submission to the client, and they were strong at this – I knew there were some long, hard hours worked – and I appreciated their efforts.

In hindsight, are there areas in which they could improve or things you might do differently?

My one regret was that a lot of time was spent on one area of logic – the parents flow – and I think this was unnecessary in hindsight. To be clear, Webline has delivered on the scope I set out. However, they helped me build an app with some user-facing oversights. The fault here is also mine – as I was struggling to visualize the end product myself and, therefore, I had some unrealistic and even inaccurate requirements.

Our objective was to reach patients, clients, and general users who are interested in our app for healthcare purposes. We needed a team that would help us design and build the app.

Weblineindia is very communicative and has helped us with all aspects of the app, including general design ideas and wireframing. This was important to us because we didn't have to hire a design firm separately.

How did you come to work with Weblineindia?

I hired a previous company who worked on the first version of our app for us. It wasn't great and was in need of many improvements. I was referred to Weblineindia and looked at different projects they'd worked on in the past. I contacted them about our current project and felt confident in hiring them after a couple of discussions.

The total development cost for the project has been between $10-50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working with Weblineindia since the initiation of our project, five years ago. The work is ongoing.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

We're definitely satisfied with Webline India's work. They rebuilt our original app, improving it significantly. Our sales increased as a result, and we've had significantly fewer bugs on the new version.

I get a lot more compliments on the app store, and fewer complaints from clients and people who purchase the app.

How did Weblineindia perform from a project management standpoint?

The process of working with their team has been much smoother than what it was with our previous company. Some people may be hesitant in hiring a company from another country because of possible language barriers. I've had no problems with that. Weblineindia is very thorough and communicative, even more so than what I've experienced with local partners. We communicate frequently through Skype and they always make sure that I'm getting what I want.

What distinguishes Weblineindia from other providers?

They've assigned a project manager to us, and all of our communication has been done through that person. It has streamlined our work process.

Is there anything Weblineindia could have improved or done differently?

When I first started working with them, I was the one to suggest many of our contract's details. Since that time, Weblineindia has come to speed with these issues and has become the ones to draft contract details like non-compete clauses, instead of vice versa. In the last few years, they've become a more professional company, dotting their i's and crossing their t's.

Overall, my experience with WeblineIndia was very positive.
If I had to suggest an area for improvement, it would be slightly enhancing the initial project scoping phase , spending a little more time upfront on detailed requirement gathering could have helped streamline a few minor adjustments later in the project.
That said, their responsiveness and ability to quickly adapt more than made up for it.
It was a smooth and professional collaboration overall.
