A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the product VP, which majorly consists of taking care of the tech side of the products. I’m in charge of various delivery services and tech projects at our organization. We develop custom products for different US, UK, and international clients.
What challenge were you trying to address with Webknot Technologies?
They had great Flutter developers, so we engaged them for Flutter-based development. We contacted Webknot and did a quick memorandum of understanding.
What was the scope of their involvement?
We’ve primarily taken care of the product, and Webknot has given us the development team and done end-to-end engagement delivery. We’ve done client management, product business analytics, and product design. Initially, we did the project plan, which included a business analysis. The team has maintained it, and they assign VRD documents and do first drafts.
Overall, the development program involved four types of design: database design, Flutter framework, unit test, and integration test. Once these were done, Webknot delivered the product to us. We picked it up to check everything, and then we gave it to the end client.
Right now, the project has gone live, and Webknot is working on support. Additionally, they’re responsible for testing. They understand the product’s entire life cycle and have gone to that level of product development environment.
The product is a different type of software product integration. It’s an educational social platform, and it’s a B2C product. It’ll be used mainly by people in the US who are linked with an education mentor.
We’re now working on a second project. Webknot will do an end-to-end website design for an Indian-funded startup.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with around 20–25 people on and off. They’re project managers and product developers. All of them have a great way of managing the internal teams.
How did you come to work with Webknot Technologies?
Webknot was a young and responsible team, and they had excellent base knowledge on frameworks such as Flutter. Their co-founders impressed us with the projects they’d done. Also, they had a competitive cost.
How much have you invested with them?
We pay around $2,000 per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started engaging with them in January 2021 for small proofs of concept. We wanted to see what they could deliver and how quickly they could turn in a project.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Any software development project will have problems, escalations, and feedback, but they’ve worked on weekends and gone beyond expectations. Their team has tracked everything, and then they’ve done more testing and put more thought into the QA processes.
The types of resources and deliveries have varied, but their metrics to regulate the team are commendable. They have a very transparent way of defining who’s working on what.
Additionally, we introduced Webknot to the US client, and they’re now working directly with them.
How did Webknot Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
For our engagement delivery program, it was essential to track everyday work, especially in this pandemic situation where the majority of the people are working from home. They met all the deadlines on the first project, and we went live the day we’d talked. In another project, there was a delay of one week, but it was manageable.
Their internal team management is excellent. Not only do they manage us, but they actually manage other things like documentation, communication, and the product side of the project. Sometimes they come up with the project plan as well. Initially, we thought we were just taking some resources for development, but they’ve gone beyond that.
They use ClickUp as their project management tool, and there’s a code repository channel. We also use Slack for communication.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their transparent way of work is their most commendable trait. It's the most important factor in the service industry.
Are there any areas they could improve?
When they're handling multiple projects, the quality of the delivery for a couple of projects is really high, while in others, the quality isn’t as expected. They should focus equally on every project.
Any advice for potential customers?
You should have a senior Webknot employee to manage the project and be held responsible.
The client is satisfied with Webknot Technologies’ quality service. They’ve gone above and beyond expectations, delivering work promptly. Overall, they’ve stood out for their transparency and team management skills. They’re aware of what everyone is doing, and they provide constant updates.
