We hired Webcaptain to assist us in a web development project for a client of ours. The client wanted to create a simple, yet extensive gamification system om their website of which we hired WebCaptain to do:

• Gamification system, frontend & backend development. 
• Add ReCaptcha @ login & register to repent bot accounts. 
• Add a custom ToS @ register page. 

Even tho the communication from our client wasn't the most detailed in terms of feedback or project details, WebCaptain did go above and beyond to satisfy the client (and our) needs with great patience.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

• Increased user engagement: Time spent on the website, the number of game interactions, and the percentage of users participating in the gamification features has increased exponentially. 
• The gamification system contributed to higher user retention rates and reduced bounce rates.

No, there are no areas for improvement, and WebCaptain did an exceptional job in their consultant role. They fulfilled our requirements and expectations, demonstrating a high level of competence and professionalism throughout the project. Their performance met our needs and left no room for suggestions for improvement. We were fully satisfied with their services.

Webcapitan is fronted and managed overall by Roman and we had a dedicated project manager called Alex who is very skilled an excellent communicator and has an irrepressible desire to work with customers. In lots of ways Alex was our in-house development/service manager. The business provided the scope and Alex managed the delivery.

Webcapitan delivered the website perfectly suited to our needs and specifications. During the project, the team was always available and could quickly respond to requests or possible adjustments. They work in a structured, efficient and fast manner and focus on the customer and his wishes.

Milestones that were communicated in advance were always met. In the event of ambiguities, corresponding queries were made and clarified in good time in order to be able to keep to the schedule.

Webcapitan strives for perfection. If something is not yet perfect, i.e. the customer does not like it yet, they work on it until everything is 100% perfect.

When developing websites, there are often different ways to get to the target. Concrete queries about the technical implementation in advance can therefore reveal simpler, technical solutions in good time.

Through the years, many alterations and updates have been made, it would take a very long time to list everything. Through every update the requirements have been matched in full to the highest quality and standard allowing us to grow and expand our business.

I am the Creative Director for CIEDA the creative change agency for not for profits. We provide creative, design and marketing strategy services to not for profits, academia and social enterprises.

Web development. We had already done the branding ourselves and wanted a professional outfit to do the coding and back end and stay with us during the lifetime of the site. Our goal was an accessible site based on vector illustrations because we like them and run a competition about authentic representaiton in digital art.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Having been to Ukraine quite a few times on holiday it was a bit of a no brainer to outsource to a Ukrainian dev team. They generally take things seriously and as a population are intrinsically good with technology. When Webkapitan came up as an option to use I felt it was worth a go because I felt like I was more likely to get a quality and robust product at good value for CIEDA.

If you've used UK dev teams you know that they can often be extremely slow and there is always a bigger fish than you in their pond which means you get pushed further and further down the to do list. I wanted to avoid that and my decision to outsource to Webcapitan has been rewarded.

Full 360 really. They will do the art and design and you need to do the content and decision making. Don't go into this thinking that everything will be on a plate because it takes a lot of in-house work to plan out what you want to say and do. Webcapitan will be able to guide you to some extent but you need to be plugged into

Not sure but likely 3 or 4 people. There's Roman who is the coordinator and director, Alex is CIEDA's account contact and I suspect at least 2 developers who probably prefer to remain out of the spotlight ;)

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Hard to say as this was a new site but generally it appears to be stable, attracts googlebot and looks great.

Direct and matter of fact. Which is what you want in a dev team. Too many UK outfits will tell you you're amazing and then not show up at the altar. Very quick turn around in fact I wonder if they have many breaks at all bar weekends.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

More of a Ronseal outfit so I guess nothing is that impressive or unique and that's exactly what I want. They do the job, they will do it in a timely manner and at a good price. If I wanted unique, I'd do it all myself.... then it'll be uniquely s****.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not really. I have quite complex needs but as a Creative Director I like to think I can devise the concepts and brand as much as possible so all I would say is do both parties a favour and plan out what you want at a high level and then the team are able to adapt with you as you go but the onus is on you as the client and they are your outsourced experts rather than going to do everything for you.

