BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Lenbrook is the parent company for 3 hi-fi audio brands that include NAD Electronics, PSB Speakers, and Bluesound.

I’m head of marketing where I oversee the brand strategy and the execution of the brand strategy globally across our markets.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Vordik Digital?

I was looking for a fresh look and feel for our NAD Electronics website. We wanted to develop a more streamlined brand message. At the time, the website was not compliant with the requirement for it to be mobile friendly in order to be able to rank well in search engines. We had resources on our internal team experienced in design and UX [user experience], but we needed developers for the backend.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started with a consultation to go over our business needs and what our budget needs were. We developed the website content and UX/UI [user experience/user interface] design in-house. They implemented those from the technical standpoint and provided technical consultation throughout. Vordik Digital has been instrumental in helping us to research the appropriate workflow plug-ins and the appropriate translation plug-ins for the backend of the site. These allow our distributors to make changes to the website in their local language for their local markets.

There was an e-commerce functionality on the platform that we’d been using already. They were able to integrate the updated website platform with our existing e-commerce platform. They built the site in WordPress.

The project was divided into 2 phases. Vordik Digital worked on the basic functionality of the site first, and we’re now working on phase 2 in which we’re implementing the translation and workflow backend.

How did you come to work with Vordik Digital?

Vordik Digital's CEO, Aaron, is a former student of mine at the University of Toronto. We considered 2 other companies, but they were not as responsive as Aaron was and they weren’t as open to working with the existing e-commerce platform.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in June of 2016, and the work is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We haven’t gone live with the site yet. We’ve run into several technical issues on our side, but Vordik Digital has been very patient throughout the whole process. I’ve really appreciated that.

We’re in the testing phase now, and no major bugs have been reported. The phase we’re working on now is more complex than the first phase so I can’t give any results on that.

How did Vordik Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

The team has been very professional and good with communication. They’ve been flexible with issues that come up on our side. Vordik Digital is good at managing resources on their end, even though our project has been delayed.

I communicate with Aaron using email, and we have phone conversations monthly. My project manager has been in touch more frequently with Aaron and the developers.

What did you find most impressive about Vordik Digital?

Their attitude is that they want to do the best for their clients. They’re very honest and straightforward in the way they deal with their clients.

Are there any areas Vordik Digital could improve?

I don’t have daily contact with them, but I feel their level of communication has been good; they address issues as needed.
