I am the founder of the business - a digital platform which simply and securely links clients and their healthcare professionals. It is designed for Australian healthcare clients and their providers. The platform enables them to efficiently communicate and collaborate, and securely store and access client healthcare documents.

I engaged Wave Digital for digital product strategy, prototype design, website development and technical consulting services.

What were your goals for this project?

As a startup, I was looking to refine my idea and to bring this to life visually.

Through google searches and then with research from reviews etc.

The project started with a kick-off meeting where Guy and his team discussed the process involved and provided me with a questionnaire to complete. To do this, I did further research about the providers and clients who I thought would use the initial version of the platform.

The next step was to use this information to formulate the product strategy. I then worked with Wave’s lead designer on the logo and other brand elements. Once these had been fleshed out, we moved onto the user navigation. We had several iterations of wireframes which were then followed by visual designs.

They then used the final visual designs to create a prototype along with a landing page for my product. During the design process, Wave’s technical director also walked me through some of the technical aspects of the build for the project. In particular, what would need to happen to ensure the patient data on the platform was going to meet privacy and security requirements.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

At the end of the project I had a professional prototype and landing page, along with an estimate of the cost to complete the design and build of the platform. Throughout the process, I also received advice on creating a digital product including general business advice and commercialisation options.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I am currently located in London. Wave Digital easily accommodated the time difference and communication was timely and seamless.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The communication was always efficient and they were always flexible in fitting me in on short notice for work.

What were your goals for this project?

I wanted to refine my vision for the app and also confirm it was technically feasible. I also needed a working prototype that I could then take to teachers, students and potential investors to engage and validate the idea.

I used Google search to identify reputable app developers and chose Wave Digital based on their technical expertise and the confidence their MD Guy gave me during our discussions.

Describe the project in detail.

The project predominantly involved the Wave Digital team investigating what technologies could be used to build the desired features. This included exploring the opportunities and constraints associated with a particular technology.

We first discussed product strategy, some different technology approaches and the key areas of uncertainty and risk that needed to be explored. The purpose of the prototype was to target the high-risk areas and find a solution that addressed those, along with delivering a functioning prototype that reflected my idea which I could use to engage stakeholders.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Wave Digital produced a working prototype proving that what I hoped could be achieved was actually possible.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had a really efficient workflow despite being located in different States. The Wave team was always available to talk through any questions I had

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Having never developed a piece of software before, Guy spent the time with me to guide me through the process and respond to my questions, giving me the confidence to test my idea in the market.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We are really happy with the prototype and students have loved using it to help them with their handwriting. I am hoping to develop an MVP as a next step.

I am the founder of a solution that enables you to set up your own payment plan and make flexible payments towards bills before the due date.

For what projects/services did your company hire Wave Digital?

We hired Wave to build an end to end digital payment solution involving an iOS app, an AWS back end solution integrated with a Payment Gateway, with an Active Admin interface.

What were your goals for this project?

The solution needed to be easy to use, configure, manage and be reliable.

SOLUTION

How did you select Wave Digital?

My criteria was a local based developer with high integrity, someone I could trust to deliver the solution. After a scan of the web and rating sites, the 30 minutes offered by Guy (Managing Director for Wave) via their website was invaluable.

He was able to assess my requirements very quickly and provide me with a clear view of what was required and an overview of next steps. From the get go, I felt like I had a partner to develop my solution with rather than a supplier.

Describe the project in detail.

The project involved validating the solution functional requirements across the app, back end, payment gateway, and active admin solution. As Wave are a full service solution team, they provided me with enormous value in finalising the UI by examining the user experience from all facets of the solution.

The project then progressed into building the iOS react native app, AWS back end solution, payment gateway integration and active admin interface. Once the solution was built, full end to end acceptance testing was conducted, with the solution accepted and the iOS app certified by Apple. The solution is now hosted and managed by Wave.

What was the team composition?

We had a team comprising of a Project Manager to manage the solution development testing and release process, a Front and Back End Developer, a UI Expert, plus access to Guy throughout the process.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Extremely happy with the quality of the solution produced by Wave and also the development process undertaken. Their project governance as well as their technical development capability is strong, which results in high quality outcomes.

The app, back end, integration and interface components all met the brief provided to Wave, which reflects their strong capability of understanding an idea and then building a working software solution.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

All communication was fantastic. The Project Manager kept me up to date and gave me full visibility of any issues or change requests via Jira. I had access to specialist resources when required, in a timely manner, and Guy also checked in regularly to see how progress was going.