We could not be more happy with the communication, the vision, and the customer service that Webcapitan has provided for us. Their customer support is top-of-the-line and I recommend them to anyone who might ask about our wonderful website!

They stayed in constant communication with us and provided us regular updates during the entire process. We got to look at the progress of the site as they were going and they listened to our concerns (first time website owner here) and patiently explained the entire process of getting it online. They continue to support us to this day, over three years later.

I am the owner of company who has multiple WEB projects. Our company was established more than 5 years ago and our main focus is creating and developing WEB sites and browser games.

One of our new projects was Sveikt.lv: a portal where users could easily order a video greeting from celebrities - popular persons who work different areas, like actors, musicians, athletes etc. In other words - a local version of cameo.com, but here we wanted to focus on the local celebrities. We got ready the design, however at that time our WEB developer was busy with other tasks, so we needed to find someone else as soon as possible.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I searched for WordPress developers in some freelancer sites and we got dozens of applications. We chose to start work with Webcapitan because their main focus profile was exactly WordPress sites, and also because it sounded honest and knowing what they are talking about (comparing with some other ones who claimed know almost all programming languages in the world).

Once we agreed to continue with Webcapitan, we started to contact via chat and spent a few weeks discussing the design files and planned functionality. In the begin we used the old good Google sheet for tracking the tasks and Figma files for design, but later on we moved to a centralized tool where it's easier to overview the progress, assigned people, spent time and many other things.

Mostly I work with their CEO and also with their main developer. With the rest of their team I contact mostly only regarding particular tasks to clarify the scope or verifying the bugs.

The first version of site was published in the end of 2022 and we already got some results and increasing popularity. Despite the force-major situation in their home country they are able to continue work on the upgrades and bug fixes.

They have a centralized work platform where I add all the tasks or bugs to be fixed. Then each of them gets assigned to the developer, depending on the type (e.g.: a functional or design issue). The work usually is done in a timely manner, excepting some cases when the delay is caused due to developer being sick or problems with electricity/network in their location, but in such cases they always try to inform me prior.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The company was quite well organized and professional. Although the project being a bit challenging due to the design and some functionality, they almost never has told 'no' to my requests. In most of cases they are ready to step an extra mile by explaining the task or even providing an alternative which would cost less time and efforts.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

One thing I'd wish they had is an overview of the time spent time for each task, as know they have to export the list manually every month.

Webcapitan has performed well in terms of project management. They’re incredibly transparent and communicative — I’m always aware of their progress and everything else that’s going on in our projects.  We’ve spent a lot of time optimizing our collaboration, and we’ve since found a way to eliminate any setbacks on our projects before we present the products to our customers.

We will look at the project at each level and let them know what they need from us. If we are planning a project, this is how we plan it. They always know what is in the works and what is not. We use Telegram, WhatsApp, and Zoom.

Tenacity is great when it comes to project management. This is one of the things that this guys are working in, and I’m doing very good work in a situation where other people would do nothing. I am doing really good work on Facebook and other platforms where people don’t do anything. It’s very difficult at current times, and they’re working hard on it.

No, they were a good partner.

There’s always room for improvement. There are always things that can be improved. However, I can’t do anything about it because any project approach has different goals.

Webcapitan updated our old website, creating a new design and adding new features. They built the website in WordPress and connected it to our various social media accounts. They mainly worked on the backend, cleaning it up and making the site function better. They also worked in HTML and CSS.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The new website is more user-friendly than the older version and easier to maintain and manage. The redesign has increased our unique visitors and Google ranking, also improving engagement and interest from our target market. The new site has far fewer bugs and problems than the old website. We were impressed with Webcapitan’s high-quality work.

How did Webcapitan perform from a project management standpoint?

Their communication was excellent, clearly explaining technical components that we didn’t understand. We used Trello, GitHub, and Asana for project management, and they provided regular reports to describe project progress. They usually resolved any of our concerns within a few days, and we had weekly meetings to make sure everyone was on the same page.

Their design and development were great.

I can’t think of any ways they could’ve improved.
