Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of a company that makes chatbots for law firms. We automate conversations in English and Spanish for Facebook Messenger, web, SMS, and WhatsApp.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenges were you trying to address with The Neon Project?

I had begun to build the chatbots, but I wanted to bring some more maturity to my project. I was attracted to The Neon Project because of their experience with natural language processing and their team’s fluency in both Spanish and English.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They began by doing a UX review of my chatbot. From there, they scoped out the project to provide further AI development. We used Google Dialogflow and IBM Watson. They also have a proprietary product that they created to handle conversational problems. We also use Miro to map out potential workflows. 

We’re working in two-week product sprints to build new features for the chatbots. 

What is the team composition?

I work with five people from their team including Javier (Co-Founder), Danny (Software Engineer), and Miguel (Software Developer). 

How did you come to work with The Neon Project?

A former employee of The Neon Project had written a lot of things about chatbot design in Spanish, so I reached out to her. 

How much have you invested with them? 

I’ve invested between $40,000–$50,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working with them in October 2018, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They helped me migrate from a no-code platform to my own proprietary platform. That’s helped me get more customers and it gives my product differentiation. Ultimately, I think their work will help me secure venture funding for my company. 

How did The Neon Project perform from a project management standpoint?

As a person without technical experience, they’ve been great about guiding me and explaining the development process. We use Jira for project management. We typically communicate via Google Meet and Slack. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re still very few people that understand how to tackle a multi-channel, multilingual machine learning conversational software product. They really understand the challenges around this type of development, and they know how to get a stable product to market. They’re a leading company in conversational technology. 

They’re really practical, and they have a great eye for budget-driven solutions. They’ve helped me save a good amount of money. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’ve been amazing. It took us a minute to figure out their IP rights, especially as a European company working with me, an American. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

Invest a lot of time upfront to develop a roadmap and detailed specifications so that you can understand what the project entails. Make sure you have realistic expectations for budget and timeframe.

I’m the general director of a foundation. We work with people who have problems, minors with bad behaviors, and we also help migrants.

This is a pilot program. We needed an app where we could input all the information, results, and evaluations in one place.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The Neon Project created an application using Blockchain. They built the app to collect information of the families we help and store the results and evaluations within the app. The app is available for iOS and Android. 

What is the team composition?

There are four people we interact with, including a project manager and an informatic engineer. 

How did you come to work with The Neon Project?

I’ve known the owner for several years, and worked together in the past.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent €15,000 (approximately $17,300 USD).

We began working together around March 2019 and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Everyone involved in the project uses the app they’ve built for us. It is easy to use and feedback has been very positive. There is a university doing evaluations, and they use the app as well, which is great. We’re very pleased with it.

How did The Neon Project perform from a project management standpoint?

We have bi-weekly meetings to discuss progress, and what is to be worked on for the next two weeks. We use Zoom for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They understand our goals and input good suggestions to help us reach more people. They’re patient and easy to work with.

No, there’s nothing.

They will take the work seriously.

What challenges were you trying to address with The Neon Project?

We had a very heavy workload so we needed to outsource some of our services especially projects related to development using Python, React JS, Apple, and Android. So we worked with Neon Project on some of these projects.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provided development services using Python and React JS for Apple and Android.

What is the team composition?

Around 5 or 6 people were involved.

How did you come to work with The Neon Project?

We were looking for a company based in the same area as we are and that used the technologies we needed support in.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve invested between €100,000–€200,000 (approximately $115,324–$230,648 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them around September 2019 and finished in February 2020.

Our collaboration with them had very positive results, we were able to be more agile on the delivery of our projects. They helped us to expand our services and deliver everything on time.

Everything was on time, they met all deliveries and with a high level of quality.

They were able to adapt very quickly to the technologies and functionalities we needed and use them efficiently.

I’m the CEO of an innovative IoT company with a tourist storage solution. They’re small lockers that are fully automated and require no staff onsite.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with The Neon Project?

We receive more than 90 million tourists a year, which is actually a huge problem. We did a lot of research to see what solutions are available in the market.

No one had automatic smart lockers that were without staff. That’s why we decided to pursue our business idea to automate the whole process. We needed a company to help us develop our tourist storage solution.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The team developed the entire IoT solution for our smart lockers. They built the whole booking process. Once a customer books the locker on the website, they receive a QR code and an ID code to their mobile phone.

With that code, customers can open the storage front door and locker. They can leave their belongings in storage and pick it up later. Our website is in different languages so that the customer can book in their language.

They used React and Python.

What is the team composition?

There are more than 20 people. There are 5–6 people working at a time for us with different skills. Sometimes they’re working on the frontend, backend, or UX/UI.

There’s a project manager that’s in charge of the project. He puts together a team for whatever task we need.

How did you come to work with The Neon Project?

We started developing with another company, and they disappeared from the market. We needed a new partner and researched companies that had knowledge of the technologies we were using.

We came up with six different companies, and one was The Neon Project. We ran a short interview with all of them. We decided they were the best choice, and we were right.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent €120,000 (approximately $137,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement with The Neon Project started in April 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re very happy with The Neon Project. Everything works like magic. The flow is effortless, and the booking process is fast. It’s perfect for tourists who may speak another language.

The reviews we get are great. They talk about how great the technology is working and that the whole process has a great flow. It’s fool-proof.

How did The Neon Project perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management is what I mostly like. They’re very flexible and can adapt very well to client needs. We use Slack, phone, and email. Their team is always open to new ideas.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The Neon Project operates as an internal tech team. Everyone on the team is very involved with the project and trying to help. They put some good ideas on the table.

I don’t have any negative feedback. I’m really happy with them.

The Neon Project is the best company you can get to work with. I recommended them to someone, and they are now working together. They’re also very happy working with them.
