Please describe your company and your position there.

I’m the general manager of a specialist clinic for the prescription of medical cannabis by doctors in Melbourne, Australia.

For what projects/services did your company hire Waqa Studios?

We needed to find a way to brand ourselves effectively, and so we approached Waqa Studios for their branding services. We hired them to design and develop our website so that it would bring in new requests for appointments.

What were your goals for this project?

Our main goal was to brand ourselves as a professional medical clinic and launch a website that would turn visitors into new patients.
MediCannabis provides a service for what is still a new market in Australia. We have challenges related to how to distinguish a medical practice from all the unrelated content surrounding cannabis already on the Internet. Furthermore, we provide a medical service, which in itself is a very challenging industry to present in a pleasant manner since the focus of our content is illness.

How did you select this vendor?

We’ve worked with them on other projects, and we were extremely satisfied. For this new venture, we went straight to Waqa Studios without hesitation.

Describe the project in detail.

They developed a brand strategy which they carried over to the branding materials and brand identity guidelines. They conducted research and explained their thought process on why they made their recommendations.

Next, they developed a website strategy and explained their reasoning behind why certain elements should be placed where they were according to their past experience. They worked on many items to produce the resulting brand and website (e.g. colors, identity, photo selection, web structure and layout, and navigational flow).

What was the team composition?

We always interacted with a single point of contact. That person knew what was going on with the technical and design aspects of the project. The designers and developers worked in tandem, and there was no “hand-off” or disconnect between the different stages.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The website recently launched. It was very useful to have it designed and developed so quickly. We could move ahead with our business and legal operations knowing that our branding and website would be ready early. Now, we have a solid foundation for marketing activities.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had a single point of contact from start to finish who was always up to speed on the details and answered questions before we could ask them. They are not a local to Australia, so we communicated by email, but I’d always get a quick and detailed reply. If other team members sent messages, they would be re-explained or summarized to provide full context.

Intake forms at the start of the project allowed me to send them information about the business that we had already put together. This made the discovery process go by quickly, and it gave them an immediate grasp of the challenges we were facing.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We didn’t need to explain our challenges to them, as they identified our needs quickly and understood them right away. They created a brand that really fits what we do and solves many of our problems. It was a quick turnaround, which eased the stress on our end. 

Are there any areas for improvement?

Waqa Studios was so easy to communicate with. They just "get" what works, so I don't need to say much at all. I'm more than happy, and I’d rather not see them change. I'd be quite impressed if they somehow did improve.
