BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the COO of an experience management platform that builds questionnaires for client service and employee engagement. The platform provides real-time insightful dashboards and offers digital improvement boards for mostly medium-sized corporations.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with WebDesign Lagom?

The company was built originally from technology. As a result, the marketing aspect was underdeveloped because we haven't given sufficient attention. We needed someone who can think with us and translate our detailed technical language into easy and accessible language. Then, we needed to put together all the search associated images in a streamlined and intuitive website.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WebDesign Lagom developed the website, including the back- and frontend and the UI/UX design. They started building the .nl site, which was aimed at the local market, and it was more bilateral. It was also a selling platform. After that, they developed the .com website, including the image and the look and feel. It had a different objective, focusing more on branding. Both websites were built on WordPress.

What is the team composition?

We worked with two people from WebDesign Lagom.

How did you come to work with WebDesign Lagom?

We found WebDesign Lagom through my informal network.

We were looking for a website builder in the Netherlands because we wanted to start with local markets. I found that most people had very similar packages that were small, medium, and large. They couldn’t indicate what their approach was, and how they could make them different from us. We knew in advance that we wanted to do something different and giving me a standard package wouldn’t work. We needed someone who was flexible and eager to work with us, and who could see as a real partner.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent €5,000 (approximately $6,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

The .nl website development lasted from January–May 2020. It was mainly driven by our timelines. On the other hand, the .com website development lasted from November 2020–February 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The .com website had received positive feedback. It was very professional. The nice thing about the website builder was that, in the background, it had a photographer’s studio, so it was more focused on the look and feel. That was very important for the visitor flow of the website.

In terms of initiative, proactiveness, and original approach, I would give them a 10. In terms of structural guidance, at the starting point of the project, I’d rate them with 7. However, in the process, I’d give them an 8.

How did WebDesign Lagom perform from a project management standpoint?

We didn't have any tools to communicate with WebDesign Lagom. In fact, the lack of a project management tool matched well with us. The reason why we didn’t go with the standard package was we knew from our experience that we wouldn’t give this process sufficient time. Any company that works with any distracting project management would have fewer irritations and frustrations with us.

The good part was that WebDesign Lagom learned our way of working and branding, and our relationship grew. Next time, they could be more strict with us.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I would say image branding or bringing the UX angle. I know we are great in what we do, but we can’t assume that everybody knows and sees that. However, if people have never heard about us and we don’t think about the UX, then we'd miss some people. They came up with what our end users would think about.

Are there any areas they could improve?

WebDesign Lagom could grow in project management style. However, if I hadn't have selected them, I know they would have.

Any advice for potential customers?

WebDesign Lagom is a good option for someone who’s looking for a website builder that thinks and presents themselves as a partner.