The Wave team also made me feel like they were working along side me in my company, which was super important to me.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their ethical approach to solution development. Everyone was very honest and open with us which made us feel that our business was in good hands. And they delivered exactly what they said they would.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I would recommend Wave to just keep doing what they are doing, because compared to other developers I have worked with, Wave are first class. I will definitely use them again.

I am the founder of Diabeasy. Diabeasy is a Melbourne-based technology startup with the aim of improving the current healthcare model of diabetes management. I founded the startup as a vehicle for my interest in the intersection of medicine, education and technology and to progress my passion for helping patients with diabetes.

I am designing and creating a clinician-patient app and software solution. I engaged Wave Digital for strategy, UX and UI design, brand and visual identity development and technical design and consulting for the app.

What were your goals for this project?

My goals were to develop a clearer vision for what the first version of the app would do, the users and the specific problems it would solve for them. I also wanted to use the outputs of the strategy, branding and design process to support early market validation activities and to source fundraising for the next stage.

Wave Digital was chosen due to their knowledge, expertise and reputation in the digital technology industry, especially with respect to healthcare projects. After an initial consultation, I was impressed by Wave Digital as a design and strategy company who were passionate about improving lives through technology.

The overall scope for the project included product strategy, user requirements, benchmarking, user experience design, branding and visual identity, visual design and some technical consulting. The team at Wave Digital worked with me and my key stakeholders to identify the user requirements and which to prioritise for a MVP. Wave completed benchmarking research on competitor products and other related apps, and the outcome then informed the user experience and visual design process. Wave also led me through a creative process to develop the brand for Diabeasy.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Wave Digital produced app designs while also creating a brand and visual identity that I can repurpose for investor presentations, my website and social media presence. The outputs of the process and engagement with Wave Digital has enabled me to progress commercial discussions with potential customers of the product.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was very effective and clear. At all times, there was communication from Wave Digital and everything we well laid out and organised. Furthermore, the project was undertaken collaboratively on a virtual whiteboard, enabling continual feedback and iterations. This enabled product ideation and development to occur rapidly with many opportunities for discussion.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed by the skill and passion of all the team members at Wave Digital that I worked with. Everybody showed and demonstrated clear interest and enthusiasm for the product. This meant that the overall quality of the project was superb and there was a clear sense that our missions aligned with each other which resulted not only in a high quality product, but an enjoyable and collaborative experience.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Wave Digital far surpassed all my expectations, not only in design but also in execution. The project was organised in a timely and efficient matter, executed to the highest quality and I have no qualms in using Wave Digital again or recommending Wave Digital to somebody.

Our company develops consumer-targeted software applications for Desktop and iOS. Our application provides a visually rich, highly interactive and customisable approach to managing projects, legal cases, and creative works. I am the founder and lead developer for the project.

We engaged Wave Digital for strategy and UX/UI design for our desktop software application.

What were your goals for this project?

My goals for the project were to refresh the product and incorporate new features into the design - most of which had been suggested by our users - while ensuring customer-focused design was considered from the outset.

How did you select this vendor?

After meeting with half a dozen agencies, Wave Digital stood out with their unique mix of professionalism, flexibility, and eagerness to collaborate rather than dominate the design process. We were thrilled with the quality and efficiency of their design work for an earlier project (designing an iPad app), and didn’t hesitate to return to them for this project.

The overall scope for the project included product strategy and a complete product redesign. Wave Digital first delivered a strategy and prioritization workshop. We came to Wave with a long list of features, and they worked with us to create a product roadmap to ensure the design effort was focused in the right areas. Wave Digital then commenced a wireframing process, where we were given multiple opportunities to provide input. Once these were finalized, Wave Digital completed the visual designs.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Due to other scheduling priorities, we are still putting the finishing touches on development before releasing the new version, but I can't wait to finally put their designs in the hands of our users.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Having worked with them previously, I already knew that they were a great team to work with. The designer produced high-quality work and contributed excellent design ideas and suggestions, but was extremely responsive to feedback, and happy to discuss and experiment with design ideas through many iterations until we settled on things we were both happy with. The team was also very efficient to work with - they managed to get a lot done in a very short space of time.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed with Wave Digital's flexibility and willingness to collaborate in a way that worked for both of us. After talking to a number of design companies who wanted to quote for everything, it was very refreshing to meet the Wave Digital team and find them willing to contribute their design expertise without wanting to control the entire project.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Based on my experience working with them across two projects, there is nothing that comes to mind.

