I’m the marketing and communications director for a real estate and investment company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Vortex Communications?

We initially hired them to lead a rebranding project by updating our corporate logo and designing a new package of marketing materials.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Vortex Communications started the engagement by learning about our company and corporate culture. Understanding our history enabled them to approach the rebranding project with a great amount of respect and attention to detail. They created a variety of logo options and marketing deliverables for us to choose from. Once we finalized an overall design, they completed the materials and integrated the rebrand across our platform.

Later, we hired them to update our website by redesigning its frontend interface. We still wanted to use the logo they created, but the site needed to be more intuitive. They worked with us to create a UI/UX that looks great and communicates the messaging we want to convey. Many firms can create an attractive design, but Vortex Communications utilizes brand storytelling to facilitate customer engagement. They currently perform site maintenance and complete other assignments on an ad hoc basis.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They did a fabulous job creating our logo. Additionally, they completed the website redesign efficiently and within our budget. We always receive positive feedback regarding the work Vortex Communications has done for us. They help us look good, and they accomplish that consistently. Projects go well with them.

How did Vortex Communications perform from a project management standpoint?

They proactively plan our projects, set timelines, and fulfill project changes. We communicate via phone, email, and face-to-face meetings. They’re extremely attentive and responsive. Working with them is a positive experience.

I’m the owner of L&H Partners, Construction & Realty. We’re a general contracting and construction management firm.

What challenge were you trying to address with Vortex Communications?

Considering our website was nearly 20 years old, we needed a capable web design firm to revamp the platform completely. We also needed help updating our marketing efforts and integrating social media marketing into our day-to-day operations.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Vortex Communications handled every aspect of this project to its completion. I met with Tom (Owner, Vortex Communications) early on and explained to him what I wanted the new site to accomplish. After that, they took the lead without needed to be micromanaged.

First, they analyzed our old website and suggested to rebuild it on a new platform. Then, they upgraded our web hosting service to a faster and more responsive provider. They reconstructed the site and overhauled the entire frontend. That required them to augment most of the content featured on the previous website. To accomplish this, they had our three partners professionally photographed, so our bio section looked pristine. Their team incorporated the updated bio section into each of our social media accounts.

They delivered a minimally functional version of the website and got our approval. We met with them 4–5 times as they continued to iterate and refine the platform. Once the final version was complete, they launched it and began to help with the marketing effort.

Vortex Communications uses unique keywords and savvy social media techniques to cultivate a specialized web presence. We usually send them pictures of new or unique projects and describe the context to them. Tom provides original content as well and will often take photographs himself. They post that content on our LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram profiles. They’ve also taken up the role of creating our quarterly newsletter.

What is the team composition?

We solely interact with Tom. I don’t know how many developers are on his team.

How did you come to work with Vortex Communications?

I met Tom by attending a local tennis club that my company built. It turns out; Vortex Communications made that club’s website. After hearing a lot of positive things about Tom from friends and colleagues, I decided to introduce myself. We quickly developed a rapport, so I asked him to take a look at my website. Our relationship evolved from there.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $15,000 thus far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2016 and the engagement ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

All of our business comes from designers, architects, and repeat clients that are in the market for a high-end build. As a result, I can’t say that Tom’s social media or advertising work has generated any leads. That’s not how our company functions. However, the photographs they provide are excellent. Being able to direct potential clients to our website is often what it takes to solidify a deal. The customers see our beautifully displayed work and want a project done for them. Overall, the redesign receives positive feedback from our clientele.

How did Vortex Communications perform from a project management standpoint?

Tom is incredibly responsive, passionate about what he does, and takes the initiative to present us with actionable ideas. For example, he provided us with the tools to hire a better web hosting company and did the legwork to stabilize the site after the switch. Additionally, he ensures tasks are delivered on time or early.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Vortex Communications is a great fit for what our company wants to achieve. They have experience, but they also make an effort to stay up to date with the market. They know what they’re doing and understand know what people like. Their team works hard on every piece of content they produce; even if that means reshooting pictures or rewriting copy. Also, Tom isn’t a typical businessperson. He’s a talented artist that creates beautiful pictures. His creativity, honesty, and drive make him a unique entity within the web design industry.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. They provide exactly what we need.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

New customers should introduce themselves to Tom and get to know him. He’s a smart person that doesn’t try to fool anyone. They can’t go wrong by working with Vortex Communications.
