BARÉ Alchemy is a Skin Health company that makes powerful serums from unique botanicals. As the founder, I steer our vision and strategy.

For what projects/services did your company hire Depot Creative?

We hired Depot for all our branding and packaging design work. We asked Angela to design the entire look and feel of the brand including print and digital touch points.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a visual representation of our beliefs and vision for the brand.

How did you select this vendor?

After much searching, Angela came recommended by our industrial designer. After meeting her once, we knew we had the right person for the job.

Describe the project in detail.

We needed designs for four product packages as well as branding and digital presentation that all had a common thread. We wanted a concept that conveyed beauty yet sophistication and science. Angela absolutely nailed it with floral radiographs incorporated into beautiful spacing and colors.

What was the team composition?

The core was Angela and myself. We then brought in industrial designers, printers etc at different stages of the project.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our packaging design has won numerous global awards. The products continue to be iconic and are etched in the memories of all those who have set eyes on them.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication has been excellent throughout. Angela is also blessed with deep EQ that absorbs the nuances of what you are looking to express visually and is able to capture it in her designs.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are talented and professional. She's a great person. Their quality of work is also impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Just stay in business.

For our new packaging and rebranding.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to elevate the brand with new luxury packaging. we required premier quality to compete with other brands in our sector

How did you select this vendor?

Describe the project in detail.

We received a number of design concepts at the start of the project - all of which were very impressive. We selected our favourite and then rolled out the concept to work throughout the range. We finalised the number of SKUs and then proceeded to the artwork stage.

Depot also recommended a printer and they managed the print liaison. We received samples on 2 occasions and proceeded to full print when we were entirely happy.

What was the team composition?

Most worked with Angela and occasionally other designers in the team.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Early days for the new packaging however it has been extremely well received by our current stockists and clients. It has enabled us to increase pricing and raise the positioning of our brand. We are very confident that it will allow us to get into large luxury retail stores.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the president and CEO of Hopapops, which is a plant-based protein snack. It’s a superfood snack that falls into the plant-based snacking craze.  

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Depot Creative?

The healthy snack category is the most competitive and fastest-growing market. So, we needed to find. Way to catch the consumer’s eye in a sea of good-for-you snacking options.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The extent of their work included developing the brand identity through our website, social media, brand packaging, and marketing.

At the beginning of the project, they did some work uncovering the personality of our founders and the people at the forefront of our business. They wanted to express our personality through our product. Doing their due diligence, they researched the category and the competition in the market.

Using that information, they put together five different directions. They delivered a variety of options to define our brand based on the product and the character our company wanted to project. We then fine-tuned to that and presented delivered additional suggestions and find that into the packaging. Once we narrowed down which one we wanted to follow, they tweaked it to really hone in on the attributes we want to convey. Then they prepared us to go to press and branded our website. Since then, they’ve provided ongoing maintenance.

What is the team composition?

I dealt directly with Angela (Founder & Creative Director, Depot Creative).

How did you come to work with them?  

Through the interview process, their knowledge base of our industry was extensive compared to others we talked to. Their estimates for the timeline were reasonable and communication was easy. Of course, cost was also a factor.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in July 2018 and the project is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our brand has gained a lot of positive feedback at trade shows from other marketing agencies. Also, the product is moving off the shelf quickly for an item that just entered the market.

How did Depot Creative perform from a project management standpoint?

Obviously, we’re really happy with them. Deadlines were usually met. When they weren’t it was due to an outside factor. The team notified us if there was a hiccup that was going to create a kink in the overall project or impact our launch date. They were very open and eager to find a workaround to challenges and usually did.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are organized, professional, and diverse, which I think brings a lot to the table. In the US, an international component is a big advantage. Their team has in-depth knowledge about what is going on internationally, which is expensive to find on the fly, So, it has been a good partnership.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s always nice to have somebody work within the same our as us, but that’s not realistic when working with an international company. We can’t really expect that.