I am the managing director of Tradex Australia, a FinTech startup that provides an online trade account platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in B2B markets. It’s a unique digital service offering that covers invoice factoring as well as asset and credit financing via website, mobile, and in-store services.

We engaged Wave Digital to produce a product strategy and roadmap for our FinTech web app, including brand and messaging assets, ideation services, UX design, technical design, and visual design.

What were your goals for this project?

The objective of the project was to develop a technical specification that will guide software development. In the process, we also needed to design the UI/UX to intuitively facilitate our services.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I searched online for web developers in Melbourne, shortlisted three providers, and had high-level discussions with each company’s manager about our concept.

When I met with Guy Cooper (Managing Director, Wave Digital), he was enthusiastic to discuss our project in detail. He had valuable previous experience as the CFO for some very successful startups, and I was convinced to go with Wave Digital due to Guy’s development roadmap.

Describe the project in detail.

After completing the ideation phase, we worked with Wave Digital to develop the specification for the UI/UX design. Our service model is quite novel, so some of the processes will be foreign to most, if not all, of our users. This meant that we had to design interfaces that would be simple and intuitive, while facilitating all necessary functions.

We had an initial meeting with Wave Digital to discuss our requirements followed by two additional meetings to review and iterate the completed work. Then, we planned the next steps to refine our UX/UI concept. Finally, they produced a comprehensive specification document, including numerous interface designs that will guide the software development phase.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We’re very happy with the outcome. The process of developing the specification, and the document itself, was key in creating an intuitive UI/UX design that would deliver our services in an elegant way. The resulting documentation would also guide future software development.

Additionally, many of the discussions that we had with Wave Digital, and the feedback they provided, led to business model innovations that have substantially increased our value proposition.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

During the UX/UI design process, we were in frequent contact with their client liaison and product manager, providing feedback and suggesting iterations. We had to go through a lot of trial and error, but Wave Digital was aware of this and adapted well to our needs. They set a clear timeline at the beginning of the project, so there was no ambiguity about when phases were to be completed.

Communication was easy and enjoyable. We exchanged emails multiple times per week, and they were always quick to respond. Occasionally, we had phone calls in addition to our face-to-face meetings. We found their input to be extremely valuable.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Being a startup, we were unfamiliar with the processes of developing a UI/UX design. However, Wave Digital deftly guided us through the engagement. They were fantastic in keeping us focused on the task at hand, and their team did an excellent job of translating our ideas into a polished technical specification.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Our experience was excellent, and we can't think of any areas in which Wave Digital was lacking.

Therapeutic Guidelines Limited (TGL) is a not-for-profit organization that supports the creation and dissemination of independent therapeutic information. I manage the Developing Countries Program, which provides low- and middle-income countries access to the information and support they need to develop their own local guidelines.

For what projects/services did your company hire Wave Digital?

Wave Digital designed and developed our company's new mobile app. It's tailored specifically for medical prescribers in developing countries. We requested a user-friendly product with minimal technical complexity. Notably, we needed the product to be extensible and future-proof.

What were your goals for this project?

Our app aims to empower healthcare professionals working abroad in countries with less available resources. It offers them easy access to a digital version of their own local guidelines (and other similar publications), from anywhere in the world.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We chose Wave Digital based on the quality of their prior work within the health sector. The design solution they proposed demonstrated a thorough understanding of our needs. They seemed to have the right abilities to meet all our technical requirements.

Describe the project in detail.

Wave Digital's comprehensive range of services included strategy, design, development, warranty, and support. They programmed our app for both iOS and Android. Notable functions include navigation with search and sort capacity for content that falls within one or more guidelines. Users can view the detailed contents of each guideline and access information about the app itself.

Outside the app's functional requirements, Wave Digital added offline and country-specific restricted access options to ensure the IP address is protected. They designed a neutral frontend to facilitate white labeling and legal use in a wide range of countries. The app is built for CMS capability, and to simplify adding guidelines for future participating nations in the future at minimal cost. Since the product delivery earlier in 2018, they've provided ongoing hosting and maintenance.

Wave Digital assigned five people to our project. We worked with a client liaison, a product and project manager, a UI/UX designer, and one developer each for iOS and Android.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We're pleased with the app Wave Digital has built. There have been zero reports about any difficulties with downloading or using the app amongst our user base. Our target population is, by definition, located in countries with poor internet accessibility and functionality. Based on this record so far, the final app iteration seems to meet the outlined needs perfectly.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We were impressed with their level of communication and commitment to creating the app to our exact requirements. Wave Digital consistently dedicated their time and effort to keep us updated on the progress.
